im changing the original rear leaf springs in my Ranger. the stock spring is rated at 1050 lbs. the new one are 1750 lbs. 2 questions...1. will it change the GVWR? and 2. will it change the tongue load on the trailer? im trying to give it a little more towing capacity over stock. i know the leafs are for cargo capacity, but will it change towing?

OK after fnding out my supposed better than stock R/R is worse than the stock one, only putting out 13.7V instead of the 14.0 from the stock one, and discovering the aftermarket one gets dragged down worse than the stock one, I have decided to do some research. Did a msearch here but no mention of any aftermarket R/R's!! Sooo, who knows of a good heavy duty voltage regulator for a 2nd Gen?? No, I do not know what brand aftermarket one I installed, I bought it along with the high output stator from Buckeye a couple of years ago but just got around to installing it this spring. It's in the trash right now...

I have a 07 RSV with a stock stator. Need to install something that will draw 5V/.5A/2.5W? Is it possible to do this with the stock stator or will I have to upgrade. Thinking the stock stator won't handle it, so, need one that will. Any suggestions?

Hi all. Well after years of turning one of my ventures in to chopper trike I am very happy with the outcome, few things still to be worked out and one of them is the carbs, The combo I have is a 83 motor with 87 stock carbs, stock air box and filter with Harley stock pipes I am very lean on the air fuel ratio all carbs read the same , two turns out on the pilot resulted in a white spark plug poor mid range, poor top end, and with 100 miles of test driving I am now at four turns on the pilot from full in, all spark plugs now reads gray in colour, on the road trike rides with OK mid range and poor top end power/ pulling power. So from here I'm thinking just go up one on the main jet, or should I go with 83 jets and needles to better suit the 83 motor, on ebay there is a jet kit for the 1200 and a kit tor the 1300 motor, not sure if I want or need to go that far as I don't know which kit to go with the 12 or the 13. Any one who has been down the road on this one I would love to have some input, thanks

Ok guys and girls EUSA1 and I were discussing the Mustang wide, one piece seat. Best replacement for stock 2002 seat(not pillowtop)? Worth 650 bucks? Anyone got an extra one sitting around I can use for a day or two to try? 650 clams is a lot for a seat that doesn't feel any better than stock for my and my beautiful wife AKA passenger. Your assistance in this matter will be greatly appreciated.......that is all

Like many, I noticed my water temp gets very close to the redline before the fan kicks in. Once it does, it cools down nicely but I feel more comfortable with the fan coming on at a lower temperature. The thread for the switch is 16m x 1.5. Using that info, I did some searching. I found a good cheap alternative on ebay that switches on the fan significantly earlier than the stock one. The one I got was from a 1988 Chevy Sprint, part number Beck Arnley 201-1367. It is normally open. Opens @ 185 Deg. F; Closes @ 194 Deg. F Fits in with no problem and works like a charm. Fan comes on a lot more but the water temps don't get over half way up the temp gauge. It cost me 5 bucks plus shipping. Just cut off the connector and add a couple of flat, male connectors and they will fit right into the stock harness. Brought my beast in yesterday for the spring service. I'm planning a road trip next month and when we looked it over the service guy and I agreed the the stock rear (11000km) was looking a bit iffy for a long run. He had a pair of venoms in stock, and I said "Sure, why not." When I picked it up that afternoon I took it for a run to get the 'new' off the tires. OMG! I've never been willing to push the beast hard because it felt heavy in the turns, a little squirelly. Within 10 minutes I was taking lean angles I'd never dared with it before and the thing was running like it was on rails. I actually managed to touch a floorboard to the road. Felt like the v-star 950 I traded in for it... It's a completely different bike. I know I've restarted the tire brand debate, but I had to say it.... I'm REALLY impressed with the venoms. I'll let you know how the durability works out, but the first impression is amazing.

Hey all, hope I posted this in the right place... I've got a 2 week cruise coming up in September and I ordered the stock Yamaha luggage rack for my 08 RSTD, looking to mount a sissy bar bag for some extra storage. I'm mainly looking to move the odds-n-ends I carry in my bags to the rack - you know shield cleaner, rain suit, gloves, etc... I've been looking at VikingBags, Tourmaster, Saddleman (and others) and they all have decent-looking bags, but the stock rack isn't flat - it's straight for about 6 in. then it angles up for maybe 3 in. more. So the bags with hard, flat bottoms won't sit flush on the rack. I'm wondering if a round bag such as the Tourmaster Select Sissy Bar bag would work better. And some of these bags don't seem to have much options regarding mounting. So question is: anybody got a recommendation on a good bag for mounting on an 08 RSTD stock luggage rack? Be nice if it was big enough to hold an XXL full face helmet as well as the odds-n-ends listed above, but not Wingebago size.

I cut out the back of the mufflers and went crazy with the drill. First two holes that turned to four holes that turned to six drilled holes. I am a reformed Harley drag pipe guy. I went mad I think. I kinda like the rumble of the small block Chevy sound. But as I age I also appreciate the quiet morning runs that do not wake the birds in their nests. I am converting back to stock. Question. How many here regretted drilling their pipes and like the stock sound? Anybody need some drilled pipes?

dilemma ... My bike is SUPER load... from what I can find out the previous owner had Cherry Bomb Glasspack mufflers put on the bike... Now don't get me wrong if u like loud and awesome sound then this is the way to go... BUT i'm 51 and already my hearing from years of working in a machine shop and LOUD music has taking a toll on my hearing. Now my bike is adding to it...how much could i expect to pay for a set of used STOCK exhaust? ( i'm not really sold on going stock , but)...

I bought this really nice aftermarket headlight that was advertised as fitting an RSV using my existing bracket. Problem is you have to remove the mounts that are welded onto the metal headlight case of the stock headlight and glue them onto the plastic housing of the replacement headlight. Not wanting to destroy my stock headlight before I fit the new one, and not wanting to pay $50 plus shipping from Pinwall, I thought I would check to see if anybody has a broken one setting around that I can canabalize for the mounts...

I installed the 2012 stock Harley muffler's all went on well but never thought they would be that loud for stock muffler's. They have a great sound to them and you know when you get on it. They have a nice rumble at idle and feels like it gained some power too. Hope GF is ok with them or I might have to get a little quiter.

RSTD Windscreen Options?
Dave77459 posted a topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I have to replace the windshield on my RSTD. I started by looking for a stock windscreen, and all I found was this: STR-1D607-11-00 7” lower than stock, made of tough polycarbonate with Quantum Coating® for superior abrasion resistance and longer life. I couldn't find the stock size at the Yamaha website. I'll admit that the only place I could see the windscreen listed was in accessories. I couldn't find it in the parts section. So I started looking for alternatives. The most popular seems to be the Clearview. Threads here suggest that people are getting the shorter version, with the vent. The recurve is both praised and cursed. Any comments on this, comfort, mpg, passenger buffeting? How does the wider size impact attachments to the handlebars? How about riding in the rain, which I do a lot of? The stock windscreen keeps me nice and dry, but it kills my mpg. Another option is Cee Baileys. Anyone have this?? WHen would you use light green? What else is there to fit the stock RSTD quick connect? How does the smoke windscreen look on a midnight bike? Photo examples? Thanks so much for your experience and opinions! Dave -

Hey guys. Since I purchased my Harley Ultra Classic a couple weeks ago I need to get rid of my stock RSTD pipes. I had put Road King slash cuts on my RSTD and still had the OEM pipes in a box in my garage. They're in perfectly fine shape. Had about 8000 miles on them. So, I'm looking to find out from you fine folks what they are worth so I can sell them. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks all!!

Are the Rk exhausts that much better sounding that they are worth putting on. I don't want them loud but a little louder than the stock exhaust.

So, after runninga bit with the LA Chopper slip-ons I decided to go back to stock pipes. The highway volume became so obnoxious it rattled my eardrums out! The helmet seeemed to make the volume louder- more than I could take. Too bad 'cause I liked the rumble of these pipes at idle and throttle blip. Also, so after putting stock pipes back on and taking a small roadtrip this weekend I realized another issue (I had installed a jet kit to tune the pipes)- gas mileage went down considerably! I used to get 42-45mpg and on this 300 mile trip I only averaged 28-30mpg!!! Jet kit is coming out too. Oh well, I guess it's not such a good idea to re-engineer/mess with what's not broke. RSTAR08
