  1. Good Luck with the job interview :thumbsup2: when will you know??
  2. Planning to paint my 84 this winter and am considering a silver and black combination. Anyone with this combination or other non factory 2 tones willing or able to post pictures? I have a friend who's son is apprenticing in auto body and is looking for projects plus I painted mine a few years ago and it was a quick and dirty job. I have seen some of his work and he is getting pretty good at painting. I will have to do some tab and crack repair also. Here's a before and after of my current paint job, the gold is a Nissan colour.
  3. for all you outdoors men out there heres a new website my nieces husband is building. check it out. he did a great job. he plans on expanding it to other states. it impressed me. bill www.missouri-outdoors.com
  4. I just opened my invoice for my motorcycle insurance which I received in Fri mail:mad: My insurance has just increased by just over 40% to $962.00 for the year:mad: and I don't even carry collision coverage, this is strictly liability At a time when few people are lucky to even get a 2% wage increase, assuming they still have a job, how do they even justify it:mad: The Company I am currantly with is KINGSWAY GENERAL INSURANCE and you can bet I will be switching.:mad: ANY SUGGESTIONS FROM CANADIAN RIDERS WHO TO CHECK OUT.
  5. Well it’s official, I went for my first ride tonight on a 165/80/15 Kumho PowerStar and I was not disappointed. It was just a short run (about 60 mi.) on familiar roads so as to compare the handling. The tire was pressured up to 40psi with 2oz of Dino Beads... it felt great. I bought the tire from the good folks up at ‘OK Tire’ in Stony Creek Ontario for $75. CDN Installed (I brought in the wheel off the bike). They had a bit of a time seating the tire to the rim and had to use an air-blaster to make it catch but said that they’ve had tougher jobs. I’m not sure how much pressure it took to seat the bead but it was up there. They’re great people to deal with and said they would do it again. They did a great job and I give them two thumbs up! Thanks to all those who have posted their comments and opinions (pro’s & con’s) on CT’s, it has all been interesting reading. I value all your opinions and have been reading with interest for well over a year. Now if I can only find an economical way to make it a White Wall, I like what 'eagleeye' has done with his tire!
  6. I just got my seat back from Rick Butler... I have not been able to ride yet cuz of the flooding rain here in Oklahoma. But it sure LOOKS like an outstanding job. And just to sit on her in the garage has a real nice feel under the ol keester. I just wanted to publicly THANK YOU Rick for a great job... and also check this out... I sent it on Monday of this week and got it back on Friday... how's that for a quick turn-around??? AND... since Rick says I overpaid him (and who am I to disagree, right?) He'd be glad to send a set of his seat nuts that require no wrench to remove. JEEZ! I feel like I've just hit the lottery! Well maybe not the LOTTERY, but I AM a winner! Thanks again Rick for a super job!
  7. For those of you who have ordered and received their deflectors, I just thought id pass this info on to you. I just tried this on my set and it does a great job of maintaining the shine. It brought the shine back to when it was new. http://eagleone.com/images/spacer.gifhttp://eagleone.com/images/spacer.gif http://eagleone.com/images/products/Never_Dull_Polish.jpg
  8. Well we finally got around to shooting the Black Beast, not in the put it out of its misery shoot but it now has a fresh new paint job. Spent the last three nights with my buddy from work painting it and it came out great. He did an awesome job painting it. Below are the pics of the process. Hopefully will have it reassembled in a few days...........The color is Ford Black with Pewter Trim. Had to go back with Black, after about 20 different choices, decided Black is beautiful..............:dancefool:
  9. Haven't been on here much due to life happening........so I figured I'd fill you guys in. My son got married last week, 9/6 .....unbelievable 5 day ongoing events......whole family got together, which doesn't happen near enough.....kids are in Jamaica now and we can't wait to see them when they get back. I also decided to pull the plug and retire from my job after 24 years. Seems my attitude has changed towards the people I deal with and wasn't really into doing it anymore. I have a new job in the works, something that is totally different from anything I have ever done before so I'm pretty excited. Sept 26th will be my last day. Havent been riding much, samantha and I have just been too busy getting things done here, I've even toyed with the idea of selling the bike but I think I'mgoing to hold onto it for a bit longer and see what pans out. First pic is of son and his Mom Second is the bride and groom ANyway, I still think of you all and hope to be getting on here more often.
  10. I'm getting ready to head to the airport for a trip to our corporate headquarters in Cannon Falls, MN. I will be in Minnesota today, Decorah, Iowa for 3 days then back at our main offices in Cannon Falls on Friday. Will return late Friday night. I will be checking in at night but will not be online as much or long as I usually am. Wish I had time to visit with The Owl and Juggler and others in the area but just won't be able to on this trip. Maybe next time. I'm giving you all the job of watching Mini Muffin while I'm away. I know it's a tough job and that is why I'm deputizing everybody.
  11. Well, I did it. I had my '08 RSV triked out. It's been in the shop for a week and I finally got it back this afternoon and took it for a short spin. I had the Hannigan Trike kit put on it. I think my mechanic did an amazing job on it. I'm now looking for some different rear wheels and some other chrome to add to it. Trying to attach a picture, not sure if it will work or not. 12. Enclosed is a picture of my gauge set-up, to which I owe a big thank-you to jlh3rd, V7Goose, Freebird, and several others that posted instructions, ideas, and help of all kinds that made my installation trouble-free, leak-free, and a very straightforward job. Thanks again.
  13. I was brainstorming last summer (scary as that may be) and my buddy who owns a metal fab shop and I built these hiway peg/pad extenders I am 6'6" and these do the job well on my 1st gen and sit plenty high enough not to interfere in turns Not bad for hillbilly home made
  14. I have an 08 RSV and was wondering if anyone ever had any success removing the tank bib that comes with the bike? I am getting a custom paint job done and would like to remove the bib. Any help or advice will be appreciated.
  15. Hi everyone, I am am looking for a setup to put armrests on a 99 RoadStar. My brother in laws wife does not feel secure with just the grab rails, she is short and really has a hard time reaching them. I am curious if the armrests from a first generation could some how be rigged up to do the job. I did see a post here on putting rests on an RSV but that wouldn't work in this case. Anyone have any ideas? thanks Josh
  16. Here is something for all the Vets to watch, heck, evryone on this site should be outraged by it! Note that all this is with one person who never saw the memorial complaining! I guess its the US saying thanks for a job well done! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeuBB_mOFIA]YouTube - Veterans Fight to Keep 75-yr. old Mojave Desert Memorial cross[/ame]
  17. I will be "attempting" to install new progessives tomorrow. I have never done this job but it doesn't appear to be that difficult. I've thought that before about other mods I started and what should had been easy turned out to be much more involved than I initially thought. Been burnt many times. But still this seems to be a fairly straight forward job. So, I ask, once I remove the fork caps, otherthan the old springs, what else is removed and "not" reused? Also, in addition to the new springs and the PVC looking spacer, what else should I install and/or replace? I am building that "monster" tool as recommended by Condor; a piece of 17mm Hex key soldered in a 17mm 6 pt socket. Hopefully, all goes well.
  18. Received this from New Enough a few minutes ago. So, thought I would pass it on just in case anyone was interested. Job Opening at New Enough: Product Manger Hmmm... where to look for a person who can write well, ride a motorcycle, operate a PC, juggle hundreds of new products a year and who will move to Lubbock, TX for a good job. Well, the only place I can think of is to blast out the info to our formidable customer base and see what happens! If you or a friend might be interested in the open position of Product Manger at New Enough, LTD, then send them our way! Details of the Product Manager Job Opening... As always, thanks for your patronage...
  19. This weekend I decided to change the fluids in my 99 RSV, including a good radiator flush. One thing leads to another and decided after 10 years and 120K miles, I might as well change the thermostat while I was at it, even though I haven't been having problems. First let me say this is not a job for those short on patience. To get the housing out of the bike it must be disassembled a piece at a time while still in the frame. Finally got the housing out THEN called my local stealer. Just the way I do things. Holy $#%@..., stealer said he could have the new thermostat in two weeks, that is if I would bring him the paultry sum of $57.40. "For a @#$% thermostat? are you sure you"re not looking at the housing?" "No sir, the housing is pretty expensive.":starz: Now I don't see anything special about this thermostat so off to the auto supply I go. "Hey buddy, you got one of these?" "Yep, sure do." Sure enough, it is a Murray, Part Number 3168. Cross reference says that it goes into a 2000 Kia, Mazda, and Mercury. Best of all, $7.60 later and I'm out the door. One other thing, when doing this on a bike with this many miles. The water pipes (3 ea) that go to the thermostat housing have an "O" ring seal. Mine looked good but refused to seal when I got it all back together. Take the rubber "O" rings with you and get replacements while getting your thermostat. Otherwise you can pull that housing twice like I did. Aw hell, they're $.30 each, go ahead and get them anyway, no mater how many miles you got! Anyway, I figure if I had all the parts up front and only had to do it once, this would have been about a 3-4 hour job. Took me a full day.
  20. Ecks recent post about a virus got me to wondering how many of us, including myself are IT "dudes" or "dudettes" and what's everyone's background / specialty / length of time? For myself, I am mostly self-taught. I started toying with computers around 1984 and by 1986, I sold my 3rd computer for a bigger, more powerful one with 2...yes two 3.5 inch floppy drives (no hard drive yet)! I made a deal with the purchaser that I would teach him how to use it and since he owned a hair salon, I developed a program for him to track his clients, etc. He paid me with haircuts for 2 years (yes, I did have hair at one time:D). I was out of work at the time and he suggested I put an ad in the paper to teach people how to use computers...so I did...and that's when it all started. I then got into contracting to computer training companies. At the same time, I was advancing my knowledge of database development and picking up a few clients here and there. Demand from them got me into networking and eventually becoming a full solutions provider including hardware. As time passed and word got around, I kept getting more customers and their demands forced me to continuously learn new technologies and methods to provide their solutions. I never did get any official schooling or designations or certifications...never had the time but over the years I've taught many folks who have them (surprisingly to me, I knew a whole lot more than they did about stuff). After working for myself for 20 yrs, I finally got tired of the "brain drain" the technology explosion was causing and got a "real job" working as the only technical resource for a small, in-bound call centre with a long-term, solid government contract. There was still a lot of learning to do when I came aboard but at least it was very specific. In a nutshell then, my specialties are database development, desktop support, software instructing & courseware development, and small biz networks incl forests/domains, managed routers & firewalls, etc. (no, I'm not writing my resume here .. :rotf:nor am I looking for a job )
  21. Well, if any of you has been paying attention to the news, internet, or other that gives bad news, you know approximately 1100 letters were sent out by GM Friday telling dealers bye bye. The dealership I work at, got one of those letters. Huffman Pontiac Buick GMC Inc. will no longer be, within a year. This place was built to GM's "specs" by my boss in 1998. Now GM can tell him they no longer need him. Welcome to the NEW WORLD. We are small dealership and there are several others in the area that got the letter also. It looks like they want the big dealerships left. Get rid of the little guy with hometown service and no pressure atmosphere. Well, I guess I'm thru venting now......for a minute or 2 anyway. It seems like the only good people left are the VentureRiders. Now for the "hopefully" good news is the boss is thinking about turning it into a used car lot, so that means I can keep my job, hopefully. If not, I think I'm going to fish for a living. I know I could lose some weight doing that, but my NEW wife is not so sure about that LOL!! I sold my house so that has taken a load off. Now we only have one house payment instead of 2. I am as happy as I have ever been with my life, so it would take quite a bit to get me down. I've always said if a man is looking for work, he can find a job. It might not be what he wants to do, but he can find a job. I've signed up for unemployment twice in my life and thank goodness I never had to draw the first check. If things go south with the car lot, I hope I can say that for the third time. Y'all have a great summer and ride safe. I'm gone fishing!! It's that time of year I sure miss my bike.
  22. A friend of mine has a 03 Goldwing and his wife wants to buy him some chrome , a luggage rack, and a spoiler with the led lights. I have been given the job to find these items and I need the help of the Goldwing owners , I know there are a few in here. I would like to find the best place and best price to get them. Thanks Craig
  23. I have my 87 stripped down so that is look like something out of a mad max movie. Had to take the saddle off, so I thought since it was off do a good detailing job. Any suggestions on how to clean it and whatever. D
  24. i went for a ride yesterday.. i couldnt find anyone to ride with so i went alone.. i rode 287 miles alone.. i dont know if anyone else has this problem, but when i ride alone i just cant seem to make up my mind where i am headed.. i may start heading south but may very well end up going north.. but i guess that i really dont care.. as long as i can ride.. since i have lost weight i can mount and dismount a whole a lot much easier. learning to ride at 55 -60 mph now.. i used to be very hard to not go 75+mph.. when i ride alone my buddy is not there to keep me slow down.. startin to get used to this no job thingy.. now the wife is naggin me to work around here.. gotta find a job, at least then i know when im done..lol:smile11:
  25. Guys and gals. After having my bike for a couple of years, I tend to think that white is a bit boring. I'm thinking of spending a couple of grand to give it a completely new paint job. I have some ideas in mind but was wondering if anybody else has done something similar? Would love to see some photos if you have, or be directed to any other sites you may know of where the 2nd Gen is featured with radical (or otherwise) paint work. The 2 shots below show the original, and what it would look like all pink. (Amazing what a bit of Photoshop work will do you you!)
