  1. Just installed a set of barron bag slash cut today. I love them exactly the sound I was looking for. Thanks for the deal jryan.
  2. I am looking for a OEM shop manual for my 2008 RSV. I checked with my local dealer and he said they were unavailable. He offered me an after market one that was not specifically for RSV's. I also need to get a cup holder, which may not be that big of a deal. I saw a post on here about a cup holder from Target for less than $10. Thanks for any help ya'll can offer. Charlie, Midlothian, Va
  3. There is a great deal on a Garmin Nuvi 855 on Woot today. Any of you looking for a good GPS with MP3 player and bluetooth here it is. http://www.woot.com/
  4. Actually I can't take credit for that. My son-in-law who is a journeyman mechanic did it, I just watched. As it turned out he did a totally professional job. We had trouble with one stator bolt that would not break loose. He had to actually take the stator assembly to his shop, weld a nut onto the bolt and then take it off. While he was there he cleaned it all up and then came back and he completed the install. We didn't solder the wires, he re-used the connector. Like I said he did a beautiful job. And I have to thank Brad (Squidley) for his comments as well. I'll be the first to admit I'm not a wrench. If I had attempted to do this solo my wife would have eventually found me curled up in the fetal position on the cold garage floor or sitting underneath my toolbox with a bottle of tequila gripped between my fists mumbling stark, imprecations against Yamaha, the government and realtors but not necessarily in that order. So here's the deal. Yeah so I don't know my Robertson's from my Philips head screw drivers. Who cares? I have a mechanic for a son-in-law. Anyway where was I...Oh yeah, the deal. I have a perfectly good OEM stator out of my 2004 RSV that I want to put in the classifieds and Ebay but I have no idea what it might be worth. Anyone have an idea what it might be worth? Thank you in advance. Chris in Red Deer, Alberta.
  5. yes, thats right my sweet little wife has said to get the gps I want she knows not what she has done. I know some people have bought new ones lately and I am looking for the best deal. so where to buy and what model do you recomend? been looking at the zumo 665.
  6. I am back! I made a sweet deal on an 07 Tour Deluxe this afternoon! Let's see, this will be the third time around for me. If things work out I should get it this Saturday. It has 1200 miles on it!
  7. EBAY's deal of the day. Not sure of the quality but I ordered one... http://cgi.ebay.com/Live-Mechanics-Leather-%26-Casual-Jackets---11-Styles/360356083612?_trksid=p1468660.m2000036
  8. Michigan is offering a deal on state park fees. if you get you new license plate with your state park tab for your car at the same time its only $ 10. bucks. so told the woman I'm going to get one for the scooter too! now what I didn't know is for a bike its only $ 5. bucks now thats a great deal and every year I bought a sticker at $ 24. dollars now this year I get the car and bike for $ 15. now thats a good deal
  9. Ok guys, if you need a new rear tire, or are going to need a new tire in the near future you better get it ordered. As I have stated many times before, I always check with Motorcyclesuperstore first when thinking about ordering something. Well, today I got an email about a sale they were having on tires so I thought well maybe I'd get a better deal than the last(which was pretty good 130.99, I thought) which was an E3 rear for Biggal. To my surprise the sale price was 141.99!!! I thought this had to be a mistake so I called them up and they confirmed that price. When asked if I wanted to order I said no. Hung up the phone and checked Jake Wilson and they have the same tire for 130.99. So I guess the oil prices are beginning to affect everything else. Like I said, if you need or gonna need a new tire soon Jake Wilson has the best deal right now. They may even be higher in a few days!!!!!
  10. Looks like we worked out a deal for Dan, (my 16 yoa son) buying a 2001 V-Star 650 Custom with just 5275 miles on it. The testing deal is for $2000.00 We will be going to Walnut Grove, MN on Saturday to check it out. If it runs ok and he fits on it, it will be trailered home. (high only 27 degrees forcast) The only problem I can see from the Craig's list pics is that it was laid down once and has a dent the fuel tank. I think, hope, that could be fixed easily. If not, I think we could locate a replacement. Pinwall more than likely. Wish us luck Dave
  11. Here's something that might interest you. 1986 Royale for $2000. Obviously needs some work, but if your handy, why not. http://www.autotrader.ca/a/Yamaha/1300+ROYAL+VENTURE/LONDON/Ontario/5_10141503_ON20071122100019686/?ms=motorcycles_atvs Thomas
  12. Lightning Deal! $62.99 - Midland 40-Channel Two-Way Radio http://amzn.to/GoldboxDeals I am thinking this might work for my RSTD so I can communicate with my RSV chatterbox friends. Yes? No? The deal ends when it is sold out, or by noon Central time. What do you think? Dave
  13. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Royal-Star-YAMAHA-VENTURE-ROYAL-STAR-TRIKE-KIT-/120685474848?pt=US_motorcycles&hash=item1c196a3420 Somebody that was getting old could use this!!

    Cheap GPS

I just ran across this while browsing Ben's Outlet. Looks like a real deal. http://bensoutlet.com/products/nextar-m3
  15. I get weekly emails from Motorcycle Gear (old name was New Enough) and they have a great sale going on for new HJC CL-Max Helmets for $64.99. This is a full face, flip up helmet. I bought one for the hubby last year and it's a nice helmet. Just wish I would have gotten that good of a sale on it. Anyway....just wanted to pass along a great deal. I tried to copy and paste it here but to no avail. Website is: www.motorcyclegear.com Deb
  16. I found a couple of White Wall Dunlop at Motorcycle Superstorm for $211.98. Are they good folks to deal with? If anyone has dealt with them?
  17. Well it is our turn to get the crappy weather. Time to hunker down in doors here in South Dakota. 2 to 5 inches today with another 10 to 12 tomorrow. So far wind gusts of up to 43 mph. Dang it all anyway, now I cant get the bike out..........Ok maybe not. Everybody stay safe and have a great new year! I just threw in the stir the pot deal cause the fire looked warm!
  18. Firstly, thanks for all the input to my "What should we buy" thread. We looked at Ford, Dodge, and Chev (Nina wasn't too excited about Nissan or Toyota). Almost did a deal on an '07 F150 4x4 but it was just a bit beyond our budget. Then we found this 2005 Chev Silverado 1500 2x4 extended cab LS model with only 56,000 Kilometers on it .... whittled them down to 12,500 and made the deal ... hopefully will be picking it up tonight (pending financing). 19. My Battery Tender went on the fritz about a year ago and I only recently got around to sending it back to the manufacturer. The unit I had came with the '83 Venture when I bought it in September 2006, so I have no idea how old it was by then. Long story short: the unit was completely beyond warranty (it was the older version with a 5-year limit), so they called me and said “we'll just send you a new, improved one, with a 10-year warranty, for $45, including shipping”. (I am aware that there are good prices available for this unit online, but this deal still beat the lowest price I could find when you include the delivery expense.) I said OK, they sent it, and now I have it, all within about a week. A very good deal for me + a great product + excellent/considerate Customer Service + prompt turn-around time, which all adds up to an exceptional “Good Vendor” experience! Edited at 2:05 PM on 12/07/10: Sorry, folks, I incorrectly thought that by mentioning "manufacturer" you would realize I was referring to the makers of the Battery Tender products. Deltran Corporation 801 International Speedway Blvd., Deland, Florida 32724 Here's a link to their website: http://batterytender.com/ Habib the Re-Charged
  20. Well, it seems everytime one of my buddies comes up with a crazy, hair brain idea they end up coming to me. I must have a rep as a nut job to be targeted like this. Well, yeah, done some odd things myself. I'm gonna need all the advise I can get on this one. So here's the deal. Buddy used to hill climb Yammy Y2's that he stretched out. He's getting back into it and he's shooting to do the 600cc 2 stroke class. Sounds simple right? Buy a 600cc 2 stroke and stretch it. Simple. Nope. Not this guy. He's found a sled engine, a Rotax 570 that pushes 105 hp. He's got a couple of frames that it will fit into nicely. The deal is.....the drive system is the dual centifigul clutch/pulley set up from the sled. Get the picture? So.... the drafting of a plan is on the board to find a way to go to a single clutch/belt drive to more than likely a jackshaft to convert to chain drive to the rear wheel. In my mind....too much HP would be lost through a jackshaft setup. Not to mention the issues of tenisoning the belt from clutch to jackshaft. My thought is to use a single notched belt from the centrifigul clutch to a notched hub pulley on the rear wheel. Tension adjustment would be simpler and less power loss. Now I might mention the last time I messed with centifigul clutches was when I built my first mini bike. I see this working but it's going to take some creative engineering to pull it off. But like it has been said here before......Nothing is impossible. Anybody care to throw some ideas out this way? Mike
  21. I just received mailing in today's mail announcing going out of business auction for Chicago Cycle, Inc. in Lincolnwood, IL. Auction is this Saturday, Oct. 30th beginning at 10:00 am. Preview is Friday. Chicago Cycle is (was) a very large dealership, with a primary focus toward the sportbike community, but then again, aren't they all. I am surprised by this move, as Chgo cycle has always been a prominent sponsor of the annual International Cycle Show in Chgo. This link should get you there. http://www.mikepetersonauctioneers.com/auction.php?auction_id=1072 Mike Peterson runs a pretty good auction, however, I am not sure if internet bidding is offered this time. I expect there will be a large volume of helmets, jackets, rain gear and other apparel. You may be able to get a good deal on something you need. I got a good deal on some J&M headsets at the Chgo. Sports & Cycle (different company) auction last year.
  22. I have a 1990 VR with 96K miles on it. Been a GREAT bke! Recently had the stator go out. During my research here for threads on replacement ideas I came upon a discussion about replacing the R/R whenever you replace the stator. From reading these posts I concluded I should also replace the R/R. Just for good insurance if for no other reason. Question: Is there any way I can get in on the group buy deal for one of those Shindengen FHO12AA regulator / rectifiers ? Does any one have an extra one they would part with ? I can find them else where but you guys worked the best deal I can find. GREAT job ! Thanks for the help. Red Baron
  23. Just ran across this and thought it might be a deal for anyone looking for an engine. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260671594241&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT
