  1. I am looking to get a seat and backrest for my RSTD... I have a Mustang seat on my VTX1300 and I like it, but I recently sat on an Ultimate seat and man was it nice..... I was wondering if I could get some feedback, good, bad, or indiferent from anyone that has had either of these on their RSTD or RSV.. Thanks, Robert C.
  2. After I did the carb sync, the bike now vibratres quite bad upon hard acceleration in any gear. Any ideas?
  3. Ok first the good...built my bracket and harness for the stebel airhorn. Works great and since I had it and the aluminum stock laying around it cost zero dollars. Now the BAD. I attacked the job of splitting the fairing yesterday to find the previous owner had glued the chrome windshield mole on because one of the end tabs was broken. I see no choice but to buy it and it looks like 140 bucks or so! crappy design! Also I see that my windshield retaining strip like some others on here was assembled and the 2 center bolts left out. It's under warranty but with the broken chrome I am sure this will somehow be my fault. The whole thing makes me sick... anyone ever have to have stuff like that handled under warranty? It also looks like there may be some seeping around the rear diff mounting flange. On the plus side... we did go for a 120 mile ride today... I was staring at the tape holding the chrome on the whole time :-( Frank
  4. My trunk is busted up pretty bad from stress cracks and I need a new one. The PO tried repairs with something that looks like JB Weld and did a bad job. Pieces gone, etc. Anybody use an aftermarket one? Which one? Which ones do I avoid? I see a bunch on them on eBay and I am open to suggestions. I'm sure I'm not the first to ask about this but haven't found a thread so far. Thanks for helping the newbie.
  5. decided to get a lift for my 2000RSV. thought i would try the new tractor supply and buy the big red 1500lb lift for 119.00. lift seemed ok but noticed the welds on the locking mech were bad and was bent too. I had them order a new one and it came back just as bad. needless to say i returned it and went to sears to look at the craftsman 1500 for the same price. I had them open the box so i could compare before i took it home. The craftsman lift seemed far superior in most ways--foot pedal release, spring loaded locking mech, attacheable T-handle to move were a couple. **best news it was on sale for 99.00. guess now it is time to get a lift adapter or takle making one myslef.
  6. I have had an intermittent problem with the HID light fron Canadian Cruiser Customizing since Jan. I have been in contact with Scott over there and while he has returned my emails right away there has been no solution. I followed all of his recommendations and initially the problem went away. The other night the light didnt work at 2 am and I depended on my LED driving lights to get home. In our first conversation Scott said its possible the ballast is bad. I raised that issue again with him this time and requested the ballast be replaced under the remaining warranty, something I requested back in Jan. He said its either bad or good and I could send it back to him for testing. He also said the wiring could be pulled too tight. Told him that the shipping cost alone back and forth would almost justify buying a new ballast. I said that it was installed properly, no stretched connections and that I knew what I was doing, in a nutshell. I also said it almost sounds like your trying to not honor the warranty. This was Sat. Like I said, he always responded within a few minutes. Its now 2 days and no response. While I hope I didnt hurt his feelings I dont enjoy going lightless at night, when I do most of my riding.
  7. I got a call at work from my GF that she needs help with the dog. The dog wen thru the front window and got cut up and is bleeding all over the place. So I leave work and beat feet home, made the 45 minute drive in 30. The dog has several lacerations to her front leg and there is a hole in the front window. It turns out that some strange guy was trying to break in the front door and the dog was going ballistic trying to get him to stop. She was in full blown protect mode of the GF and house. The guy beat feet as soon as the front window broke and the dogs head came out, about 3 feet from the door. Fortunately the dogs injuries are not bad. Once I got all of the hair trimmed away from the cuts I decided that there was no serious internal damage and it was just some shallow cuts in the skin so there was no vet bill to deal with. I'll check it again when I get back home from work to be sure but am not expecting any issues. So is she a good dog for chasing away the bad guy and protecting the GF, or a bad dog for going thru the window and bleeding all over the living room carpet???? On the bright side, I am a design engineer for a place that makes commercial carpet cleaning equipment, so I have access to the latest and greatest technology in carpet cleaning, blood is not an issue to get out of off white carpet (don't ask how I know this:whistling:). AAAArrrrrggggg........ I really had plans other than cleaning the carpet tonight.
  8. Got a nice for Christmas but did not come with instructions. Any one offer advice on how to install this bad boy?
  9. Unbelievable, Oregon will spend millions to run this near minuscule revenue stream. This is what gives government a bad name. http://news.motorbiker.org/blogs.nsf/dx/electric-motorcycles-if-they-dont-get-you-one-way-theyll-get-you-anyway.htm
  10. Big snowstorm, eh?!!? In anticipation of all the media hype, all schools were closed. Well, last night we did gewt a little freezing rain, with maybe a half inch of crusty snow, but that was it! Presently it is snowing with a little wind. The way the media presented it, it was going to be the storm of the century and we were all gonna die!!! It was hilarious listening to the news this morning before work, one station, our conservative one, saying things were nowhere as bad as expected, the other liberal stations pl;aying it up like it was a disaster out and we haven't seen anything yet!! One radio station described us as in the hole of a donut, with the bad stuff all around us but not on us! Hey, this is Buffalo, it's winter. Deal with it!!!
  11. North Atlanta Trade center... I had hoped to set up a meet and eat and ride to this event, but things have been nuts at my house / work lately (not a bad thing, just a thing). Anyway, anyone else planning on going tomorrow? Supposed to be sunny and low 60's in the afternoon. The wife and I are planning on going for a while in the afternoon. A link to the venue-show
  12. New seating position for a second passenger! http://i521.photobucket.com/albums/w337/Owen064/168297_1818545466936_1339132101_31975998_2840702_n.jpg

    HD Nova?

I got this link in my email today, it's for an early '80s designed HD that never made it to production. Too bad too, it looks pretty interesting. http://big-diesel.blogspot.com/2007/09/nova-harley-davidson-which-was-never.html
  14. Reading the drudge Report this morning and they had an article about the new $100 Franklin. Wonder how long it will take the bad guys to conterfit this one??
  15. Ice build up tore my gutter down along with some siding ,soffet and facia boards........on the way down it hit 2 of my air conditioners.... If thats not bad enough my sliding glass doors are leaking this morning and my toilet ball rod just snapped off..........HAPPY NEW YEAR.........:bawling:I hope this is not the way the rest of my year is going to be...on the other hand , Bongobob invited me over for LASAGNA..YA HOO!!!..maybe I take that BAD juju over to his house and leave it there.....50 degrees and rain this morning....I love living in BUFFALO...!!!!!!!!!!
  16. I wanted to get a louder horn for my RSV and didn't have the extra cash to swing for a Stebel. I had read a few comments on here that the Bad Boy's were quiet a bit louder than the stock horn, but not quiet as loud as the Stebel. I got my Bad Boy today and hooked it up. Got all excited and hit the button and no where near as loud as the stock horn. I'm very disappointed, I could have used that money on something else for the bike.
  17. So another year is drawing to a close. There have been some good times and bad times during 2010. I wish I could say that it was the best year ever but for many folks, it simply wasn't. We had some members with serious health issues, some that lost jobs, others that lost loved ones and still others that saw long lasting relationships come to an end. I've had my own share of problems but I need only to look around to realize that I don't have it so bad. I have so many things to be thankful for. I have a secure job, a roof over my head, plenty of food. I have a family that loves me and that includes a wife that is so lovely and sweet that I thank God for her every day of my life. I hope that she NEVER comes to realize how much better she could do than me. One more thing though, and I am so very serious about this. I am so thankful for the family that we have become here. Let's face it folks, some days are better than others. We all have a bad day from time to time but when those days come around, I can always come here....here to my extended family...and there will be something that makes me smile. It could be some good natured teasing, a stupid joke, an act of kindness that one of you has shown to another.....many things here bring a smile to my face on a daily basis. I wish each and every one of you a Very Merry Christmas. I thank you for the joy that you have brought to my life and I thank you so much for being a VentureRider member. If it weren't for each of you....who the heck would read this?
  18. My Tarus is acting up again. Don't want to warm up takes it forever for heater to get warm never gets hot. Driving down the road it will cool down at times til it is blowing cold air. Running at Interstate speeds it will stay barely warm. Thermostat junk?? Always just stuck on me when they went bad and cause thing to overheat. I guess this is better if it has to act up but a heater would be nice......
  19. True story: The weather here has been better than some places, but still too cold in the mornings to ride the hour + to work for me. The forecast for this morning was for 31 degrees with a high of 62. No kidding, I actually woke up at 3:00 AM thinking "I can do 31 degrees" then went back to sleep. At 6:00 when I got up I said "what was I thinking!" So cage to work again. Time passes, take a break at 2:30 and walk outside. 64 degrees, no wind, not a cloud in the sky. Go back inside and make some lame excuse to the boss, and out the door to home I go to get the bike. I can probably get in a good three hours road time. Kewel. All the way driving home I'm thinking "Which way this time?" West, naw nothing but city that way. South? nope, go that way a lot. East? possibly, go that way a lot too. North? been a while, roads not bad, north it is!!! Get a half mile from the house and the COUNTY HAS GOT THE ROAD CLOSED UNTIL AROUND 5:30PM. Only other way is on a BAD gravel road with a few sand pits thrown in for good measure. I don't usually use bad language, but sometimes you have to express your feelings or explode. Come on summer.
  20. I have a chance at a 1999 Venture with 12,000 miles at a good price. Do any of you know of any bad news of the 99's? Thanks.
  21. Think I'd rather have snow right now. We have a fire that's been burning for several days not far from us....and it was deliberately lit!!! We couldn't sleep last night as the smoke was really bad. Fire fighters working 12 hour shifts, and the wind is creating big problems for them. I'd like to get hold of the lousy buggers...I'd give them burn!!!
  22. My wife drives an 2006 Malibu 4cyl auto. It is making a humming noise in the front end. I have rotated the tires, no change. jacked up and checked for any free play in both sides, nothing that i could feel. While still in the air with car in drive the noise is there and only changes with the speed of the wheels or vehicle speed. Don't think it is related to engine or trans cause the sound does not change with the rpm only wheel speed. The sound is not a clunking sound that I would think a bad cv joint but like the sound of big mud tires on a truck! Could it be a hub assembly going bad and not have any noticeable looseness? Any thought or help would be appreciated.
  23. My son is turning 16 this weekend, so he is inheriting the 1999 Jeep Wrangler that I use for bad weather transportation. I am getting my wifes 2004 GMC Sierra for my bad weather vehicle and the wife got... Its a 2011 Camaro SS/RS SS2, manual 6 speed with sunroof and factory Hurst shifter. Not a bad little commuter.
  24. Hi All The other day we were cleaning the shed. I had pulled the bike out for more room. After a bit christy and I turned to see two bad kids trying to highjack the bike! Bonny and Clyde they are not. Who Let The Dogs Out Bull463
  25. Good afternoon everyone, Both hi and low beam on my 08 RSV went out last week. I have been reading the threads on this problem and have done the starter switch lube and fuse checking. I have read there might be a possibility of the Reserve Light Unit going bad but how often is this a problem? I'm not sure as to what direction to take at this point. Its difficult to get to the headlight lamp but is it possible for both hi and low to go bad in one lamp? Any suggestions would be helpful. By the way, everything else is working fine, it's just the headlight. Thanks Frank
