That is #1 on the list of the 20 things I hate about the 1st Gen.

Mike is a great guy to deal with.I told him I had a Vstar for sale and he paid exactly what I was asking for it sight unseen. Can hardly wait for the food.

You are three days and a dollar short. Tuesday I sold my 2005 V Star 650 Silverado with the owners manual and the service manual with it.Should have asked sooner and I would have sent them to you.

Better hurry up with this one.Sold one bike yesterday and three more to go.Might just have to ride a moped up there.

I have a set of Frogg toggs that thatworks great that I paid $69 for them.Yesterday while at sams club I found a set of Rain Gear that is identical to the Frogg Togg.I took them home and compared the tags that they came with and they are identical information on them as the frogg toggs and they were only $26.95.Supposed to rain today so i will give them a test.Great deal I think. http://www.samsclub.com/sams/shop/product.jsp?productId=prod1113446

I don't know about a bracket for the 83.I did install Road Kings on my 86 without any brackets.i took out the rear bolt holding the saddle bags on and replaced the metric with a longer standard bolt.I screwed the bolt straight into the threaded bracket on the road kings.i drilled out the RK mufflers but they are still not much louder than the stock but they do have a little rumble to them.

The 1st Gens are FASTER and don't let those 2nd Gen guys tell you any different. I will have to ask Skid if the 1st gen is faster than the 2nd gen.

Just as a suggestion.I would put a car tire on the rear.I had my sidecar on my 1999 for almost five years now.I have 20,000 miles on the car tire and it isn't showing any sign of wear yet.I paid $65 for the tire and never had any regrets.I have a rear tire on the front of my Venture with 14,000 miles on it and it is starting to cup a little so I will replace it with another rear tire.Just food for thought. The hack will go through front tires real fast.I have had good luck with the rear tire on the front.Otherwise enjoy the trip and your Venture.
