My wife of 43 years is a German. I spent 6 years in Neu Ulm Germany and 10 years in Frankfurt. being from North Carolina I speak hillbilly German.I have been in every country in Europe and all the east block countries and the Soviet Union.I was working on the Pershing nuclear missiles for 23 years and when the USA and the Soviet Union signed the INF treaty to eliminate the intermediate range missiles I was on the inspection team inspecting their missiles in the Soviet union and East Germany. We eliminated all the Pershing rocket launchers at my shop in Frankfurt and I was at Longhorn Army Ammunitation Plant in Karnack Texas for all the missile eliminations.I had a camper that I pulled behind my Chevy conversion van and everytime we got free time we traveled, and trust me I had lots of free time.i was the contracting officer for Martin Marietta, the only military person on my installation,so I had all the time off I wanted because my boss was at redstone Arsenal Alabame. We had satellite phones so if I was in Italy when he called if needed I could be back in Germany in a couple hours.I loved Germany.
