I've thought about that this could happen when Bob wrote somewhere alse his Foot is getting worse. Please give him a big Hug from me and and i'll keep him in my Thoughts. Would love to be there and help out, but the Distance is pretty a long Distance.

My two Cents ... The Tranny isn't damaged in the 2Gen's by lugging, underreving the Engine. The Tranny, as well as primary Gears and Crankshaft are under heavy Stress at such low RpM. Only the Fact that Bearings, Crankshaft and everything else is more than Bulletproof prevents the Engines from failing in dozen's caused by riding constanly under such Condition. These lower RpM's and heavy load under this Conditions are causing a Resonance in the whole Driveline from Crankshaft to final Drive. This Resonance is killing the final Drives, because they are the weakest Point in the whole Ensemble. with the highest Torque Level/which means mechanical Force) at the lowest Revelation. Now, i'm not pointing with my Finger on Eddy, i'm sure there's something else not right and this contributes to the early passed out Pumpkins as well as riding two up, at low RpM and pulling a Traler behind. The Whine which is bothering some 2Genners could be seen as the first Stage. If i would be Eddy, i'd sure buy a Pumpkin from a Vmax or FJR1300 and be one happy Camper. Just my 2 Cents, only technically spoken and not offending or blaming anyone.

George, other than two Holes and the Thread in one Hole for the Speedo Pickup Secure Bolt, the final Drives are completly the same. Since they ARE the same, there's the Tranny which makes the Difference. The 2Gen Tranny is way overdriven in 5th Gear. So there might be the Problem. These V4 Motors produce enough Torque even when your lugging the Engine. You won't even notice it, because the Rider would find that normal. The 2Gen doesn't even have a Tach. That would be helpful imho. Seeing the Rider operating only at 2.5 k to 4.5 would encourage them for picking up RpM.

I think some Folks are putting this Insurance/Legal Issue down to a Point where it seems not to count. It's not. I may be stressing this, but as long as the Insurance Company doesn't state that they are fine with are CT on the Bike, and manifest this in a Piece of Paper with an accountable Undersign on it, i wouldn't feel very comfortable with it. They could make you responsible and accountable for all Costs of an Accident. This could be everything you own and will own in your Life. As i said before, technically spoken, there are some Things in Question, on the other Hand there is Lot of Proof that this works for a Lot of People and i won't reiterate all this again. The 'Fight' you both are helding here is over this CT Issue in Tone is way beyond Kindergarten. You should both look into yourself and slap your Backhead just once. Then go back to normal Mode. Edit .... i was typing too slow for getting my Comment in, TT was faster on that

Venture Royal wont start.

Very good, i'm glad you got that sorted out -
I like the overall Design, Head Light is ugly. I would go for a round one immediately. The Scoops are not the best Design, but i could live with them. 3 Months or so ... :rotf::rotf: Design is nothing to argue about. Different Folks, different Taste. Each to his own. But seeing the Price Tag and considering the 'poor' Tech Data. I will go for a Project Bike and make my very own 2nd Gen Vmax.

Highway speed vibration
Squeeze replied to Jethroish's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
That all said, these lower RpM's and a Lot of Load on the Motor will not do any good on the Crankshaft Bearings. Full Throttle is Ok, when the Revs are beyond 3.5 k. Constantly doing full Throttle Roll On's from 3k are stressing the Bearings a Lot and can cause premature Wear. -
By Chance, did you operate the Clutch Lever while the Plate Package was out of the Basket ? If so, the hydraulic Slave Cylinder could be in full extended Position and because there was nothing which pushed the Piston back. In that case, try to move the Mushroom shaped Piece towards the left Side of the Bike. You even may have to use a Hammer and a small piece of Wood and carefully work this Thing back in Place where it belongs. Don't open the Lid of the Mastercylinder during this, the Fluid will spray out of the Reservoir. Other Things which would cause this, are the Rods which are moved by the Slave Cylinder. There's a long Rod which has a round and a more flatter End, the round End has to go to the Piston of the Slave, the flat End towards the Ball. The Ball contacts the shorter, mushroom shaped Rod which goes to the Pressure Plate.

I think the usual Suspects are up in front this Weekend. Ferrari, McLaren, BMW a bit slower. Probably the Toyotas could give us a Surprise this Weekend. Williams/Rosberg might be a bit in advantage of the Track Layout and Track Surface. If you won't take a early Rest in the Wall of Champions, you gotta stay cool. I'd say this could be Raikonnen's Turf. He has to catch up and his move in Monaco sure leaves a Lot of Improvement. Massa is fast and his 3rd Place in Tax City wasn't a good result. McLaren will be strong also. Maybe Kovalainen can take Advantage of Hamilton's not so cool and error free Runs. If you loose the Car in Montreal, you're out on most Situations, that will be Hamilton's Proof. He made a Lot of Mistakes and won Monaco only by making an Error at the best possible Timing and others making Errors and having bad Luck on Weather Conditions. I will hold back my Prediction until i've seen today's Practices.

I don't know how it works in US, but here in Germany, if they find anything illegal on the Bike they will go to make you responsible for the Accident happened. Even if the Issue has nothing to do with the Accident. It is one Thing to file a Claim against an Insurance for not paying you, but it is sure another Thing to get sued by an Insurance for Reimbursement of any Costs of the opposing Party. The Insurance has to pay at first hand and without regarding the Facts they have. But they will go after you with everything they have (which is everything in such a Case) and after everything you have, moneywise spoken. So, being in an Accident, regardless of who's at Fault, will give you a good Chance in loosing everything you ever earned in the Past and everything you will earn in the Future. Only Way to avoid this, is to get the Tire writen into the Papers, but you will find no Engineer here which certifies a CT on a leaning Vehicle. Sidecars, Trikes will get a Sign from somebody, but sure not a leaning Vehicle as a Motorcycle.

Put this Fluid Sensor Thing way behind in your Plan. You don't need it fixed at the Moment. I agree on the new Clutch Slave. Rebuild takes a Lot of Time, it doesn't make sense and is a Pain. You will need a the rear left Gasket anyway and watch out for the Copper Washer on the lowest middle Bolt on that Cover.

No longer Stroke here. Stroke remains 66mm. Bore is 90 mm instead of 76(1200cc) or 79mm(1300cc.

Venture Royal wont start.
Squeeze replied to woz111's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I'm not sure about the '84. The '83 took the Vaccum above the Butterfly Valves and therefore the Port for the Sensor is in the Carb. The later Models utilize the Vacuum from the front left(#2) Intake Manifold. This goes for both Versions of the Ignitor Unit. -
Sure, VVT by hydraulic Cam Shifting and operating the EX Cams.
-
The Scoops aren't fake anymore. Upper Intakes feed the Airbox, lower Intakes on each Side are for cooling Purpose utilized.

Sorry, i was asking the wrong Question. The right Question would have been, how much does one pay recently for a new Wing ? MSRP is nice to know, but i figure nobody pays MSRP.

There are only two different Units. One is '83 to '89, the other is from '90 upwards. The most seen Difference is the early Units used two Pickup Coils with a two Path Flywheel, the younger ones have only one Coil and a fitting Flywheel. -
I don't know of which Bike you're talking, but if it would have been a MKII, the EAND (Anti Dive) System is operated by the electric Coils on the Forks. I'm not sure if it is operated only by applying front Brake or also by rear Brake. But if so, this would be normal, if it is operated same as the Brake Light by both Switches, the rear Switch or the Connection might be bad ?

I read some Comments of the Engineers and the outside Dimnsions seem to be very close to our current Engines. Even the Ports on the Exhaust would fit a 2Gen if you exchange the Heads. But the Airbox is almost double the Size of a Vmax Airbox and this wouldn't fit easy. But other than this the mechanical Dimension wouldn't make it impossible. Output Gear Ratio seems also be much different. But this would involve heavy electronics Work also. There are variable Trumpets(Air Horns inside the Airbox) and Ride by Wire System and Catalytic Converter.

Hard to break loose
Squeeze replied to clarkrcdc's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
This is a right Hand Thread. Here's a Thread discussing the Clutch Basket recently. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=22000 I had to sit the End of my extended Vice Grip against the Water Pump Casing and use a 2.5 Feet Extension Tube over the 1/2" T-Handle and 30 mm Socket. -
How much is a new Wing currently ?

The Mazda RX8 even has a Turbo Charger mounted on its rotary Heart. Seals aren't a Problem anymore, since the new Materials have taken Place in the Automotive Industry. These Motors are high Perfomance and you can expect a long Life out of them. The Fuel Consumption is slightly less than on comparable Motors/Cars. Effiency is not only a Question of Seals, but also on Drag of Bearings on any moving Parts and Losses due to moving a Cam Timing Device. Also, because there's no BANG !! in the Motor, you can not only use less Bearings, but also dimension the needed ones smaller. These Rotary have their Share, but they never will get broad Attention. Why ?? I don't know ...

Sorry George, but other than common Sense and what you stated so far, i don't have any UK Bike Expertise. I always managed to keep them away from me. :) What i know is what you already stated. The Amal Carbs are the best in the Junk and the old Electrics(not only, but a Lot of Lucas) are best functioning as an Example how not to do something. Regarding the Carb, i could call our local Mikuni Guru, Stephen Topham and ask him for his Opinion. Regarding the Charging System, i'd go to a local Shop and would have them the Stator rewired with nowerdays Wire and to a 3-Coil System as our Bikes have. Fit a standard R/R from a recent Bike and be good to go. If they used a DC Generator, well i'd have to think about it.
