I agree on that. Once there was a Time when you hit anything in the Pit, be it your old Tire or a Air Hose or anything else, you get a black Flag, come in and park the Car. Period.
-
But Pads are cheaper than anything else on the Bike, which might be replaced after you layed it down.

I agree, it was nice Race. The best Man won. Danica was not bad at all, but she was just good enough and the Crash in Pit Lane was partially bad Jugdement by her. On the main Issue, from my Experience, if you want to see the Race, watch TV. But feeling the Speed, hearing the Sound of the Cars and everything is one thing you should have experienced if your interested in the Racing Circus. If i would visit a Race, i always would choose to see some Action on Friday and/or Saturday during Practice and Qualifying, and watch the Race on Sunday from TV. But i've been to many Races in several Classes over the Years and been spoiled by a Lot of Pit Passes and Backdoor Entrances. A Indycar Race though, misses on my List, yet....

Other than cleaning the Connectors, there's nothing to do about the Sensor. It should check out god,or it's time to replace the Sensor.
-
Best Thing would check the Sensor for it's electrical Function. The Procedure is stated in the Manual. If you haven't got a Manual right now, you can find the Links to downoad it here in the 1Gen Tech Section. A Member is providing the pdf File. The Change in Knocking could also be just the the Lack of Air when closing the the Vacuum Port with the Hose.

12.5 Liter/100km is a bit steep, at least, i'd say. Check your Vaccuum Sensor. You could undo the Hose with the Motor running on Idle and sucking on the Hose with a MightyVac or your Mouth. The Idle should change, so should the Timing start to show Difference.
-
How come, you think the Timing is off ?? There is nothing to adjust the Timing. If you check the the Marks on the Flywheel using a Timing Light, make sure you hook up Cylinder #1, which is the left rear Cylinder when sitting in the Bike. If there's something wrong with your Bike, bad starting, bad Mileage, knocking or whatelse, you need to dig into the Ignition System. There is a Vacuum Sensor hooked up to the front left Cylinder #2, check the Hose for Leaks and the Connector for bad Contact. You could check the Wires from the TCI to the Sensor for Continuity and according to the Manual for Output Voltage.

Massa's Head Engineer was totally thrilled about the Time which brought him up in Pole. For me it seemed, the filled him up to last until just before half Race. Then a Stop with remaining on prime Tire and a splash and dash with Option Tires. Kimi will do fine, he's cool enough to maintain whatever he can get and will keep the Championship open. McLaren 's looking very good the Moment, but Hamilton looked very hard on the Car. If he drives this Way through the whole race, a dnf is sure IMO. Be it a ruined or a wrecked Car. You mean until June, 2nd ?? My Lathe sure would make some 'Aftermarket' Bushings out of Brass or Delrin(black) depending what Material you would prefer, but i'm sure i wouldn't bring them over to you in Time. But i know i Guy in Indiana, who might have a Lathe also ...

Red front Row, silver 2nd row and my Prediction seems out of Space. Now, i'll wait for the Race and keep my Mouth shut. The BMW's are way off and the older Drivers seem to produce more Crashes than the young Guns.

Give the Carbs Bowls a slight Hit with the Grip of a Screwdriver. There's a Float Valve stuck, probably due to the big Angle you have had her. Should be gone by then. A complete Carb Cleaning is always a good Idea, but not necessary on a '07 Bike,

Well, even if such Laws would find a Way. The Supreme Court would stop them. Big Oil would shout out loud "Socialization of an whole Industry" ...

I agree 100 Percent. It's a 1300 cc Motor ... At least, you're willing to believe that. I thought about how to figure this out, but the only secure Way to stipulate it, is to measure the Piston Diameter. But i'm sure, you're not willing to undo a Head or drop the Oil pan. -
I doubt that. You think under the Assumption that the US Crude would be sold and processed only in US and only under the Influence of Production Costs plus some Earnings as a traditional Price Building Procedure. This sure doesn't apply here. Big Oil would sell the US Crude to the US Refineries at the same Price as they could buy foreign Oil. Nowadays, the Market Price is driven by Speculations a Lot more than it ever occured. Hedge Fonds going into the Market with a huge Pile of Cash and with their Attitude and Size of the Wallet, they can make the Price go where they want it. My Guess would be, fourty Percent of the Market Price is only Speculation. These is only my personal Opinion, feel free to ignore or dump it. :rotf:

Not that i want to shoot too much Holes in your Theory, but think about mine ... It's 1200 cc Motor, a previous Owner heard about the new Clutch(Vmax/Diaphragm Style) is holding better than the six Springs Version and replaced the whole Assembly once the Clutch Plates were gone. What Kind of 'Trouble' you're talking about ? With the proper Tools at Hand, changing the Hub and the Basket doesn't take more than 10 Minutes extra Time. On my Max, i changed the Plates last Week, took me 20 Minutes to replaced the Parts and bolt everything down, but 40 Minutes to get the old Gasket scratched off the Cover. -
How involved are MC inspections in your State?
Squeeze replied to Tartan Terror's topic in Watering Hole
I won't write a Book over the (in-)famous german TueV. They check EVERYTHING including Emissions. A short Test Ride by the Inspector is mandatory. -
I'm not gonna play Devil's Advocate here, but what makes you believe that the Oil which comes from US Soil would cost less than all the other Oil ?? I'd rather believe the Companies would argue that the World Market Prices also apply to US Crude and wouldn't sell under that. Why ?? Because the Shareholders rather wants to make BIG Profit than making big Profit. And they are paying a Lot to the Directors to make the most out of it.

Not that i want to upset you, but who says this Clutch means this HAS to be a 1300cc Motor ? One could have change the whole Basket/Hub/Cover Arrangement ? Because .. the 1200 cc Cover/six Spring Cover doesn't fit to the Diaphragm Style Clutch Assembly. -
What gas mileage do you get ?
Squeeze replied to greg_in_london's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Greg, these Numbers sound familiar to me. Topham will know them and I think you will have a good Outcome of your Call. But, please remember, these CV Carbs are a System, you just can't get in there and change Jets to smaller Sizes and expect to lower the Mileage. The Jet Needle has 5 or 6 Sections, the 5GLZ37 stands for 6 Sections in Diameters and Angles on the Needle. There are over 6000 different Needles. -
Hot weather riding, engine temp

I totally agree on Convection being the prime Factor on Heat Transfer. I've read three industrial Studies over the last Years. Two of them were Automotive. All stated even when Paint (any Color) is an Isolator and prevents a Portion of Heat Transfer, a black Paint lifts the Efficiency of the Radiator. The Engines ran cooler, in their test Arrangements up to 8K. In Cars on road Tests, they have had a 5K lower Coolant Temperature. The third Study was from the Hydraulics Industry, with basically the same Results, of Course with Hydraulic Fluids as Medium not water based Coolant. -

Sorry, i translated this wrong. Your Descriptions is axectly what i've meant to say. I'd mount a IR Device facing towards the Alumium Collector on the right Side of the Carbs, just there the Sensor and the Fan Switch is placed. This Way, you measure the hottest Coolant from front and rear Cylinders and also at the Place where the Bike's Devices mount and operate. You can check the Trigger Temperature Hysteresis of the Fan Switch as a Side Effect. The 'tropical Net' is not only a thicker Core, but also a Core which has smaller but a Lot more Ducts inside the Core. I had let a local Company make three of them for 1500cc Maxxes. This worked out very good. The Price was not cheap, but cheaper than a new Stock Radiator from Yammi. If you'd make the Calls, make sure that you get an black painted Radiator. Black has more cooling Capacity than any light Color. -

Greg, i'm sorry, but you're edited Postings didn't came up last night using the 'new Posts' Button. No, i haven't ordered Parts for the Venture Carbs, so, i don't know if Topham has Informations at Hand. The Vmax Floater Needles will fit your Carbs, don't worry about that. I don't know about the any Numbers on the Emulsion Tubes, i haven't noticed any. The Jets have Numbers on them, that's sure. But you could take all Informations out of the 1Gen Manual, there is a good Listing of Parts in use in the Specs Section of the Manual.
