2008 VentureRider Rally in Ontario needs your attention.
Squeeze replied to a topic in Watering Hole
I'm really sorry, but it think(hope) i'm excused. For me, that's really too far for riding.... Besides that, i sure have no Time for a Meeting dued to Work. -
I forgot to mention ... I've heard several Words from Germany, the new Vmax will be at the Dealers end of October/Beginning November this Year. You can order a Bike since mid April. Delivery Time is 1st Quarter 2009. So my Guess is, the Countdown is indeed for the new Max ...

One other Thing is, i've heard about a 'War' on the Backbone Providers 2 Years ago, regarding Money for transferring the Data over their Networks. I think the Problems have been solved, but maybe there's a little Rev Limiter hitting the Line between the Continents. Also, we shouldn't forget, even if nowadays they use Glass Fiber Wires, even the at the Speed of Light, it takes some Time. There are some Miles between US and Australia. Satellite Communications also need some Time.

Don, with the Ping Utility, you can pretty much only see the Response Times of the Server and TTL Rate. If they are slow, that's all you know. The Route Trace Tool shows much more Information, but i'm not sure if one can analyse the Informations provided. The Trace Tool is called 'tracert' under the Command Window. Refer to the System help for further Informations and Options.

About to paint my bike.

Brad, you're somehow right on the Needs for a adequate Airflow. The HVLP needs not so much Pressure but a Lot of Volume. If the Compressor is running on high Pressure, there a Lot of Air in the Tank. But triggering like a semi-automatic Machine Gun increases the Consumption of Air. -
Sounds like Fuel Issue to me, maybe the Fuel Pump isn't working or not working right. Reason for my Guess is, when the Days are hot, more fuel evaporates from the Carb Bowls and the Bowls are emptier than on cold Temperatures. The Pump should fill the Bowls, but if it isn't working or isn't working right, the Bowls will be filled only by Gravity on your Bike, but this takes longer than with the Pump working. If you switch the Key, you should hear a 'tack tack tack' Noise coming from somewhere. If my Theory is right, you should have similiar Problems when riding with full Throttle on a longer Distance. I'd check the Fuse first, then if the Fuel Pump gets 12 Volts on the Connector. Disclaimer: I'm coming from the Vmax/1Gen Side and i'm not that familiar with the 2Gens and therefore this could be wrong if i misunderstand how the 2Gens System should Function.

Man, 15 Days remaining .... i'm soooooo curious

Just cuurious

Sure it would work, technically spoken. Mechanical, you might see some Problems fitting the Collector. And you would need a complete System, because the Vmax Downpipes fit only to a Vmax Exhaust or a Vmax Aftermarket System. -
Solid Motor Mount???
Squeeze replied to FROG MAN's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I think a partial Replacement makes no Sense. A To establish a stiffer Connection and using the Motor to take Frame Movements, it needs at least the rear Mounts and the upper in front. If you want to reduce the Vibrations which are induced into the Frame, use the Delrin Mounts from John Furbur/BRM Sportsmax . Since the Handlebars on the 1Gen are mounted in Rubber, there should be not as much Vibrations induced as on a Vmax or an other stiff mounted Handle Bars. If you're willing to take the Job, do them all or leave it like it is. Oh, and replacing all with solid Motor Mounts hasen't hurt any Motor. I'm sure, i would have heard of such an Incident. -
You shouldn't have a Bow in the Line, which creates a Form of an Elbow. It should go pretty much in straight upward Direction. Use a Wire or a Wire Strap and pull the Lever fully to the Handlebar over Night. The Air will rise in the Line and get out when you release the Lever the next Morning. If you feel this didn't cut it, redo the Procedure. It doesn't work if you have only one or two Hours under Pressure, but it will work over night.

I used a Fein Multimaster Power Tool. It's only a Kind of vibrating Action. A 80mm Diameter Sawblade moves only 1.5 mm from end to end. With such a standard Blade, you even can hurt yourself. Makes a fine Egde without too much left Residue for sanding. I didn't even remove the Windshield from the Bike.

How old the Motor Oil ?

Need some insight
Squeeze replied to Squidley's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The Vmax has 35 mm longer Forkleg at the same Length of Center Axle and same Steering Bearings. Vmax is 860 mm and the Venture's are 825 mm long. I can assure you, taking off both Hands off the Handlebars at the Vmax at Speeds above 100 mph is no Adventure. But it's an Adventure with my Venture. -
Now, i'm back to standard Operation. DNS Lookup answers with the 67..... IP. Seems, Germany's Backbone's are updated now.

What gas mileage do you get ?
Squeeze replied to greg_in_london's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Greg, i didn't compare the Prices between Yamaha and Topham, because the Prices my Yammi Dealers quotes are far beyond of calling them pricey. And i get 10 Percent Discount over the Counter at Yammi. I called Topham five or six Times, even the (young) Girl one the Telephone allways did know what i'm talking about. When she's on the End of her Knowledge, she instantly redicts the Call to Mr. Topham. He's a very nice Guy and sure knows how to turn wrenches and tuning the Carbs. There are a Lot more Parts in their Stock, than listed in the Catalog. It may be worth a Call for you. I'm sure they're english spoken, at least Stephen Topham is. -
How did you wire it into the Bike ? Just drive the Ballast from the H4 Bulbs Wires ? How does the CMS respond ?

Solid Motor Mount???
Squeeze replied to FROG MAN's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You can purchase a Set from Yamaha out of Aluminium and Aluminium or Delrin from John Furbur at Blue Ridge Mountain Sportsmax. Or you can make your own on a Lathe. There's Sketch on the Internet, i could provide. Sizes are all the same. -
Clutch Upgrade For sale
Squeeze replied to talonsx2's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
There's not so much of a Miracle. The earlier 1Gen's have the 6 Springs Clutch Hub and Pressure Plate, all other's plus the Vmax have the Diaphragm Style Spring with a different Hub and Pressure Plate in stock Setup. The Friction Plates fit all Years, so are the steel Plates. But i agree on a Listing of several possible Upgrades -
You'd better use Bi-Xenon 'Bulb'. I have one in my Max. Was bit hard to install, because of the Size of the Bulb, i had to make some Room on the Back of the Head Light Housing. Other than this, i'm very satisfied with the Outcome. A Lot better Light and safer too. The lowest Light Color Option(3200K) is the best Lightcolor, very close to Daylight. Haven't got to install my second half of the Car Set in the Venture. I don't know if the draw of only 35 W would cause the CMS to respond.
