battery, or charge system
wrenchrob replied to Bobby's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I need to go to the dealer this Saturday to pick up the chrome piece between the windshield and fairing that I ordered last week. I will see how much there. He gives me a 10% discount. I like the idea where you mounted yours. Not sure about chrome or black yet though. Thanks again for the help. -

I like that idea. Thats small and simple. How are the RED GREEN lights at night? Distracting? -

I like the idea of adding a voltmeter to my 05 venture. I would like to add something small and visible from the riding position. Has anyone added one and ofso where did you get it and where and how did you mount it? Thnks Rob -
How about you conect a second gen v4 up to it.With 5 forward gears you will have all the speed ranges you need and with a reverse when you get tangled up into the lathe simply reverse out. With all the power of the second gen engine your lathe will cut anything.

I second that one. I am a service tech in a Ford stealership and find plugs (other than copper) will last longer than u want to leave them in there. If you want to use the same plugs for next forever at least remove them every couple of years and recoat them with antisieze and reinstall to prevent siezing into the alluminum heads.

This winter hasbeen great. Very little snow and when it does snow it melts the next day or so. I sold my snowmobile yesterday on a nice sunny day. The guy drove from Windsor (about 3 hours each way) and was excited about buing it. I guess it will look good in his garage too.lol

Venture handle bars to RSTD handle bars the easy way
wrenchrob replied to Bubber's topic in Watering Hole
I instlled bars off ofa Vstar 1100 (they are wider) and also installed the 1 1/2 risers. I had no problems with cables or wiring at all. I did have to relocate the pilot hole in the bars for the control detent. That was no problem though just a simple cinter punch and drill a new hole.- 19 replies

WooHoo, I got one.
wrenchrob replied to Charlie01's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Congrats on your purchase. I use the 3m on cars and trucks at the Ford dealership I work at. It really does a good job of protecting the surface. It stays clear for years(does not yellow). It will come off with a little heat from a heat gun. it stands up well to rock chips. I would not hesitate to use it on your bike. -
I like that idea of wiring the battery tender through the 12V receptacle and it just so happens I have the bike apart reight now. Thanks for the good tip.

Strong Gas Smell
wrenchrob replied to cabreco's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Talking about BAD GAS SMELL I think the 2 cheeseburgers with the hot peppers and horseradish is starting to produce something similar to what your experiencing! -
Thanks for the compliment but I was only half right. Under certain conditions if you have a high flowing radiator and cooling system it can actually flow too fast to be cooled in the radiator. I have heard of this hapening in high RPM situations. In a fuel injected car before "chips" became popular and affordable one trick was to put a cooler thermostat in causing mor fuel and than combine that with more air flow and guess what........? MORE POWER and poor FUEL ECONOMY!
-
What are you trying to say?
-
Its best to leave your thermostat in. Engines are designed to operate at a certain temperature. Especially fuel injected vehicles. If they are running to cool they will be running in an enrichment mode (kind of like driving with the choke on) resulting in to rich of an air/fuel misture.

When you remove the fins you will see a rubber plug. Use a sprkplug and thread into the plug to pull it out. I just replaced all of mine. It cost me $28 for all four
