  1. Its not even a Valkyrie Interstate. It is most definitly a Venture! Nice machine.
  2. My sicerest apologies! That was me and the salesman from the Harley dealership taking a bike out for a test ride. The bike I was riding had a sticker on it tht read "Ride it like you stole it" and the saleman told me that the bike was really fast. :rotf: LOL.
  3. Yes it has been stated many times that these engines are bullet proof but they are not scatter proof. I don't think these trusty machines would make it much past 10K before they scattered pieces all over. :rotf:
  4. I hope that you don't mean that you literaly had $25K in your hand. On hand maybe; but in hand that is just crazy! Did you happen to be at a Harley dealership? They seem to push real hard to finance bikes through HD. Before I bought my RSTD I was looking at some Harleys and the interest rates were crazy high.
  5. Yes many dealers in my area do not allow test rides due to the liability. A lot of dealers are really struggling just to keep the doors open and therfor are unable or unwilling to shell out the large amount of cash associated with insurance for test rides. Sad but true.
  6. I would really like a set of stock pipes with the tips. Tell me how much you want for them. Send me a PM. Thanks!
  7. Stay away from the Chinese scooters. Do they even make a chinese scooter that wil do 50 MPH? Kymco, Vespa, Yamaha, and Honda all make excellent scooters.
  8. :rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf: Incredible how some individuals take things so personally. This is just a commercial and is in no way sugesting or promoting that automobile drivers should run over motorcyclist. I would be willing to bet that the percentage of motorcyclist that don't have cars is very minimal. Calm down everyone its just an animated commercial.
  9. First off let me just say that is a great motorcycle that will bring many miles of reliable and fun riding. HD's new product is really great and I think that they have nearly eliminated all mechanical issues with thier bikes. There is a reason that Yamaha hasn't messed with the Royal Stars. "If it ain't broke don't fix it". I personally think it is a huge benefit of ownership knowing that Yamaha hasn't changed much about my current 2009 RSTD since they were introduced in 1996. And before that they have been producing the same engine since around 1983. Proven reliability. Over and over and over............... Lastly one huge benefit to owning my RS is that it is not often that I pass someone on the road riding a Royal Star or a Venture for that matter. Almost everytime I ride I pass someone on thier HD.
  10. Yes. Yamaha V-star comes in 250,650, 900, and 1100 all air cooled. The 1300 is a water cooled engine. I have owned a 2005 1100 Vstar and it is great motorcycle. A friend of mine has an 07 that he bought new and has over 50,000 miles on it. He makes real good money and is single with no big bills to pay and a house that is paid off. My point is he could have just about any motorcycle that he wanted but he absolutely loves his V Star 1100. Having owned one I can tell you that you won't be dissapointed in the power department. Plenty of power and get-up and go. I have noticed the rear suspension sags when riding two up. Doesn't feel like a heavy bike. Seems to handle well. One last thing in 2007 the final drive ratio was different than all the other years. If your interested in the 1100 try and find a 2007 as it will reduce your rpm at highway speeds. I haven't rode a 900 but I would be very inclined to do so if I were to be looking at V Stars again. 900 is usually plenty of power and the 900's are fuel injected and belt driven. I have also owned A Kawasaki Vulcan 800 now replaced buy the 900cc fuel injected belt driven version. I would suggest that you look at these as well. Very nice bikes. Probably not as many accessories available for the Kawi though. P.S. In my neck of the country 1100 Vstar's are popular. You will be hard pressed to find one for less than $4000. They are usually priced at around $5000. The 650 Vstar's are more in the price range you are seeking. Hope this helps.
  11. The set of Frogg Toggs that is motorcycle specific are called the Road Toads. I have a pair and they are OK. Not the best but well worth the price for a set of gear that you carry on the bike just in case. One size larger is the best bet. Problem I had is they are not long enough. I am 6'3" tall though. Check out the whttp://www.froggtoggsraingear.com/RoadToads.shtmebsite.
  12. Nice bike. Hope you get many many safe and happy miles out of this sweet bike. I really like the way it looks without the trunk. Not real practical though. I am sure the wife wouldn't like it with out the plush arm rests either. Enjoy!
  13. Wow. Now that is one nice house. Look at the size of that garage! That would be so nice. I'll bet this place has a lovely bathrooms and a huge kitchen for the misses as well.

    RSV cover

I bought a cheap Trackside/Built brand from Cycle Gear on sale for $20.00. Comes with a 5 year guarantee. Seems to be doing the trick nicely. Has elasctic at the botom with a bungie cord and eylets to keep the cover from coming off in the wind. I got the XL size and it seems plenty big.
  15. Now only if all of the dealerships could get on board and treat the customers the way they should be treated. I would say that 75% of the time if not greater the bad taste people associate with the manufacturer should actually be dircted at the individual dealership.
  16. Do you think we should also stop joking around about 1st and 2nd generation Venturers?
  17. If you like the FJR you should also consider the Kawasaki Concours and the Honda ST1100/1300. All great bikes and all have similiar sites to this one that should be a great place to gather information and ask questions.
  18. Well how do I put this? No. No. and NO!!!!!! Don't do it. A little bit of blue smoke at start up isn't abnormal for an older bike with some miles on it. Bars leaks is not going to help with worn piston rings. Just leave it alone. Don't do anything.
  19. Glad to hear that this turned out to be something that isn't to serious. Hope the drugs work the magic and your back to as normal as is possible soon.
  20. trade your falling apart Harley in on a brand new Venture because...
  21. Hot and cold equals expansion and contraction. All engines start out cold and then get up to operating temperatures. A water cooled engines temperature variations are very minimal due to the thermastat radiator and constant cirulation of coolant. On extremely cold days it takes longer to reach "operating temperature" and on extremely hot days it takes very little time to reach "operating temperature". An air-oil cooled engine has a much larger variation in temperatures greatly impacted by the climate. On cold days they run cold and on hot days they run hot. Oil coolers do a great job to keep oil/air cooled engine from getting over heated. That is the primary reason why water cooled engines last longer than air/oil cooled engines. Hope that helps some.
  22. That is one flaky paint job. Simple yet elegant. Nice looking bike!
  23. I will pray for a speedy and full recovery.
  24. PICTURES! PLEASE! I really want to see these.
  25. I am to slow. You beat me to it. Lets see some pics of that awesome trike! Congrats!
