  1. There is a knob on the left side fairing for adjusting vertical, but I was wondering the same thing about the horizontal adjustment, Now I have to check out the right side tomorrow.
  2. Like what kind of bumps or pot holes are you hitting to bottom out on? Even with the shocks I replaced due to leaking, never bottomed out.
  3. It is definitly covered by warenty I am now on my third shock and all replaced by Yamaha
  4. Nothing, do your own work Really, I did do my own work.
  5. Well, I know he is closer to Greeville SC then, but there is a very good Dealer Sumter, SC, about 50 miles east of Columbia. Extreme Sports. This is were I take my warranty work to get done. http://www.extremesportsyamaha.com/
  6. I have never removed the fuel pump or this rollover valve. I just slide the rubber boot that holds the filter to the towards the fuel pump, remove the top hose, and filter drops below the bracket, and I pull the filter to the right side of the bike. Is this rollover valve something that should be replaced each time I replace the fuel filter?
  7. Eck, that just it, I do not remove any screw to the left of the fuel filter, only screw I remove holds the front cover at the top in place and this is front of the filter, with no loose nut, its welded to the frame/bracket. And I do not know what white plastic hose you are referring too. Next time I replace the filter or have the battery covers off I am going to be looking for the white plastic hose. :confused24::confused24: We are not going to Ft.Collins, moving into our new house at the end of the month, so we are taking vacation time for the move. We were both really looking forward to the trip too.
  8. I guess I am confused now. Why do you guys find the fuel filter hard to change? 1. Take the seat off 2. Remove battery cover (both sides). 3. Remove the plug wires from the cover in front of the filter. 4. Slide out the front cover to the right side of bike 5. Slide the boot holding the fuel filter to left side of bike 6. Remove hose from the top of filter 7. Filter will now drop below bracket and pull filter to the right side of bike 8. Remove bottom hose 9. reverse the process takes about 30 minutes. Yes, I do wish they would put the filter in a better location too. Also what nut is every one talking about when removing the fuel filter? The only thing I remove during this process is bolts with no nuts except for the ones welded to the frame.
  9. Where the cowlings meet at the bottom, is a grommet with a phillips head that locks in the two pieces together. You have to get on your back (or jack the bike up to see this. On the parts list, it is cowling 2, item 34 http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/parts/home.aspx
  10. My wife called to tell me about Tom, we are both very shocked by this. We are extremely sorry for your loss to your family. Just remember everyone on this site is there for you. May God be with you and your family.
  11. Dang, we were close to you yesterday, I know we were someplace in Tennessee riding US 74, 68 and a few others. :cool10: You ought to go over to the Alabama Maintenance day May 5 and have them sync your carbs.
  12. I just changed out my rear pads this week, the inside one was almost completely gone. These pads were put on last spring, about 15,000 miles. The fronts ones still look brand new, so I am like V7Goose, have new pads on the shelf for the front now.
  13. We leave our cell phones in the bags. Only look at them at the next gas stop. I guess I am old school, the cell phones are there for an emergency, not to do business or needless talk when on a bike. :)
  14. I put new ones once a year whether they need them or not. Like someone else said, they're cheap.
  15. Isn't that the way it is supposed to be, women taking care of their men?
  16. I put these pictures in Photobucket Thought maybe this would be a good place for everyone to put their pictures in one place for Allan http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/In%20Memory%20of%20Debbie%20Hildebrandt/
  17. Now that is a neat idea, especially for the ones that have an uphill driveway. Now is only that could be used as a jack also.
  18. I guess I will ask the obvious,. If you bought the RSTD and want to put a fairing on it, then why not by the Venture? Same engine, frame and better seats than the RSTD.
  19. I lost one going down the highway about 2 months ago, sheared off at the bend. Yamaha replaced mine under warrenty.
  20. Uhh, dumb question for the day. Where the heck is the vent on a 2nd gen located? My idea of a vent is something that lets air pass through. :confused24:
  21. 95% missed the turning the wheels ? Me just let it roll and finish the job. :rotf:
  22. Post the fix, Post the fix.
  23. I saw the 2730, but I thought it was way to bulky for a bike. Still have not bought any. Will wait until early next year, then the bugs should be worked out.
  24. I like XM, but then again I like the 60 and 70 and country and Elvis and all the comic stations and the old time radio shows. Plust Garmin is coming out with a GPS for motorcycles in October with MP3 and XM built in, one unit, one set of wires, FINALLY.
