  1. With all the weather here I really haven't had a chance to get a good look at how the right side mirror is installed on my 93. Got my new mirror, thanks to a fellow member, and it appears that the mirror is bolted from the inside of the fairing. My question, what is involved in getting to those bolts? Thanks DJ
  2. Don, This is a wonderful place to hang out, I am very glad I found it. Thank you very much. DJ
  3. Hmmmmmmm..........Mabey in Quantum Physics????? Problem Solved.... Another member to the rescue as always. Thanks, DJ
  4. From all appearances, the mirrors on 1st Gens are the same from 83-93. Is that correct? BTW, If anybody has a good right mirror, I'm in the market. Thanks DJ
  5. Better watch out Dave, Yer gonna catch up with me, and yes you will spoil her double. I have eleven on the ground and one in the hanger. Only girl so far is the oldest and she is 18 today. Gongrats and enjoy! DJ
  6. You are all very welcome, and thank you for your service I had one working for me on the flightline at Sheppard in 71-2. He also signed up as a C/O. A very hard worker. Serviced fire supression systems. Very likeable and dependable. We had a UH-1H caught fire during a fuel turnaround and AMN1st Bill Warden was the first man on the scene. Bill was burned quite badly, but he pretty much saved the fuel truck operator single handed. Lost the pilot and student though. I got out of the service before Bill was out of the hospital, but I know he was decorated as I was contacted about giving a statement for his citation. DJ
  7. I very much agree. DJ
  8. I always tip 20% for good to excellant service. No tip for medeocre or poor service. DJ
  9. There are and were many "Conciencious Objectors" that are were highly decorated Veterans from WWI, WWII, Korea and Viet-nam. In my time in the USAF (68-72) I met several. They served with honor as Medics, in the Chaplin Service, as mechanics clerks and cooks. They wore the uniform, but would not carry a weapon or take a life for reasons of religion or concience. Those C/Os should not and must not be confused with Cowardly actions of "Draft Dodgers" or "Deserters" If that is the position taken to honor those veterans, I am with them. If not, that's a different story. DJ
  10. Thanks for all your thoughts on this. I was really trying to get a fix without pulling the rear wheel again, but is sounds like probably not the best idea. Having read alot of the posts about Ride-On I was thinking about putting some in both tires as I now know what a low tire feels like at speed. I have to imagine that a flat or blowout would be real scary. Thanks, DJ
  11. As I mentioned awhile back, I recently had my carbs synched, rear drive serviced, head bearings serviced and adjusted and new Metz Commanders installed. I love how the Metz track and the twisties are a WHOLE lot more fun. The bike leans itself into the turns (or so it seems) and all of the wobble is gone. Low rpm power is much improved and the bike is very pleassurable at all speeds. A problem though. Reat tire has a slow leak. About 5lbs per week. When we pulled the tire off the rear, it was full of green Slime. What a mess. I have inspected the rear tire and found no nails etc. Ran soapy water all around tire and rim, and checked the valve stem. No apparent leaks. Because the PO had installed Slime, I am suspicious of a leaking rim. Anybody with experience with this sort of problem and any easy fixes short of wheel replacement? Will Ride-On work for this type of problem? DJ
  12. You betcha' Dave. One for my son and one for you, works great. Thanks, DJ:thumbsup2:
  13. Don, I'll take two. Money order in the mail today. DJ
  14. A quart of Red Taillight oil.... A set of muffler bearings.....
  15. For any of the fellers that wear black, check this out. http://www.newenough.com/closeouts/small_medium_jacket_blowout_sale/joe_rocket/comet_leather_textile_motorcycle_jacket.html I bought one a little over a year ago after I bought my scooter. Bought my lady one to match. Paid a little over $400 for both. A little warm when temps are over 80, but great this time of year through spring. DJ
  16. Great idea. Count me in!! DJ
  17. Good luck Dave, Looks perty good. Appears to be a standard. Don't see stereo, cb or Class. Great price if you can get it though. DJ
  18. I too took a 25 year sabatical and my prior experience was mostly bigger MX and Trials bikes. I picked up a 93 Venture, and while it was intimidating at first, after taking the MSF riding course and putting a couple thousand miles on her there is nothing like it. My observations to start 2-up is telling your passenger not to lean. Look over your shoulder in the direction of your turn, and be very centered and still while coming to a stop. After My wife and I were out a couple of times, she became very aware of the points mentioned and it is now very enjoyable for the both of us. Hope you enjoy your scoot as much as we enjoy ours. DJ:thumbsup2:
  19. I got a new set of Michelin Commanders for the 93 awhile back, and the stealer wanted over $200 to install-em even though I purchased the tires from them. (what a rip) Did a little nosing around and found a very experienced hobbiest that works on scoots to support his Big-Dog/Buell habbit. Got his name from a good friend with a Harley addiction. "Change my tires?" "Sure" says he. "While yer at it, how about adjusting steering head bearings, synching the carbs and servicing the rear drive?" "No problem" says he. About the same amount that the Stealer wanted to mount the tires. He actually pulled and inspected the head bearings packed and adjusted them along with the other mentioned service. Took it to him Saturday morning and he called me Sunday early afternoon saying it was done. WOW!! All I can say is I would'nt have believed there be this much difference. No low speed wobble. Tracks like she is on a rail, and almost leans herself into the curves. Has torque right out of the shoot, and idles like a new Lincoln. Can't wait to get her out and let her stretch her legs. Any locals need a refferal, PM me and I'll hook you up. DJ :thumbsup2:
  20. Snag one Mike. You'll be amazed how much attention you'll get. If you hook it up as per instructions, you'll find that low beam works normally and the modulator works on high beam so it's easy to turn off. Mine is adjusted so it quits working just before dusk. The only drawback is it somehow convinces the computer that high beam is out and lights up the warning on the dash when it is working. At first I thought I would try to figger out how to disable the warning, but after a little thinking and seeing how the sensor works (warning goes out at dusk) I think I like knowing when it is working or not. My 2cents. DJ BTW, I got the Kriss on special and love it.
  21. Greetings and welcome aboard!!, You'll be able to find out just---er everything you want to know about your scoot here. Q1. I have just finished wearing out a set of E-IIs on my 93. Ordered 2 sets from different dealers. Waited 2 months with nothing but excuses. Love the RWL look but I can't have any it seems. Finally settled on Michelin Commanders. having them installed Saturday. Will report back. Q2. I have been able to find Seafoam at nearly every auto parts store I have been to. Carquest, NAPA, Autozone and Pep-Boys all carry it. Good Luck, DJ
  22. Looks very familiar. Congrats:thumbsup2: You are gonna love it! DJ:clap2:
  23. What a great ride. I'm quite jealous. Haven't rode any of those roads on a scoot yet, but have been all through that country in a cage several times. What a beautiful place to see. Can get a little monotinous across Nevada to Fallon, but still quite wild and pretty. Congrats on a GREAT trip, and welcome home safe. DJ
  24. Three cheers, for Condor! HERE-HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
