  1. Thank you Brian, Your service was both needed and appreciated. Enjoy your new life, I hope it brings what you always wished for. DJ
  2. ...Folks around here are into are into side-arms and Gun Leather, but I ran into these folks at the gun show this weekend. Being somewhat of a afficiendo myself, I was very impressed with their products. I purchased one of their holsters and it is the highest riding, closest fitting holsters I have ever used. If you like Gun Leather, ya might want to give their sight a look http://www.mernickleholsters.com/ Kinda fun just to Browse DJ
  3. I really like them too. I feel very fortunate to be one of the lucky ones. (Thanks again Jack!!) They are really a sound of their own. That big V-4 makes a sound I could best describe as being very similar to a "Flat Head Ford" (think 53 Merc) with "Smitty" glasspacks. (if you're old enough to remember those). Nice and mellow at low Rs, but really bark when you get into the throttle. My advice, if you can find some...Get'em. You'll love'em DJ
  4. Here's a few of mine on my 93' from Condor's first buy, right after I got them installed. Love'em... soundin better all the time!! :thumbsup2:
  5. Here's a couple of me and "Big Blue":smile5:
  6. I'm not sure, but it sounds like you might be describing Oatman. Oatman is on Old Route 66, west of Kingman. A pretty neat old mining town with alot of history. To get there you head north of I-40 between Kingman and Needles Cal. at Golden Shores exit. Then north about 25 miles through the desert. Lots of burros, and a neat old hotel. The Oatman hotel is where Clark Gable and ......what's her name... (Garbo?) spent their honeymoon. Still open but OOOOLD. Great food and some stores for the tourists. I believe they have a website if ya want to check them out. DJ
  7. That got a littly busy twards the end!!! 13,588 for me
  8. You might want to check your battery cable connections. A dirty cable connection can cause the symptoms you describe. DJ
  9. If it is the Venture-Line backrest, the backrest is the same but the mounting brackets are different. The 83-85 have different mounting points. You may need to get a set of 86-93 brackets. Not sure of other brands. DJ
  10. I went from Amsoil to Yamalube last change. I immediatly noticed that the small leak I had on the left side quit and the engine seemed quieter. Clutch also better. Yamalube around here runs $30 per gallon. Next time will likley be Valv or Penz M/C 20-50. alot better price.
  11. adding more info Do you know what kind of paint was in the can ie: enamel, lacquer, urethane? If it was cheap enamel and you catch it soon enough, you might try a commercial wax and grease remover available at auto body supply stores.
  12. Thanks ya'll. Havin' fun with all the kids over for Sunday Supper. Out of 13, 11 are boys, rangeing from 18yrs to 5days. Quite a spread dont'cha think?
  13. Quite a trip there Pete, You been quite the "Ramblin' Man" of late. Checked the pix, Still scratchin' my head. Who is it?? Dan:confused24:
  14. May I introduce my 13th and likley last Grandchild. Born last Sunday. Mom and Paxton are doing great.
  15. Dave, Really intended to make that ride, but something came up (or out). Looks like you had a great time. Couldn't make it cause my oldest daughter gave me a new grandson yesterday morning. Cute little fart. Mabey next time. DJ
  16. That's great advice Jeremy, I believe I'll be checking every plug I can find soon. Dick I that's good to know. It appears that a good regemine of inspection, cleaning and sealing is a real good idea. DJ
  17. Thanks Dave, If I'm in town that weekend, I'd like the M&E idea. Might be leaving for Arizona 'bout then, but we'll pencil it in anyway just in case plans change. V-Star 950 HUH. Got the itch a little?? Got my eye on a 2000mm that may be coming down the pipe. We'll see. Need another scoot so I can take one down to Havasu. Hate missing the riding down there. We'll stay in touch. DJ
  18. Thanks Randy, George just sent me similar advice along with some more interesting information to check out. I'm glad things have worked out so well so far as I wasn't looking forward to waiting for a new stator and tieing up my scoot for the last of the riding season. I may just solder the connection anyway as it seems to be a very vulnarable potential problem. Without this sight I'd still be scratchin' my head, and would have lost a couple weeks of riding. Ya'll are a great bunch of folks. Thanks again, DJ
  19. Went home and got out the multi-meter, pulled the side cover and located the stator plug, which was obviously discolored on one of the connections. Started the scoot and set the idle with the choke at 2000rpm. Checked the bike side of the plug. #1 (top center) connection 1.8volts, #2 6.9volts and #3 7.1volts. Pulled the plug apart and found burnt connection on #1. Sprayed contact cleaner on both plugs and carved away what damaged material I could from connection#1. Dried out plug and put on some die-grease and reassembled. Restarted scoot and checked again from bike side of the harness. All three circuits were showing constant 6.9 to 7.2 volts. Checked at battery, system charging at 13.8volts. Meter on the bike working as before incident. I changed out the battery a couple of weeks ago as the light came on, and found 2 cells very low. From experience, I know that you can't depend on a battery that has gone dry, It was three years old and so replaced. Old battery proved to have 1 dead cell and one week cell. I believe this caused the stator to try to work too hard causing the plug to overheat and break the connection on #1. System seems to be working OK at this point. Mabey a temp fix. Will keep an eye on it and let ya'll know. Happy for now, Thanks for the support George
  20. I think my stator is going or gone. New battery, and seems to stay charged, but volt meter is showing max 12 volts droping to 10 ideling at a stop with brake held. Meter shows what seems to be a full sweep from idle to 3000rpm, but shows about 2volts lower than it used to be. Any thoughts?? Also, Who has installed Buckeye's High Output stator and what if any differences have you had to deal with? Thanks, DJ P.S. Just figgered out how to attach a photo, if anybody cares.
  21. My 93 had the E-IIs on it when I got it, and finished wearing them out. Had no issues with them and liked the looks so ordered a new set. After 2 months of excuses on how come they could not get them, I found a set of Miclelin Commanders and had them installed. I really liked the improved handling and still do. I would recomment them without pause. DJ
  22. We were southbound on I-15 just north of Fillmore, Utah about 07:15 last Friday. Saw a northbound Blonde 1Gen MKI. Curious if it was anyone from the group. DJ
  23. That is one gourgious scoot. I had the privilage of riding behind it a couple of weeks ago. He didn't mention his Bubs. NICE soundin' too.. DJ
  24. Ya that is a pair. The Macs are a good deal. You'll Like'em. DJ
  25. I inatalled the Macs that Jack (Condor) got for the bunch of us. I love the look, and the deep throaty sound is great. They will "Bark" if ya roll on and let her rip. Son says they give the scoot "Attitude". DJ. P.S. go to my photos to get a good look at'em. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=769
