I got life!!

No I got to third, worried about hurting the engine. I did just get home from a short ride, only about 15 miles. Cant use 5th in 55 mph zone, hard to keep it under 60 in 4th. Need to get some air in the suspension. Also have to get rid of the junk lights the PO added. When I turned them on I watched the amp gauge drop to 12 instantly. Temp ran just over half way the entire time, oil light on the computer screen thing comes on when I hit a bump then goes off when I hit the next bump. Yep a short I got to fix. Or a bad sending unit. Overall she did great. Love the power, handling nontypical of a touring bike, and did I mention quick. Shaun -
Awesome. Sounds like you are having an excellent month. Congrats, Grampa. LOL. Shaun

Got the leak fixed, installation oops. Took a test drive, WOW this thing has some power. I hit 80 in less than a block!! Makes my Silverwing feel like a moped. Looking forward to a nice looooooong ride on her. Shaun:cool10::cool10: -

Well decided that hearing it run in the garage was not enough. I tried to take it for a run around the block. No go. It went about a hundred feet and died. Will restart but only under full choke, cant give it any throttle. Gas also pours out the overflows. I have an entire can of sea-foam in it now. Will see how that works. More to come, Shaun -
Thirdbike got me a set of carbs. I also learned that these are WAY harder to put on than take off. Two hours of disagreeing with them I had them on. A half hour later she was running. Just let it idle for about 2 minutes but that was all I needed. This sit and everyone here are great. Thank you all. Shaun

Polyethylene is a plastic that will hold up to some chemicals, along with some Polystyrene's. ABS however will not as the chemical makeup of it allows other chemicals, and time, to deteriorate it. They like to use ABS for a lot of body work as it is strong, machinable and last a good length of time. Just some info, Shaun

Good exhaust flow, can only hold my hand over the exhaust for a couple seconds before pressure blows it off. Switched the coil wires around, no difference there. Wondering, thinking that when the engine was put in they may have put the distributor in a tooth off throwing out the base timing. No matter what my nephew loves this truck so I have to fix it. Also he says he only get around 17 mpg out of it, to me that is way low. Shaun

I can remember my Grand dad and dad using that stuff. The old Studebaker of my gramps always looked clean and dry, even during a thunderstorm. If you find it let me know, the powdered carnuba wax is just not the same. It is close but not the same. Shaun

The forth digit is an N. On another note, I had to turn the distributor to the max to get the timing in. Shaun

Bad day. Just not much to say other than I feel for you. Prayers go out to his family. Shaun

The 8th digit is an I, it has a Z24I engine in it, I think that because that is what is on the valve cover. The "donor truck was also an 86 nissan, just had a really bad body on it.

I can believe it. I wondered about that with the venture 1st gen. Gary set me strait on them but I can see how they would restrict the airflow. Shaun

Sorry bout that, 4 cyl, 2.2 5 speed manual trans

My nephew bought an 86 Nissan pickup. Starts right up and drives good. The problem is it has NO power. when you punch it it just falls on its face. I changed the plugs, wires, rotor cap, distributor cap, air filter, fuel filter, sea foamed it, and reset the timing. Now the lady he got it from said that she had just put this engine in, also said this engine had a ton of power in the donor truck and when her mechanic put it in this truck it had none. Any ideas? This thing will not even get to 60 mph. Shaun

I have a teen that uses a reel mower, no gas , no electric. As far as the north Japanese I do not think they are worried about mowing right now. Shaun

So after years of custom crash dents and collecting rust it looks almost new again. Now you have to use it for another twenty years. Nice looking scoot there. Shaun

I usually switch to reserve about 200 miles. I can go about 30 miles on reserve, then I walk. Been there, it bites. Shaun
