  1. That is normally what I would do except I replaced the battery right before the rectifier. I do have a tender on it and will see what happens when I get the new solenoid. Shaun
  2. My "other" bike is a 1981 Honda Silverwing 500. I put a ton of miles on it every year, and for 5 years have not had a problem. Well now I am having a problem that I am unsure how to fix, or diagnose. Until tonight I have not had any problems with it starting. Now tonight I picked up my wife from work with it and when she got on I hit the button and the lights went out like normal but nothing else. I had to jump the solenoid to get it to start. After that I noticed that the lights seem to get brighter and dimmer, the turn signals work for a minute then just stay on and at the gas station I had to push start it. I do have a new solenoid ordered, but is that the whole problem or just the tip of the iceberg? My wife thinks I am going to retire it once the Venture is up and going. That is not going to happen. I need to figure this out. Everything I checked with my meter has a voltage range from 11.0 volts to 15.1 volts. Right off the alternator it sits constant at 15 volts (ac here). Any help would be appreciated. And I replaced the rectifier about a month ago, the old one just quit. That was obvious as I lost power everywhere. May still be a problem with the new one just wanted to get all info out. Shaun
  3. If you do not feed the pigmies will they go back to Bomer?
  4. I need the pieces that go below the fairing and the chin piece that goes below the radiator. If anyone has these please let me know. Thank you, Shaun
  5. WOW i know exactly what you are talking about there. This place is awesome. No other way to put it. Great people, great knowledge and friendly atmosphere. I am a member of a couple sites for my salt water tanks and one of them I have been suspended for "advertising items I am not selling" when all I did was brag about someone else s great product or service. Yep we have it made here. I ,for one, do not plan on joining any other motorcycle sites. Once you get a taste of a site like this nothing else compares. Shaun
  6. Great news. Glad things are going good. Keep us posted. Shaun
  7. Nice work. Cant wait to see more. Just one question, are those little red lights really that bright? Cause they would drive me crazy, but that may just be me. Shaun
  8. Yep that is sick. You would think that he would find better, legal, and private means of satisfying his urges. But then again if his head is that far gone.....
  9. Yesterday was a great day for a ride. Now we let mother nature get these storms out of her system this week and go again next weekend. Shaun
  10. Bike looks good. Dont you sit a little lower on a wing? Just wondering. And if you just have to have a tapedeck I still have my old sony walkman. Looking forward to hearing of your travels. Shaun
  11. Thank You. Aint doing much today. Just going to watch the race, enjoy a BBQ and relax. Hoped to get a ride in as well but mother nature has changed my mind. Shaun
  12. Holly cow that was funny. Even better when I showed my teen and he responded at first with, HUH?
  13. Loved it. The classic race cars, the historic tracks, and awesome scenery. Just hard to beat. Shaun
  14. A miss with the choke on could just be needing a tune up. The CLASS being bad could get into some time and a bit of money, but I do not know if I would walk away just yet. I may explain to the dealer that it will take a bit of money and work to get the CLASS going again and talk him down on the price a bit. There are a tone of boneheads parting out Ventures and selling the parts on EBAY. Shaun
  15. Not sure where you got a quote for progressive springs but they are cheaper than your stock replacements. I think they are about $90 per pair shipped to your door, but double check with skydoc on that. He has them for sale. Best of luck and enjoy the ride. Shaun
  16. Yep there is a BIG learning curve with these. I had a Harley for about three months. Got maybe 2 weeks of riding and the rest of the time working on it. Sold it and swore to never own one again. May have just gotten a bad one, But I really enjoy the touring bikes. This venture fit the bill for what I wanted perfectly. Looking forward to many miles of fun with her, maybe I will take my wife along too. Shaun
  17. That was pretty cool. Looks like she was having fun. Shaun
  18. Prayers going out. And congrats on the new one there. Shaun
  19. Now that is cool.
  20. Definitely. I cant say enough for whoever sent me the number. Years of looking have come to an end due the help of someone I dont even know. Not many that will help out like that anymore. I am beside myself. Whoever it is, Thank You Sooooo much. Shaun
  21. Yep I am sure of it. I am just spooked of taking on a job like that, never done it before. Shaun
  22. I posted a while back that I needed a favor of someone living around Bend Oregon. Well I had someone that responded via text. Was willing to help out. Then I got a text from someone else that contained a phone number. The sending number was blocked so I have no idea who it was from. The phone number has led to me finding my father after a 23 year absence. Whoever sent that text, you are an GREAT PERSON!!!! I owe you a debt that I can never repay. I a not even sure how you knew what I needed. Shaun
  23. My bike leans pretty good when on the side stand. When getting it on the center stand that is a nightmare. I have had a couple buddies come over and none of us had an easy time of it. Maybe each one is just a bit different.
  24. Never would have known about it if it had not been for Gary (Dingy) telling me. I owe him an ice cream. Shaun
  25. http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/uu264/reddog170/DSCF6472.jpg Not a good pic but about the best I can get. I did also find another number that had been stamped in ,not from the factory. Does anyone know if it means anything to have the numbers 4E84 hand stamped in? Shaun
