Took a break from everything today, kinda. Got my Silverwing out and had some fun. Put 230 miles on her and used 4 gallons of gas. What a blast. Hooked up with some other riders out just cruising around for a while and overall had a good day. Also got to check my brakes out real good when a truck pulled out in front of me, but kinda predicted it so I was ready. All in all it was a great day.I am certian that if it had been the Venture it would have been a longer ride though. Just had to share. Shaun

You are pinching a nerve in you lumbar region. You may have a disk problem. This will only get worse. GO SEE A DOCTOR ASAP!!!! The longer you wait the worse it will get. It could even effect you ability to stand or walk. Shaun

You may be better off getting a new tank. If you work at it you can get the dent out but from what the pics look like it is a nasty little dent. Nice deal though. Shaun

Loss of half my engine
Reddog170 replied to Darkhorse911's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Sounds like a pick up or a coil bit the dust. I would say check the ignition from start to finish. Shaun -
Wife is signing me up right now.

We all make mistakes. We all have that embarising moment that we do not always share. Well time to get them out. For me my embarising oops was after fueling up my bike I steped in to pay. I got to chatting with a friend that was in the store and forgot all about what I was doing. I left the store and took off. About a half hour later my wife got ahold of me and asked if I had forgot to do anything. Of course I said nope, all good. She started to laugh and totaly puzzled I asked what was so funny. She then told me I left the store and took off without paying for my gas!! Lukily we are friends with the store manager. Shaun

Good for you. The biggest problem is that unless they crash they do not get much of anything done to them. That driver will probably get chewed out and told not to do it again but you chewing out might stay with him for a bit. Every year the local bike club does a memorial ride for riders killed in trafic accidents, and every year the list gets longer. Quite depressing. We all know riders that have been involved in an accident due to a motorist not paying attention or just being dumb. My ride for a chewout was chasing down a cop. He pulled out from a drive and I had to swerve into the other lane to miss him. Good thing there were no oncoming cars. Just proves that you cant trust ANYONE on four wheels. Shaun

Dude that sucks. I would go out of my mind if this happened to me. You will definetly be in me and my families prayers and thoughts. I will also post this on FB as well. Shaun

Well I have a friend that can get me end lots of fiberglass, just have to wait until enough is available, for next to nothing. I am also a short drive from several manufactures that always have leftover steel for scrap price. I will make the mold from foam then seal it so the resin will not attach to it. Then will do about six layers alternating the weave pattern of glass and then remove the foam. The next step will be the hardest. I have to trim the excess glass away but will need to ensure proper fit. The frame will be a cakewalk. I am doing something different with the tongue though. I will be putting in a bearing to allow the tongue to spin allowing the bike to lean without chance of binding the trailer hitch. The lights will be LED ti save battery. And with drivers that wont pay attention with there four wheel vehicles I may have to add a defense system, LOL. Shaun

Well the reason I went for this one is that a couple years ago when working some long shifts my car quit at work and a friend of mine loaned me his 89 Venture for the weekend. Ever sense then I have wanted one. Now that I have one my mind is racing with the possibilities, longer rides, more power to allow me to pull a trailer, more comfortable seat, ect... Yep is does only have 47k miles. Has been sitting for a couple years, the chicken poop stinks to remove, it turns into this white goo when washing it off. My nephew did a GREAT job cleaning the windshield for me, still has a few minor scratches but is nice and clear again. Shaun

Well I am thinking about building a trailer for my bike. I am thinking about doing a steel frame with a fiberglass shell. Now I know that there are plenty of people here that have pulled trailers and what are your thoughts? Anything a bike trailer needs? Anything to watch out for. I have experience with fiberglass and the know-how to make the mold and all so there are no worries there. I also have decent welding skills. I have made boat trailers before so I know how to keep it square so it will track strait. I have a source that I can get all the materials for around $250. Should I try it or am I better off buying one? Shaun

Problem pulling or holding clutch lever?
Reddog170 replied to BigBoyinMS's topic in General Tech Talk
Older riders huh.. I am 35, guess I got some growin' to do yet. But my seventeen year old has been eying my Venture. I do like the clutch idea though. On my other bike it has a cable pull clutch that after a bit of running around town it is a little stiff. Do not think they make one of those gadgets for it though. Shaun -
I have a 1981 Silverwing. Was my primary bike but now that I have my Venture it will be my "short trip" bike.
