Velcro straps work great for holding hand levers in and the pedal just need the right position siting on the ground. Stretch out your leg pump, and hold the pedal the pop the bleeder. Shaun -
Welcome. This place has already saved me spending money I did not need to. This is a great bunch of people here. If you are a little off your rocker you will stand out, I have not been here long enough to say for everyone, but my rocker is in the other room and I was off it from the start. Shaun

Well my wife will tell you that I am a cheap old coot. I just say if I can get it done old school for just the cost of a little time and brake fluid then why do I want to go and spend 2 hours running to the store, $50 on a tool I may or may not use again and have to listen to her tell me what I did not get done today? LOL. I like to get my hands dirty and the more I have to do manually the more I will remember about how it has to be done. Shaun -

Yep. Planning on doing that tomorrow. Want to give any trapped little air bubbles a chance to gather at the metering block the allow them to leave. Shaun -
Never do hold up. I hit one deer slide a miserable 100 yards and bounce around a bit on a simple concrete highway and my new helmet was shot. Must have been a crapy helmet. Shaun

Should help drive the prices up! They are in sad shape right now. The other thing is that I wonder how it will effect the world economy as a result. Shaun

Well I got into the brakes again. Now that I know how to bleed the left front out. I started by getting the resivor open. This I thought was going to be a pain but it popped right loose and was not bad at all. After topping off the fluid I started to bleed it out. I did it old school but still cheated. I made a check valve that would allow the air to exit but not re-enter. After 2 cups of coffee and 45 minutes of pumping the pedal up and down I had all the air out and good clean new fluid throughout the system. I want to thank you all for informing me how the brakes were set up and how to bleed them out. Shaun

Nice thread. I will be running synthetic in my 83 when I get it on the road. This just saved me from starting my own thread. I used to run Mobil synthetic in my race car, never once had an issue.

Had it, got over it, do NOT want it back. Hope you feel better soon. Shaun

A friend of mine told me about a mechanic working out of his home garage that I would never go to. My friend bout his 91 goldwing brand new. It now has close to 100,000 miles on it and he said he noticed the speedometer acting weird. Well he had heard of this guy working on bikes and decided to save a few bucks and have him do the work. After he had the bike for less than a day he called to say that a gear needed replaced and he had to order. Well my friend was OK with that. After another week with no news he decided to go to his place and see what was happening with his bike. Well it was snowing/sleeting when he got there. The guy was nowhere to be found and his goldwing was leaned up against the back of his garage with the keys in the ignition. This bike has been extremely well cared for and my friend was flat PO'ed. Three days later he got ahold of him and he tried to say that he did not know that it was not covered or about the keys in it. Well AJ's bike repair in Columbus Junction IA will not be seeing anything from me or my friends. So if you need some work on your bike, do not take it there. And he never did repair the speedometer. Brake Help

Just have not had a chance yet. Family down this weekend and after they left had to try to get everything back in order. Have the week off will get some more done. Also have a friends bike here that needs a drivers seat backrest modified and put on, the front brake fixed and a tune up. So I seem to have gotten busy. Will get to it soon though. Shaun -
Last summer on 34 west of Mt Pleasant Ia a full size mattress blew out of a pick up and killed a guy on a bike. The pick up drive got a ticket for unsecured load and that was it. Like I said before, we need Mad Max defense on our bikes anymore. Shaun

Well at least you can say your bike has been washed.Shaun

Well I will say this; A few yeas ago they did something like this around here. They stopped ALL vehicles and found some nasty things. Most of the bikers were 100% legal, a small percent had some tickets. Around here only about 75% of four wheel drivers were legal, a good amount of the remaining 25% had suspended licenses, or no insurance. I think that random stops are a great idea, just stop ALL vehicles. To single one type of private vehicle is not right, in my opinion. Shaun

Sounds like a good time. It started snowing again here so it is going to be a few days before I can ride, but sure am glad others can still get out and ride. Shaun

Brake Help
Reddog170 replied to Reddog170's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thank You very much. I did not know the rear brake operated the left front as well. This afternoon me and my nephew will try to bleed it out again, using the right master to do it this time. Never had a bike with brakes like this before. At least I learned something new today. Shaun -
Got any pics of the new ride?

Well I have a little problem. I was bleeding out the front brakes and got one side to bleed out nice then moved to the other side. Well I cannot get it to bleed out. I get nothing from it when I squeeze the lever. Is there an easy way to fix this or should I replace the line. I will NOT ride without a front brake, four wheel boneheads make that WAY to dangerous. Not looking for an ultimate powerhouse. Just looking forward to being able to pull a trailer or just some real get up and go.
