  1. Well I have spent most of the night working on the old bike. I have repaired wires that have been mouse chewed, lubed the speedo cable, flushed the coolant system, have the radiator ready for the shop to pressure test it and make any repairs it may need, have searched for any signs of leaks, pulled the tci out and cleaned it have it ready to reinstall above the battery/air-box. All the connectors have been separated and cleaned then greased with dialectic grease and reassembled. I do not know if I am missing anything or not, actually sure I am, but this was superposed to be a quick fix bike. Like that ever happens. If anyone can think of other common areas that I need to check out before I reassemble thoughts and ideas would be welcome. I will also say that the $12 I spend for this sight has been the best money spent to date. Thank You, Shaun
  2. Very nice. That is some good work. Looks great. Shaun
  3. Yep it would have a carb. Where the fuel line screws into the carb you want to take that off then take the larger bolt like plug out then remove the filter and just to get it home put it back together without the filter. Should get it home at least. Shaun
  4. Wife is getting a little bugged at this project now. She about flipped when she got home and saw the fairing off the bike. So spending any more money is something I am not going to even mention to her, I like my comfy bed. Shaun
  5. Thank You Gary. I think I will just get the plastic throttle lock cruise. I also think I will say with the accessories that I have. I have repaired the mouse chewed wires and gotten rid of all the extra wires leftover in there. I am cleaning up things and should be getting her done hopefully in the next couple weeks. Shaun
  6. I got into the fairing because it was the only way to get to the ummmmm ever so wonderful wiring of the PO. I will have to adjust my sig and add the hammed and screwdriver. Shaun
  7. Ok well when I went to do some things to my bike I found some questionable wiring. I have now split the fairing, removed a TON of PO added unused wire and am cleaning things up. Is there anything else I want to pay special atention to or change while I have things apart? I am also considering replacing the right side of the fairing as when I got it apart I found most tabs broken off, a crack on the bottom, another crack that looks to have been super glued together. I am also considering adding some stuff that this bike does not have, like a cruise control. Thank You all for the info, Shaun
  8. Great little cars. The only thing I may warn you to avoid are the ones that have been half arsed modified by someone who just wanted it to sound and look good. Shaun
  9. Happy birthday!! Dont overdo it now, having a hangover at church is not nice. Shaun
  10. Will look into that, I do know a good radiator shop. May go ahead and replace the hoses as well. Thank you for the info. Shaun
  11. Thank You Bongo. Went right out and checked it out. Problem, that is where my mystery switch is located. Decided to replace the switch with my power port. The switch it wired to my fan, but when turned on the fan does not run. There are some more wires running in and out of stuff but no clue what they all are. They are not factory. Someone has hacked the wiring on this bike and now it is a mess. Will be breaking it all down over the weekend to see where the wires go, and why they are there. Shaun
  12. That is about the best I have seen. That is a wonderful, loving woman. Excellent story. Shaun
  13. Ok well I ran into a SWEET deal on some close-out stuff at the HD dealer. I have picked up a safety chrome tip for the front fender, some neat lighted fork covers and a seat-pad that measures out to be the right height and width but about 1 inch long. Snagged all of this for 65 bucks!!! I also have decided to install an axillary power port, but have no idea where to put it, any ideas? Well that is about it for now. Course you know my wife thought that this was going to be a get it up and running and go, well guess not.LOL. Shaun
  14. Cant forget my 7 year olds first bike. He took to this like a fish to water. He was jumping within an hour of getting on it. http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/uu264/reddog170/DSCF6435.jpg
  15. I have looked through the picture gallery and found no threads of pictures of our members. Well here is one and I will start it out. http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/uu264/reddog170/DSCF6089.jpg First the boss with the clock in hand http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/uu264/reddog170/DSCF6450.jpg
  16. Sweet ride. My nephew will be jealous.
  17. I liked them when I was racing, get better stats with them. Did not think that anyone would leave one hooked up when they sold the car for street use though. Shaun
  18. Wonder what Gary could do with a 1300 yamaha engine to compete with this....
  19. I have a tomtom and kinda like it but even after doing updates and updating the maps some of my routs, according to my gps, still go strait through a cornfield.
  20. No V, just a plain chrome tip.
  21. Front. There is a catch, it is almost $40
  22. Well I stopped by HD in burlington today looking at new boots. AS I looked around I noticed that they have chrome tips for fenders. I measured a couple and then my fender when I got home and they have a plain chrome fender tip that will fir first gen ventures. Just thought I would share. Shaun
  23. If I remember correctly they have a pressed in valve guides. As it wears the guide ovals the the valve hole and allows oil to pass. This usually ends up requiring a new head unless you can find an EXCELLENT machine shop that can press out the old guides, without cracking the head, and press in new ones. If you manage to do that then you can also look forward to buying new valves. I would say you are better off replacing the head altogether, will save you in the end. Your other option is a new engine or car. Shaun
  24. Great pictures!! It does look like in the pictures that she has more hair than you,
  25. As far as I know the bluetooth headsets and devices will not work with the RSV sound systems. I may be wrong but I though I read that when I got my GPS and had some questions about it. Shaun
