  1. Great news. But still take it easy on the knees. Shaun
  2. From the pictures it looks like it will work out quite well. Will be following along to see how it goes. Shaun
  3. Great work, beautiful scooter. I also have enjoyed following along. Awesome job with all the pictures also. Shaun
  4. Thanks. I know how electronics can be addictive. Look at cell phones, never used to need or want one. Now you will turn around after a half hour driving to get it. I just wanted a simple unit to help out on long trips. Shaun
  5. Does anyone here have or use the Tom Tom gps units? I am looking at one that a friend of mine has. It works good but I am unfamiliar with them. He only wants $30 for it so I cant get burned to bad here. Shaun
  6. Just a quick tip, go to your doctor and give some blood that they can give you during and after the surgery. It in my mind is just safer that way. You will get your own blood back instead of someone else's that is "close" to yours. With the technology today this has become pretty standard and not a lot of complications. Take it easy and know that you will have the entire family of Venture Riders pulling for you. Shaun
  7. My 'wing is almost ready. Let me grab a new front tire and pack a bag. When are we leaving? Southern bound I hope, it is snowing here at the moment. But yes I would trust my 30 year old 81 silverwing in a heartbeat. Shaun
  8. Awesome ride and CONGRATS man. Job well done. Will have to share this with my teenager, a lesson in never giving up. Thank You for posting it, great read. Shaun
  9. Sounds like he had a good trip. Glad everything went well for him. Cold knees are uncomfortable, but when your hands get that cold it starts getting hard to drive the bike so good choice coming up with a way to keep his hands warm. Nice trick with the Benjamin also. Shaun
  10. Yep had the battery checked out. It tested low so they warrantied it and gave me a new one. The rectifier will be replaced as well as the solenoid and the wires have been repaired. Just waiting for the parts then I will have her running again. Shaun
  11. Put some in the gas and run it long enough to get it in the carbs then you can let it sit a couple days then run it out. That should clean them out. Shaun
  12. That is really neat. It is like they are siblings the way they play together. Shaun
  13. If this is the first time out of winter storage then you probably just have some goo in the carbs. Grab some sea foam and drive it like you stole it. Shaun
  14. I like that bag. Thank you for the input. When I started looking around I started getting flustered As there are so many. Shaun
  15. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Shaun
  16. When you get it figured out let me know. I can get the air pump to come on but nothing more than a backlight on the screen. Shaun
  17. Way off for my area. However in recent years several things have changed. A new bypass has opened, the big truck stop has closed down, a Wal-Mart super center has opened and the hospital has expanded and put in a heli-port. Shaun
  18. My daughter loves watching Ruf RUfman. Well on today's show the fetchers (contestants) had to go to Hartford (I think it was) and while they were there they got a ride from a guy driving a mid to late 80's Venture with a side-car. It was blue if that helps. Was it anyone here? Shaun
  19. You have our prayers and will be in our thoughts. Hope all goes well. Shaun
  20. I have been looking at the "tank" bags. So I was wondering what do people here use? IS there a way to make the magnetic mounted bags work on a Venture? Shaun
  21. I had an old Honda that made a squealing sound at higher speeds, turned out to be in the shaft drive. Do not know if that will help out here but it is a thought. Shaun
  22. Have you considered snow tires for your bike?
  23. Well I guess that I am mistaken then. I thought that they did have those pieces. Sorry bout that, Shaun
  24. Rectifier went bad due to a short I imagine. Found a wire that had chafed and was rubbing on the frame. I will also be taking my battery in to the parts store to get it checked. While I wait for a new rectifier and solenoid I am going through all the wiring to ensure it is all is good shape and replacing the glass tube fuses with a spade type fuse block. So some work to do but nothing to hard or time consuming. Thank You for your help. Shaun
  25. I like to have a few patches. I chose not to put the Circle of Pride patch on my jacket for this very reason. I can see people wanting to show there affiliation with there local motorcycle clubs but to get bent out of shape just because someone from another club is wearing there patches or colors in your area is beyond what I can understand. I thought that humans had evolved beyond a wild territorial animal. Shaun
