Ok I had been told that if a dealership had repaired second gear problems on an 83 to 85 that they put a center punch mark on the frame by the sticker under the rear brake pedal. Well mine has that punch mark. I called a friend at a yamaha dealership and he did some research and found that yamaha had indeed instructed there dealers to mark the frame in this manner. I will try to get a picture up. Mine is on the top portion of the sticker and the sticker is peeling somewhat away from the punch mark now. Shaun

Cheap collector alternative
Reddog170 replied to BrileyR's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Might effect the back-pressure and/or balance. This is just a possible. Course look at all the HD's that run around with nothing more than a couple pipes sticking out of the cylinders and no mufflers so d*** loud you have to show hand signals. Shaun -
More questions from Old Red
Reddog170 replied to Reddog170's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thanks guys. I am trying to stay busy doing the little things right now until I get money freed up to do other stuff, like carbs. I am also wondering if I should get into the rear end and do some service there as well, have no idea how long it has been sinse it has had anything done. The plugs in it right now were discontinued 3 years ago, the battery is almost 10 years old and the oil filter cover is leaking. I am starting to question weather I can get her up and going but my wife has not wavered. Thanks again, Shaun -
I hope I can make the trip. But my wife has oked 1 long trip this summer and I want to make it to the Cody Wy thing as well.

Well I am sure that you all will tire of my questions before long but I have a few more here for you. First The head light, sometimes the low beam works and sometimes it don't. Thought it was the start button but have gone through that with the help of Dingy's thread on it and still have the problem. I have power at the switch all the time(when not pressing the starter) but not all the time at the light. Second one here, it had a full tank of acient gas (paint thinner now) that I was able to get most siphoned out, but there is about 1/2 gallon that I just cant get to. Will a can of sea-foam put in with fresh gas be OK? Third, I have seen it posted to relocate the TCI to a more accessible spot for future reasons, however when I set it up above the battery the cover will not go on. Can I mount it in the fairing? Fourth, I found at Oriellies a 12 spot spade fuse box, my current one has 6 (I believe) Should I stay with a smaller one or can the 12 spot one work (hope so it is being discontinued and is only $10). I think that is about it for now. Thank You, Shaun

Air ride control help
Reddog170 replied to Reddog170's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Ok air ride control does NOT work. It lights up with the backlight but no numbers or anything shows up on the screen. Nothing happens when you push buttons. Will tear it apart and see if I can fix it. Shaun -
Well having never taken a Canadian motor test before I had trouble with the Km and signs that I had never seen before. I got 6 wrong. Shaun

On my 83 VR I have been going through each system and part. Well I have now gotten to the air ride control and have a weird problem. It lights up and appears to work with the key in the accessory position but not when the key is in the on position. Any ideas? Shaun

This is a bad accident. It could have been worse. I truly hope that none of the injuries are serious, but being as two were airlifted out it sounds as if they are. Me and my family will pray for the speedy recovery. Shaun

Motus MST Tourer Public Debut at Daytona
Reddog170 replied to Michael_Bishop's topic in Watering Hole
I have to say I ham not real impressed, yet. I know that these are prototypes but man they are LOUD! When , in the first video, he opened the throttle there was little fork raise hinting that there may not be as much power as it seems. Now I may just be getting picky but so far I will stick with what I have. I do hope they continue to develop there bikes and grow to a full manufacturing company. As for now though, still needs work.
