  1. If you want the old filters I'll mail them to you they only have 8000 miles on em. Nothing in there but white paper. That's why I wouldn't of believed the difference in performence. The stock filters look new, there clean and useable.
  2. Bought a new 2009 RSV in June of 09 off the showroom floor. It ran OK but felt no where near the power I had when I rode my 06 RSV. I took it in the summer of 2010 and asked the dealer about low power. They shimmed the carbs and I rode off and it still lacked the power I had in the 2006. I was gone away most last year with work and didn't ride much. This year while in an email conversation with a fellow VentureRider in Canada he suggested a set of K&N filters. I ordered a set and installed them this week I can't believe the difference! It's unbelievable a set of air filters will make it run stronger, I knew I had a carb problem but never dreamed the stock air filters were holding back that much air. I don't know if others will benefit from this simple upgrade but I couldn't be happier and highly recommend K&N filters. Thanks Randy
  3. Just made a purchase from Buckeye Performance on there 2nd gen. stator and they are not rewound or rebuilt there new. The 1st gen. are rebuilt and you need to send in your old one but the 2nd gen. are new and no core is needed.
  4. Hope your happy I tried that once and cried and complained for 14 month's till I had enough equity it my 2006 GL1800 with Nav. and Comfort to make a decent trade and at last I'm back on a 2009 RSV. I absolutely couldn't stand to be on the GL1800 period, what a mistake. Miliage sucked, it was by far the hottest machine I ever rode:scorched:, Honda still can't produce a seat you can sit in for more than 100 miles I took no trips on it more than one day away. Just never got comfortable, hope you do better on your's but I guess the good thing is they hold there value so if you ever decide on another RSV, maybe when Yamaha makes the 3rd gen. (a bike without a cassette player) you'll probably be able to make a good trade.
  5. In the summer of 2000 when my daughter graduated from H.S. we decided to take a road trip to California from Southern Illinois. 2 1/2 weeks, two route's, many stop's, visited many landmarks, and relative's and the memory still goes on and on. She went off to college and moved away like we figured she would and is now a professional with a great career started, we couldn't be prouder of her. It's always great to hear of a parent and child bonding in the years when children have many decisions and generally want to distance themselves from Mom and Dad. Keep up the great work for they are our future. Nuf Said
  6. I purchased a 2009 RSV in July new off the showroom floor and have a question about the CD changer, is it a standard feature in 09 or is it still an option? I read the article in Rider magazine and they mention the CD changer is standard for "09". Mine did not come with it. It was wired for it in the left saddlebag but the connection was taped to the side of the bag under the latch. I read the Additional Features section of Yamaha's sight and it states - Single-point audio control system for AM/FM radio, cassette, CD changer and intercom is MP3-compatible and headset-ready. Any help would be appreciated.
  7. Excellent choice I just bought a 09 July 9th and just clocked 3400 miles today. Buy one of the Harley #54630-03A or Progressive hand pumps for the suspension air adjustment. It's the easiest way to air up the suspension I know to date. Don't go over 7# in the front forks I think most riders leave the front at 0# no air at all I am one. If the rear wheel starts squeaking don't panic it's the fingers for the drive needing grease, a warranty issue or just raise it up and pull the rear wheel and grease it yourself takes less than an hour I had to do mine at 1000 miles. All the information is here in the Tech section. Just got back from North West Ar/South West Mo. three days of riding forests, rolling through great curves, and great scenery I can't wait to go back. Your already ahead of the game joining this great forum welcome aboard. Oh did I say I traded a 2006 GL1800 Honda for my Venture? The RSV is by far my favorite machine.
  8. Dealer is 100 miles away and I wanted to make sure it was done right so I wont have any problems. I'm headed to Branson Mo. next Wed. (300 miles from here) and I have the tools and the knowledge and would rather fix any problem myself if I can. If it were a major warranty repair I'd get to the dealer, but the minor problems I fix, the whole job was done in less than an hour.
  9. I rode 100 miles today and no noises, shifted fine, quite, just like a new one but ah yes it is a new one. Gee if only the factory or dealer would use a little more lube when the rear wheel is installed. I still think the RSV is one great ride and am glad for both my bike and this forum:banana:. Thanks everyone for your input keep up the great work.
  10. I purchased a New 2009 RSV and just got back from my first road trip (300 miles one way.) I now have 2000 miles on this bike in a month. When I was 40 miles from home I noticed a grinding/scrapping noise coming from my rear end, knowing about the infamous dry pins I didn't think anything of having to remove the rear wheel and lube the pins. When I got home I put it up on a jack, removed the rear wheel and checked the rear end lash, than I started it up with no rear wheel and shifted it through the gears to check out my tranny for problems just in case. I couldn't believe the noise coming from the trans in 5th gear, it sounded like it was flying apart. I didn't have any trouble shifting or keeping it in gear and the original noise was coming from my rear wheel. I lubed the pins and 4 were dry, lubed the teeth on the drive and reassembled it, torqued everything per spec's, than I took it for a test run and all's quite for now no noise's of any kind. Should I be concerned about my trans sound I heard with the wheel off in 5th?
  11. Received my Passing lamp set up today and there no instructions or parts breakdown. I think I might have the wrong bolt that mounts the lamp to the light bar both parts are factory Yamaha. The Lamps are #STR-4XY35-10-00 No bolts were supplied with the lights and the box was not opened before I received it. The bracket #STR-4XY35-40-00 was cut open in the middle where the hardware was and taped. Could anyone email or post a breakdown of the parts for these lights? Thanks
