Kenny, hope she gets well soon. She cooks too good for you to do without. I know shoulder surgery is painful and hope she heals soon. Lyle

I retire in 9 months 3 days. I will be 54 and a half. I will get 68% of my 3 highest years for a retirement and I am partially disabled from the military and get some $ from the VA which helps. If I live to 65 I will start getting a couple of hundred a month from the Bell system that I spent 10 years with before they all split up. I may even get some SS if I make it to 62.

As a police officer I have personally arrested around 700 DWIs in my carreer. I worked on a DWI Task Force for 3 years and in the 2nd year alone I made 300 DWI arrests. I arrested one guy for 6th offense and he refused all tests but he was convicted in trial on my testimony and got 23 years. The prosecutors final statement to the jury was, "If you let this guy go, the next headlights you see coming at you may be his". I also arrested a man and a woman for their 10th offenses. The guy was also in possession of crack cocaine. Do not know what happened to them, they were probably allowed to plead to lesser sentences since I didnt get subpoened to court. Louisiana has resisted changing DWI laws for many years but in the last couple have increased the sentences and lowered the BAC to .08g% which for us is a major step. Drinking here is part of our culture that goes along with our great food. It is hard to change but it slowly is. I am sorry for your loss. Lyle

While we were at Vogel(the day we rode the dragon) I met a 75 y/o man that had an experimental plane that he built. He took me to his hanger and showed it to me. It is a short takeoff and landing plane (STAL). He built it from a kit. We then went to his house where he has about 30/40 motorcycles of all kinds. Mostly enduro bikes that he rides in the desert. He lived in a big house on 35 acres. Guy was pretty cool for someone you just start talking to in a Wendys.

Maybe a loon laughing at a dollar as he passes it up. You would know just before I vacation there.

Hey man, don't tell them all that stuff you told me at Vogel, about wanting to go to New Orleans after Katrina and take care of all the riff raff. Just be up front, look at them in the eye and in a firm voice tell the truth. The times I have set on our employment board that is what we looked for the most. Even if you have had any bad things in your background they usually know about it if they did a good background check and a polygraph. Good luck man, we need good guys in the profession. Lyle

Since we rode together I know you remember that I am a cop also. You may be profiled as a biker (badguy) and stopped to be looked at, but as long as you have paperwork and no illegal substances you should be fine in most places. Just like in all professions there are good and bad but most of would treat you the same as we would anybody else passing through as long as you don't give us a reason to stop you. Follow most of the speed laws within a few miles and if you do get stopped respect goes a long way for most of us. I don't mean kissing up I just mean treat me as a man doing my job and not a jerk for doing it, when you are wrong and I am just enforcing it. The majority of us are no different than anyone else, and besides that I only have10 anda half months left. Be sure and call when coming through louisiana and we will get something good to eat. If I am at home we can put you up for the night in my fifth wheel in the driveway. Be safe. Lyle

Bubbajbi what about New Mexico. I was stationed in White Sands for 18 months. I am a city cop now.

The only place a job took me was straight to Viet Nam in the army. I now travel straight through the middle of LSU, coming and going to work, where I have to force myself to keep my eyes on the road and off the young ladies (my wife lets me look). It is about 9 miles to work.

Juggler you aint dont the Mississippi unless you come down to Louisiana and see the end of it and have some good cajun food. I know it a long ride from up there but you could float most of the .

Had my 05 RSV about 6 months, when I came to an intersection and was almost completely stopped. The guy behind me thought I took off and he hit mt at a slow speed. Knocked me and my wife off onto some grass and the bike over on top of us. Neither of us were hurt a lick as we had on leather but the bike had $5000 in damage. Farm bureau paid up (their insurance) with little or no trouble.

I have been to the real wall several times and seen the moving wall several times and they are very moving, no pun intended. The Korean wall in Washing is the nicest, I think but being a Nam vet the Viet Nam wall means the most to me. I also have seen the Police wall in Washington several times and it is the most meaningful of them all to me as I have several friends on it and it continues to grow every day as the scumbags in our society kill us. Two have died on my department in the last 14 months. I read about 2 killed yesterday, one of them a female attempting to help someone. Sorry I got off the subject but that is how I feel. Also there is a monument to draft dodgers in a little town of dope smokers in British Columbia, that my friend from BC told me about.

A couple years ago I had to put down 2. One of them was my retired drug dog who was with me 24 hrs a day until she was retired. The other a family friend for 14 years. A very hard year. I feel for you and will keep you in mind.
