  1. Happy Birthday Wayner! Have a great day!
  2. We could make fun of you, problem is, most of us have done it at least once.
  3. Hey Gents, My 2008 just started at 12,000 miles just as you describe. I'm going to experiment with oil types (Synthetic and Dino) and viscosities. I found mine worse when running 10w40. Achieved a slight improvement going back to 20w50. Both grades were Castrol m/c oil. Next step is to try a full synthetic. Paul
  4. Wow! Glad you had the hindsight to still be with us!
  5. That is what I am afraid of. I understand the rubber bumper should be resting on the fork leg.
  6. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=56600&stc=1&d=1305504455 I just purchased a 2008 RSV and judging by the angle of the lower wind deflectors, relative to the fork angle, I question whether or not I have the right passing lamp mount. Could it be that this mount is for an RSTD? Paul
  7. Please accept my condolences for your loss. Great tribute, I'm sure she was an awesome mom. Paul
  8. Happy Birthday Annie! Hope you have a great day!
  9. Keep up the good work!
  10. Got mine today! It was in the mailbox when I got home, no special trip to the post office! Thanks again Jack!
  11. Thanks Jack! I'll let you know when it arrives! Cheers, Paul
  12. That's a great fix! Thanks for posting it for us!
  13. Thanks guys, I really appreciate all the advice you have given me. I own an XJ1100 and an XS1100 so I'm used to heavier bikes. Ed, I took the experienced riders course in the fall and I learned a lot about how to manouver at low speed. I had hoped my new tires and maintenance work would improve the handling more than it did. I will replace the steering head bearings when I have the chance but in the mean time I'll pray for better weather so I can get more seat time! Thanks again everyone! Paul
  14. Thanks guys, I'll keep working at it! I did drop it once, i was stopped thankfully and only broke a highway peg mount!
  15. Ok Gurus, here's my dilemna; I bought an 86 Venture Royale late last summer. I love the bike, it's what I wanted. I didn't care much for the low speed handling but I new the tires where at the end of their life span and would be replacing them over the winter months along with some regular maintenance like changing the fork oil, regreasing the wheel bearings, regreasing the suspension links including adding grease fittings, adjusting the steering head bearings (they were to tight)and fixing the class system. I believe I did everything that I could based on searching posts on this forum. The bike handles much better but at very slow speeds (like approaching a full stop) the bike gets very unstable or feels tippy? The slightest lean either way to correct seems to overcorrect. Several times I felt like i was going to drop the bike. Is top heavy an issue with these bikes or did I miss something when I went over the bike this winter? I'm at the point where I'm considering selling it before I hurt myself or damage the bike. Thanks, Paul
  16. Should just be the driveshaft. You can separate the drive shaft from the pumpkin first or pull the driveshaft out as you remove the pumpkin from the swingarm.
  17. Not my cup of tea but definitely very cool. I'll bet those kids are pretty proud of their customizing skills.
  18. Hey Ryan, I just did this mod to my 86. Not hard to do at all! I used grease fittings I purchased at CTC. 5 bucks for an assortment of 8 (1/4 x 28 thread.)
