  1. Congratulations and good luck! For me it was the best thing I have ever done! The cravings go away. You will also find them getting less frequent, shorter lasting and easier handle as time goes on. Welcome to you next 40 years!
  2. That dipstick is used to measure the middle and final drive fluid level on XS1100 and XJ1100 bikes. I believe on the 1st gen Ventures, the final drive is filled to the bottom of the threaded portion of the fill port when the bike is sitting level on the main stand. (no dipstick required)
  3. It was only dropped..................once!!!
  4. Check the adjustment on your brake light switches and particularly your clutch switch. Try setting the cruise and gently tap each handle or lever, might narrow down where the problem is! HTH Paul
  5. You Lucky Bastard!!
  6. At $28,000 + per scam they only have to fool 4 people a year to make a good living out of it. Unfortunately there are people out there that just don't recognize these ads as scams.
  7. The bastards are everywhere!
  8. Ouch! 60 for a high here today but windy and rainy (good day to putter in the garage) Tomorrow's forecast is 50 for the high but sunny and no wind. Might just be the last ride for us this season. I'm hoping not! So what are the difference between the Royale and non Royale?
  9. I thought the only place where everything is inflated was in Texas? It's actually about a two hour drive from Ottawa. I'll have to find out whether my friend made contact with the owner or not. Cheers, Paul
  10. As with anything used for sale. Am I right in thinking it's not a Royale? Looks like aftermarket pipes too!
  11. Ya but it's blue! You know how slow blue is! Actually I was looking for a blue one when Yogi came along! I have a buddy who's looking at this one. Last I heard he and the owner were playing phone tag.
  12. A lot of snowmobilers use it in the machines! That is where I first started useing it!

  15. Wouldn't hurt to take a look at the contacts in the handle bar switch as well!
  16. I think you are on the right track in thinking bad ground or failing reserve lighting unit. Have you replaced the bulb just to see if it might be a faulty bulb. Even though it stays on high beam could have too little resistance for the system to see?
  17. I think I may give them a try. All I have ever had on my bikes are Bridgestone Spitfires so I don't know if there is better tires out there. The new set I put on my XS11F last year seem fine! The bike handles well but of course it's only a 600lb bike not an 800 lb one that carries a passenger most of the time.
  18. Hey Bobcat, I'm in the same boat. I'm looking at a new set of tires but am afraid to spend too little even though I'm on a tight budget. I like a good deal as much as the next guy, I just don't want to regret having not bought the expensive tires in the first place.
  19. As an old British plumber I worked with used to say " if you were born to be hung you will never die of pneumonia" so yes, it wasn't her time! Glad to hear she faired better than the bike! Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
  20. ........Bridgestone Tires? I'm looking at a set of spitfire 2's for my 1st Gen. That is what are on it now. It handles poorly but the rear tire is pretty much bald and the front is badly cupped.
