  1. didn't someone post a link to some pictures that were taken from last years? I'll try to find that link...
  2. No doubt you will get an answer to all of those questions, but you might want to check back later tonight. My bet is that everyone is out riding on this beautiful day (finally).
  3. I'm in New Castle, PA, which is about 10 miles from Youngstown, OH. They're saying we are going to get rain here the next couple days though, plus my son has a ballgame in the morning. Otherwise I might have taken you up on your offer. Maybe some other time.
  4. Very nice! Did you clean it up yourself? or find it that way? Maybe I can hire you to clean mine...
  5. ok, found it. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=19537
  6. I bought the Platinum Burners, but haven't had a chance yet to put them on yet. I think they will mount nicely on the brackets I got from Squid at last year's maintenance day. There was a thread about these, couldn't find it though, and some members mentioned about the outer ring vibrating loose. So it may be a good idea to use some loctite or something to keep it from falling off. No first gen jokes please...
  7. Just messin around on youtube and ran across this... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOUbPUOgtuM&feature=related]YouTube - Royal Star Venture Khrome Werks V2 Cont.[/ame] Sounds good...
  8. Not sure how much you could help in that situation but it reminds me of a time when I helped out a person with a "cloudy background" Last summer I was in my house when I heard what was some sort of wreck outside. When I went out onto the front porch I saw cars stopped on both sides of the road, a crotch rocket laying on it's side, a kid with a helmet walking around picking up plastic, and a girl crying hysterically in the middle of the street. At first I thought maybe she had hit the biker. I went to see if they needed an ambulance or any help, as it turns out, the kid had done a wheelie and just pulled it back to far and fell off the back of the bike. The girl was his girlfriend and was following him home, didn't hit him at all. He was trying to pick the bike up and get it off the road so traffic could get going again, but he couldn't lift it and was obviously shaken up. His jeans and jacket were tore up and his shoes were in the middle of the road. I told her to get his shoes, I picked up the bike and told him he could leave it in my driveway or garage until he could get a truck or trailor to get it home. We pushed the bike up my driveway, into my garage, which was very difficult because the wheel and forks were all bent up. I put the kickstand down, turned around and he was gone, running across my front yard, yelled "thanks, I can't get another dui", hopped into his girlfriends car and they took off. My wife came outside to ask me what happened. I didn't know his name, address, phone number, when he was coming back for it, nothing...I told my wife I think I may have just helped a drunk driver or inherited a stolen bike. Just then a patrol car drives down the road, looking for the accident that someone must have called in, but there wasn't anything to see anymore, no rider to talk to, only me with a wrecked bike in my garage and some plastic pieces in the street. The cop drove around the block a few times looking and I was starting to wonder what sort of trouble I could get into for helping (unknowingly) a drunk driver. The cop finally left, and about 5 hours later, when it was dark, the kid knocks on my door, thanked me 1000 times for helping him, said he was on his way home from a Steelers football party at a friends house, where he had been drinking, and was just showing off for his girlfriend when he flipped over backwards. I helped him push the bike onto the trailor he brought, he asked me what kind of beer I drink, and sure enough, a few days later I came home from work and there was a case of beer on my front porch. Sorry the stories so long, but it was definitly one of the weirdest things that ever happened to me. To this day I don't know his name, whether he got into any trouble, or if he's even fixed the bike. But I did drink all that beer!!!
  9. PLEXUS. great stuff. but it's about $8-10 a can...
  10. I've been thinking about getting a 2nd gen, now that I'm getting older and things are starting to slow down a bit. Maybe a 2nd gen makes sense.
  11. Glad to see you're not hurt too bad, sorry about the bike though. Did you notify the township or state road authority about the mud? They should be at least partially responsible I would think. Especially if that is an ongoing problem for that part of the road. I would at least check into it. btw, I bet ya had some mud in your pants after that ordeal, huh?
  12. Riding? To golf course? Pretty sure it wasn't me. It's 17 degrees with freezing rain and snow here. Thanks for rubbing it in!
  13. That's a sharp lookin bike. I love that color.
  14. Do you think that thing is titled, insured and registered as a legal bike? And does it come in a soft-tail?
  15. Anybody know if 84 front rotors will fit on an 85 VR?
  16. those are the IDENTICAL lights i got for my 84vr. i will be mounting them as soon as we get a day where the temperature is decent. i think they should mount easily to the brackets i got from squidley at last years maintenance day at don's. thanks for the info on the outer ring coming loose. i will have to remember that when i mount them. for now the lights are still in the box on my dining room table, right next to the metzler front tire i got as a christmas gift. i think my wife is looking forward to warm weather more than i am.
  17. I have no idea where this picture was taken. It was sent to me along with a few of these ones... That's why I don't mess with the bulls either...
  18. This is why I don't do stoppies on my venture.
  19. I'd think twice about selling parts off his other bike. At least until you have a title for it. The last thing you need or want is this guy coming at you saying there was no financial agreement on the work done to the first bike, and now he is trying to get the second bike back in his possession, only to find out you have stripped it down and sold parts from it. You know what the truth is in all this but believe me, some people will say anything (true or not), even when under oath. My point is, you have no idea what this guy might say, and you don't want to put yourself in a situation where you have actually done something wrong. Just be careful about selling parts off that other bike. By the way, have you ever mentioned small claims to him or offered some sort of payment arrangement, or even offered a reduced payoff? Even half of something is better than all of nothing. Maybe he will give title to the bike in your possession in exchange for payment for the work you did, then you could go ahead and sell it off and recoup some of what is owed to you.
  20. Welcome and congratulations. I don't know the answer to the side cover question, but I will attest to the fact that you will find all kinds of help on this site. I am NOT mechanical at all, and I have been able to do several things to my 84 with the advice of members here. Oh yeah, post some pics when you get the bike.
  21. It's the simple economic law of supply and demand. The demand for 1gens is much greater than the supply, so there are none listed because no one wants to get rid of theirs. On the other hand, how many 2gens are for sale?
  22. check out PA RIDER's pic gallery.
  23. now i know where that puddle of oil on my roof came from:rotf:
