  1. Just an update... I took the lid off the clutch resevoir cover, unscrewed the bleeder all the way out, and the fluid started draining out, it looked like mud. It was gravity draining for a while and I got impatient and started pumping the clutch lever, and the fluid was squirting out the bleeder. I pumped until nothing was coming out anymore and the resevior was completely empty. I cleaned all the muck out of the resevior, put in new fluid and screwed the bleeder all the way in. Next, I pulled the clutch lever in and zip tied it to the handgrip, then I unscrewed the bleeder all the way out again. The next thing I noticed was air bubbles coming out of the hole where the bleeder was, and sure enough the fluid level in the resevior started slowly going down. After a few minutes fluid started coming out the bleeder hole so i put the bleeder screw all the way back in and let the clutch lever out once the bleeder was tight. I did this process one more time. I got a few bubbles the second time before fluid started coming out again. Clutch lever is stiff again and seems to be working fine. and was still working good after the 30 minute test drive. Not sure if this is the conventional way of doing things but it seems to have worked pretty good for me. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and ideas. Hope this might help someone in the future...
  2. not offended at all. i didn't even know it was plain old dot 3 brake fluid. and thanks for the info, at least i know where to start now
  3. so i've read two threads on this and i think i will try to put in new fluid. my question is, How? where is the resevior? where is the bleeder? what type of clutch fluid? does anyone have any pictures of this? this is all new to me so assume that i know nothing, because i don't. thanks for the help...
  4. put the old ones on and keep peace...I will dispose of the VR replacement slip-ons for ya so they don't clutter up your garage. pm me for my address, i'll even pay the shipping
  5. Can i borrow your wife? or at least her credit card???
  6. I LOVE MY METZLERS, BUT... with all the negatives i've read on here i will probably look for something different when the time comes. i do seem to check the tires alot more often now and one thing i have noticed is noise that seems to come from the tires, especially when i'm leaning thru a turn. (never seemed to hear it before with the old dry-rotted, bald dunlops that were on the bike before.) So far, so good...(Knock on wood)
  7. Don't ya just hate it when there is gravel all over the road like that...
  8. ya, what is the target now? let's decide on something so i know what to watch out for the next time i'm riding, although it's starting to get a little chilly around here today. before too long the target will be a snow man. and i can't believe you guys figured out that picture was fake, i mean, with all the time i spent trying to get the pictures to blend together and all. did someone really think it was real? maybe i could get a job creating pictures for the tabloids. let's decide on something and get this thing going again...
  9. It took me almost two whole minutes to copy and paste, er, i mean, take that picture.
  10. What are you implying? Do you know how hard it was for me to get that character to stand still at the exact second the firework was exploding?
  11. Cinderella, Thanks for understanding my warped sense of humor...
  12. It took me a while, but I finally did it. Here's a picture of me, my bike, the westminster college titan mascot, watching fireworks in front of a rock city painted barn, next to a tractor in front of a silo. Wow, that was a tough one... Next target, you, your bike, in front of a giant American Flag... Good Luck... and NO CHEATING:banana::banana:
  13. plus, i've had the fireworks target in my head ever since this thing started. my hometown of new castle,pa is known as the fireworks capital of america, and that's our little claim to fame. 2 of the most famous fireworks companies are zambelli's and pyrotechnico(which just won a major competition in canada). there is fireworks around here all the time, but i guess in other parts of the country the fireworks shows must slow down after july 4th. the silo/tractor target is fine with me, but i'm still going to feel like i won this one:dancefool:
  14. My feeling was the more challenging the target is the more fun it is. Easy targets make it more of a race instead of a scavenger hunt. But whatever you guys want to do is fine with me. I just know that i've been looking for a costume character everywhere i went for the last couple months, and when this one came walking down the street at the tailgate party i was like a kid at christmas. i was shaking and my wife thought i was insane. but that's what made it even better.
  15. FINALLY!!! Me, My Bike, and the Westminster College Titans mascot character. Taken this past Saturday before the game at the tailgate party. Next target...You, Your bike and fireworks exploding in the background. (since my hometown is the "Fireworks Capital of America") Here's the picture...
  16. Does anyone have MS Office 2003 AND OpenOffice installed on the same computer? And has there been any problems with that?
  17. by the way, i noticed that your original post was at 5:02 and you were done riding by 5:35. that wasn't much of a "ride"
  18. Does this mean that you will be starting a giantcypressrider.org website? If you build it, they will come...
  19. What do ya charge for the installation? I bought the cables off Squidley two years ago at maintenance day and haven't put them on mine yet. Afraid I'll get it torn apart and won't be able to ride...
  20. Just thought I'd share this bit of interesting info. My tach DOES NOT MOVE when it's cold, usually on those cold mornings on the way to work. There is no change in the performance of the motor and everything else seems to be working fine, so it's not a major concern for me right now. Just thought it was different though...
  21. What kind of carb cleaner did you use? I tried spraying some Sea Foam on them once but it only made them fly faster. That stuff is awesome!!! :rotfl:
  22. Read this story to see how it's becoming even more difficult to find a costumed character. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26213955/?GT1=43001 I plan on spending the weekend riding all over the tri-state area searching for the Froggy 95 radio mascot so we can finally move on with this.
  23. Wow!!! Does that thing come with flames and a turbo charger?
  24. saw one of these at a local bike night last week. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GLSTyvONNc]YouTube - Spyder 3 wheel motorcycle[/ame]
