  1. My one and only...Going to Westminster College in the fall, majoring in football and girls, but not necessarily in that order. in the pic is me, my stepson Jordon and my wife Jodie
  2. That storm front rolled through my area about 8:00. I was at a graduation party (on my bike of course). and it just stopped raining about 45 minutes ago. Still not raining now, so LET's RIDE...
  3. Well, I finally had a chance to take a closer look to see what caused my front end wobble/bounce after I had put on new brake pads and new metzeler tire on the front. After several of your suggestions about fork brace, warped rotors, stuck calipers, wheel bearings, etc., it turns out that the tire was simply not mounted properly to the wheel. The darn thing was never beaded all the way to the rim. You should have seen the looks on their faces when I took it back to the bike shop where I got the tire and I told them I almost went in to a ditch because of such a simple, overlooked issue. At least they remounted and balanced it the right way this time. Thanks for all your suggestions and especially to those who offered to give me some free rotors, but I don't think I'll be needing them right now, as the wobble/shaking seems to be fixed now. btw, this site is awesome!!!
  4. maybe some of our leo members can add to this: hit and run is classified as a? summary offense, misdemeanor, or felony doesn't the seriousness of these have something to do with the dollar amount of the damage? example: assume that hit and run with damages under $400 is enough to charge her with a class 3 misdemeanor, damages from $400 to $2000 as a class 2 misdemeanor, over $2000 is a class 1 misdemeanor, etc... maybe the cop is just trying to charge her with a lesser offense, knowing that the damages will actually be more and the insurance will pay whatever the estimate is anyhow. she's still getting charged with something, you're still getting reimbursed for what you're out, and we all live happily ever after... then again i may have NO idea of what i'm talking about
  5. Ya gotta keep us updated on this saga. btw, did the police, lawyer, or insurance company request the video from your HR dept yet? once the request comes from one of them i'm sure that HR lady will just shut up and hand it over. and once you get a copy of it, can you post it on here so we can all watch it?
  6. Did ya ever think of getting one of these?
  7. I only see 2 GA members listed with Millenium Ed's
  8. No, not that kind of ride... ...but I think this might be a new ride at Six Flags or Cedar Point! I wonder how tall you have to be before they let you get on
  9. Or, is the first gen from canada soooo fast that it was there already for next year's maint day? 364 days early...
  10. EBC-front-$32.95 a set-yamaha dealer The dealer told me there are two different rotors on the front of an 84. That can't be true can it?
  11. Metzler Marathon 880 and EBC pads After checking it out more I think that the rotors may be warped or have a high spot. I'm looking into getting new rotors now.
  12. is it possible that the axle bolt is too tight? the wheel doesn't really spin freely when it's off the ground. anybody know what the torque specs are for the axle bolt?
  13. Put on new front brake pads and a new front tire yesterday. Thought I was done but there is a wobble now in the front end that got pretty scary the faster I went. Is it possible that the wheel is not in straight? Defective tire? There was no wobble with the old tire and brakes. Anybody have this same problem or ideas? How do I figure out what it is? :confused24:
  14. Sound like you started maintenance day a little ahead of schedule. Me too.
  15. Metzler 880............$170.00 EBC brake pads........$32.95 2 1/2 inch c-clamp.....$4.29 venturerider.org.........PRICELESS The local yamaha dealer told me it would be $90-$100 for labor to mount new tire and change the brakes. Now that I know what to do it really isn't all that difficult. The c-clamp worked just fine retracting the pistons back into the calipers. Now I guess I'll have to go out for a test ride for the next couple hours. Hmmm, north, south, east or west...I hate having to make such difficult decisions.
  16. I've used a c-clamp doing this on a car before but I would need a much smaller c-clamp for this bike. I guess it's time to go buy a smaller c-clamp... thanks for the ideas
  17. Probably a simple question, but when I put the new front brake pads in the caliper they barely will squeeze in there. There is NO way the rotor is going to fit in between those new pads. So, how do I get the pistons to retract into the calipers? I know I'm probably overlooking something obvious but I just can't think right now. Thanks for thinking for me...
  18. When I first read the title to this thread I thought it was about something else, then I remembered this is a PG rated site.:rotf:
  19. Now that's a nice looking bike. :cool10:
  20. I need to put some new rubber and brake pads on the front of my 84. Is there anything that might surprise me with this procedure or is it relatively simple? I will be removing front wheel, having dealer put new tire on wheel, and I think I might as well put new brake pads on while I'm at it. (does EBC $32.95 a set sound reasonable?) Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated...
  21. I knew I should have ridden the bike to work today. This was not what I wanted to fix this evening.
  22. In Pennsylvania, about half of the test you take to get your MC permit is questions about what part of the lane to be in. The study manual says break the lane into thirds, and then on the given situation you should be in the correct third. Such as bends, passing, approaching intersections, etc.; alot of it has to do with where other vehicles are. Basically they suggest always giving yourself enough space to be able to avoid someone that moves into your space. When I ride in a group we always stagger with the lead in the left of the lane. I prefer to be in one of the tire tracks instead of the center because my thinking is that if there was something on the road like a dead animal, rock or whatever, if a car traveled down the road before me the cars tires either kicked the debris out of the tire track or at least the dead animal has been squashed enough that I will just go over it if I don't see it in time to swerve and it's not like driving over a curb.
