Help, wifes Virago is using a lot of oil
frogmaster replied to raceman62race's topic in General Tech Talk
I think your concept is correct and if your my age we all seen the Blue Smokers of the past (years ago) but today's oils are very clean and burn cleaner too. At the rate he is adding Oil he is burning clean oil constantly no chance to collect all the old Carbons suspended in the Oil thus less Blue Smoke as reported. Compression test will confirm Blow Bye. If lucky the Rings are Shot and the Cylinders & Valves are not Damaged (fingers crossed for you) Good Luck. -

Emergency Braking is something you have to "Practice" to be good at. A Saturday in an empty school parking lot. I even make my 2 Up practice this too. Told her is is OK to fall forward onto my back and shoulders and Hold Tight... might as well close your eyes nothing to see except the back of my neck LOL! She did very well TY. The MSF.Org course has some braking courses... The one that is mind-blowing is in the middle of a curve SNAP handle bars Level then E-Brake. Feels un-natural to pull out of a curve to Brake but they explain several real life senarios that make since and get this IT REALL WORKED. They start with Straight E-Braking and is part of Final Exam and if you lock rear or front you fail that exam. They gave us 45 minutes prior to exam to practice anything we wanted to do better at... Yep I spent all 45 minutes E-braking. Anyways PRACTICE E-Braking the right way. See MSF.Org. Hey Redryder I see ya near TAWAS, MI. MSF.Org $25.00 and use there 250cc if ya like. Good Luck

Did almost same see my Pics.. You KNOW the RULE... Without Pictures its just a story... As far as tounge 1.5 is ok for a car or truck but for a m/c I would say 2x (the axle length, outside tire to tire) MINIMUM. I know (I still have to extend mine H.F, stingy with tongue length). Did you remove the 2 smaller Leaf Springs? IMHO not needed and adds to bouncing and handling problems like you described. Also I experimented with Tire Pressures / Weight by spray painting 4" swath across tread and pulled across cardboard to see Tire Patch... Here is what i found: Empty = 170lbs = 20lbs Plus 50lbs = 25 lbs plus 100lbs = 30lbs Did 600 miles in 2 days with 50lbs @ 25psi..... PERFECT WEAR PATTERN and no BOUNCY Good Luck

Will try my best to describe so you get a good picture in your mind... Last eve was on the way home at Sun Set and Peak Deer time. I had my XXL Clearview Windshield and my Clear Safety Glasses and my visor was full up. Had Mimi on the back too. North West Michigan rural Highway M-37. I was scanning left and right 10 to 12 seconds (Max headlight range) like a mad man. Seen 5 deer next too road (3 did not move, 1 went back to woods and 1 crossed 10 to 12 seconds in front). Then climbing a large and long hill I was 10 seconds behind a Toyota ForeRunner he was using High Beams and I was in the left 1/3 of my lane (near the yellow line) using Low Beam. Me and the Forerunner had been like this for the last 15 or 20 miles (best for the situation). Mimi and I have a "Deer Spotting Contest" DEER Right, Deer or Left Deer Front commands through our intercom. OK back to the large and long hill. There is a campground at bottom of hill on leftside and over the hill about 2 miles is a Party Store / Gas Station. Just as we got to the top of the hill I say "Deer Left" in the next 1 to 3 seconds I realize there are 4 "DEER EYES" bobbing up and down.... Wrong... I then recognize them 'bobbing deer eyes" as Bicycle Pedal Reflectors from two bicycles. They were on the farthest left shoulder of the road going head on to on coming traffic (good), but then I see them weaving badly into the oncoming lane maybe 1/3 into that lane. Remembering when I was a kid peddling to the top of a big and long hill I was tired, out of breath and wobbly too... OK so far recognized and analyzed the situation at hand... Then headlights started from the other side of the hill (Thinking to myself they better get that wobbling under control soon).... Just as the Toyota Forerunner in front of me passed them one of the kids decided he was going to avoid the oncoming car in his lane by cutting across the street (now 5 to 6 seconds out)!!! I PRESSED Hard Right to get too the White Line and the kid is still coming across his front tire is now at the double yellow line. By time I get TUNNEL VISION and ON THE WHITE LINE and steady I started emergency braking procedure (My arms strained as me and now Mimi full weight was upon the handle bars). Realizing I was fully upright and not skidding when I was braking and under control I then forceably broke eye contact with white line to see where the Bicycle was now? In the corner of my left eye I see his Back Tire breaking the reflective double yellow lines and briefly seen his handle bars cranked hard left about 18 to 24" off my left handle bar!!! WE MADE IT. 1. Thank God 2. Thanks to my MSF.Org Training Classes (Basic and Advanced 2008). 3. Lucky

Want to say THANK YOU to all PGR everywhere. Had a funeral for SSG Timothy David who did 6 Tours 2-Afghanistan & 4 Iraq. I never knew him personally but when I heard of 6 Tours I got into my US Army Reserve Uniform and rode Bike 2 hours to Beaverton, MI. After paying my respects and honor I shook the hands of every PGR Member I could find and thanked them for being there nearly 100 of them. Some PGR members were very well aged and some in wheel chairs and walkers with oxygen bottles and they held Flags lining the sidewalks (THEY ARE GREAT AMERICANS and I told them so). IT WAS AWSOME !!! My first Tour was Afghanistan in 2003 and Jan 2010 all expense paid trip to Iraq (have to check up on Muffin-Man). As a Soldier myself and now a Biker and soon to be PGR member I can tell you that PGR makes a Military Funeral 1,000% Better. Charlie US Army, Captain.

What kills me is: Vibration Vibration Vibration Lack of Power (disguised by loud pipes... HP is NOT equal to Loudness)!!! Lack of Reliability Lack of Waranty Overpriced accessories Overpriced MSRP. Comsumer Reports would have HD for Lunch!!! Kind of like a Mini General Motors... So stuck on themselves and not listening to Customers = Bad Business. 2 cents

Walmart RCA mp3 player $39.00 600 songs no skipping same size as two Bic Lighters.

NGK - Iridium use the NGK to NGK Iridium conversion chart. These Spark Plugs: WILL NOT..... give more power or better fuel mileage (same as stock). WILL........... start faster and reduce warm up time by 50% or better. I use NGK IRIDIUMS in all my Yamaha's (2 each Outboards, UTV-Rhino-660, Subaru Forester- 2004) I will be replacing NGK to NGK-Iridiums in my Toyota Highlander 2008 & RSV-2008 when they are scheduled to be done soon.

niiiiiiice... Now we know Piggy Backer buys these and adds cooler rack and bumper! Can anyone confirm? I would not be buying PB Stock right now!

Mobil 1 didn't help
frogmaster replied to Hummingbird's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Was not too long ago a guy in had a Bad Whin just popped up from nowhere and NO OIL fixed it... He ended up Pulling Tire and Lubing Splines and that is when he discovered he needed a SHIM of 0.30" because something shifted or moved. READ THIS LINK... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=36609 PS: Do not confuse the Chirp with Whine.... Good Luck -
Frogman, Take it from the Ole "Frogmaster" you want the flooring to be 2x6 (Which actually measures 1.5" x 5.5") and either pressure treated (green stuff) or deck stain by Co called CABOT. An 850 lbs RSV on a trailer doing 75 mph on I-75 and hits a (dip in the road) can create greater than 1.0 G-Forces thus temporarily placing more weight under each tire. I have seen several vehicles bust thru 1" planking, especially after a few years and rotting. Good Luck.
