Yes, the VTS changed to the MTA several years ago. When Yamaha stopped production of the Venture in 1993, their membership numbers started declining. They moved to an "all bikes" format and renamed the club the Motorcycle Touring Association. I have been to a number of their rallies and they are a good group of folks. My membership has lapsed right now but I was a member as recently as last year and will most likely renew. I don't participate with them much any longer simply because I don't have enough time but I still support them as I can. Rick Butler is still a member there and is a past president and board member. I was also president and board member for a while and still have many friends in the organization. Their website is http://www.mtariders.com

Big Tom made Freebird cry, er, no, he made his eyes sweat.
Freebird replied to Bummer's topic in Watering Hole
There was sweat in my eyes, the sun was in my eyes, the wind blew dust in my eyes, uh....I think I have allergies. I was truly and sincerely surprised. I had no idea that you were ALL so capable of keeping a secret. It ALMOST makes me look forward to the fall so that I can start wearing it. I will admit that I was VERY nervous sitting in that chair. I just KNEW that Mini was behind me somewhere. I kept looking over my shoulder and here she came charging from the FRONT. She's a tricky one.... I guess I do have to forgive her now though. You are all great. Big Tom...you are a special person for and I know you went through a lot of trouble to pull this off. Thank you my brother. Thank ALL of you. -
Maintenance Day is ALMOST over. Everybody is gone now except for Rick and Linda Butler and they are leaving early Monday morning. I just want to say a couple of things and I'll try to keep it short. I LOVE the jacket and will cherish it forever. I was somewhat at a loss for words and to be honest, a bit embarrassed about finding myself a little choked up. If I COULD have talked, I would have said this. I want you all to know that what I feel about all of you and what this organization is NOT any pride that I have accomplished something beyond my biggest dream. I feel no arrogance, no conceit, no feeling that I am anybody special. What I feel is truly honored that you have made me a part of your lives. I am honored that so many of you have chosen to be a part of this group and very humbled that you all take the time to participate whether it be by attending this event or any of our others, by your participation here, however you choose to be a part of VentureRiders. I don't feel that I am doing anything special for YOU.....I feel that YOU are doing something special for ME by being a part of something much larger than myself. I wish I could better express in words how I feel about all of you but just know that you are a special and very important part of my life and I thank you for that. Now...I'll say it again. If you have never taken the time to attend a VentureRider event, whether it be my Maintenance Day, our International Rally or any of the other rallies, meet and eats, etc....you just absolutely do NOT know what you are missing. Please take the time to do so whenever you can. As for Maintenance Day...this one is now over but we are already thinking about, planning for and looking forward to Maintenance Day 2011. I'll post a date as soon as I can and hope that many more of you can work it into your schedules. Not sure what the count was this year. I know that I received one report that they counted 152 bikes and there is seldom ever a time when some are not out riding for one reason or another. I know that there were more than 200 people. Now I've told Eileen that I think we are about at the maximum that will show up. So..............let's shoot for at least 250 next year...but ... uh.....shhhhhhhhhhhh.....she might here me.

I forgot to mention. We do have a hot tub so bring your swimsuits if you think you might want to get in and relax. NO NUDITY. I'm thinking that some of you just don't look good naked any more...if you ever did.

Vin, You know that you and Sam are welcome here any time. With or without a bike. I sure wish you would just load up and drive on over. Doesn't even have to be maintenance day...you are welcome anytime you can get away. Eileen would like to visit with Sam again. Don

OK folks...I know it's kind of late notice but I had posted before that I would try to see if we could get a discount on Dyno runs at a local shop about 4 miles up the road. I had noticed a new sign in front that said "Dyno now available". I stopped and talked to him today. He usually charges $90.00 for a Dyno run that does not include tuning. He said that if we had enough people interested, he would do them for $40.00 each. I personally don't see the need for one but if enough of you are interested, I will call him back tomorrow and let him know. He has to do them in the late evening/night due to the noise and the fact that there is another business next door to him. So...it's your call.

hmmm....that's the first I have heard of it. I don't keep up with the local happenings too much I guess.

Don't worry about the toilet paper...we always have plenty. I DON'T want to be responsible for dirty bottoms. It may get crowded but some folks do use the shower in the house. Just bring towels if you wish to do so.

Good...I knew it was there but couldn't remember what it was called. AV or something. I could have gone outside and looked but that would have meant getting our of my recliner.
