I deleted it as soon as I saw it. As stated already, the rules clearly state that no political threads are allowed. I'm sorry if you missed that point and will be more than happy to refund your dues if you can't live with it.

Well, the good news is that Eileen, Dylan and I are on our way to Texas. We had planned to leave tomorrow but got away late today. Only drove about 5 1/2 hours or so but made it just south of Louisville, KY today and stopped early. The bad news is that I got an email from my company today. I need to enjoy this vacation because they just told me that they are increasing my territory. I used to have Ohio, Western PA and Western NY. They then replaced Western PA and Western NY and gave me Indiana and Michigan. Now they are telling me that I am keeping Ohio, Indiana and Michigan but they are adding back Western PA and Western NY and also giving me all of Kentucky and all of West Virginia. So there are some busy times when I get back from vacation. Oh well...I DO still have a job.

I looked through all the RSVPs but there was no Shirley listed. Most just stated + 1 guest though. Some put the name but not many. Sorry.

The GOOD news is that today I stopped by Best Buy and picked up a "pay as you go" type mobile broadband modem. So....I know that there will be a few days over the next few weeks when I will not have WIFI service but now I'm READY for it. So....I can still check in here at least once or twice a day. P.S. I didn't find much trash in the yard but did find two VERY NICE Limes.

I just don't know then. Mine are louder on the same volume setting than any others I have used. I know this sounds dumb but are you SURE you didn't have them turned around backwards. I actually DID have one of mine backwards for a while.

Yes, I'm in the other camp. In my opinion, the Elite's don't hold a candle to the Edsets. Sleeperhawk, I suspect that you had yours too far from your ears. If you had them in the same recesses that the thicker J&Ms were in, they were way to far away. They are so thin that I actually have mine secured to the outside of the liner right next to my ears.

Margaret is correct. There is an inactivity setting. I've set it to different values and don't remember what it is set on now. Folks were complaining that it was logging them out too fast if they were reading messages and got distracted and had to go do something else and then come back to find themselves logged out.

Removing Front Rotor Cover
Freebird replied to Dave77459's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Yes, they are Torx. My '99 has allen head screws but I some point, they went to the Torx screws. I ran into them when removing some rotors at maintenance day. -
This is WAY too confusing. Bob Dakin is also a member here. He lives in Lorain, OH and many of you have met him at my maintenance days. You may have met his wife also, Becky Dakin.

Could AIS cause chirping?
Freebird replied to philmartin's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Very doubtful but wouldn't take long to find out. -
Not Whine or Howl but CHIRPING
Freebird replied to LNGARY's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Well Gary, I will stay with the same opinion that I have always stated here. Whine: Inherent noise associated with the straight cut gears. Howl: Possible rear end problem. Chirp: Clutch basket. -
I've never heard of them. Looks like the only make them for the Harley right now. It never hurts to have another source and their prices look good but I don't agree that we are limited right now. There are several choices for the RSV between the various options offered by Yamaha and several aftermarket vendors.

Hey folks, I wasn't complaining at ALL about any messes. You folks really do a good job picking up after yourselves. There are just some things that I have to put away when it is all over with. Just part of the deal. No big thing at all.

Very cool. I love seeing these old bikes and etc.

Well, I will have my laptop with me and will check in when I can. The problem is that I'll be staying at my mother's house in Tyler, TX for at least 3 or 4 days and I know she has no internet service. I've actually thought about buying a mobile broadband model with a pay as you go plan to use when I need to.

Altitude pulling hf trailer
Freebird replied to casabroker's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I agree. Eileen and I pulled the highest peak in Colorado with a heavily loaded Bushtec trailer and never nothing but regular gas. We've also done the Canadian Rockies, the Smokies and numerous other mountains and there has never been a need for more power. -
You might try http://www.denniskirk.com They seem to have them and their prices are very good. Jake Wilson also has them. http://www.jakewilson.com/productDetail.do?navType=type&webTypeId=320&navTitle=Motorcycle+Tire+Accessories&webCatId=38&keyword=180%2F65B16&prodFamilyId=27761 http://www.jakewilson.com/productDetail.do?navType=type&webTypeId=320&navTitle=Motorcycle+Tire+Accessories&webCatId=38&keyword=130%2F80B17&prodFamilyId=27762 OOPS....Jake Wilson DOES show them to be "temporarily out of stock".

Yes, if you have the piece that broke off, you can glue it back on. Pipe cement in the plumbing department for ABS works great also. The method I posted above though is great if the tab is missing. Actually I think it's the best way even if you have the broken off tab because it is a much stronger repair. Even stronger than the original.

See this thread for a simple repair. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=516

I think it looks pretty cool but they certainly weren't the first.

OK folks, the last of you finally left my house on Monday after maintenance day. I had to immediately head to Cincinnati for business and was there until Saturday evening. I was home Sunday and then had to leave again early yesterday morning on another business trip. So the net result is that I have been home for only ONE day since all of you left. While I was home Sunday, I was busy putty away the concrete blocks (benches), chairs, etc. from Maintenance Day. Changed the oil in my wife's Sorento, installed some window vent visors on it, paid bills, did all my company expense and call reports for the week, ordered some parts for the lawn mower, various other things that HAD to get done. So, I'm out of town again this week and then on Saturday, Eileen,, Dylan and I are leaving for a long neglected vacation. We still have a LOT of family in Texas so we are going to head that way for a couple of weeks. First to the East Texas area and then on to Dallas for a few days. Sorry, there will just be no time for visiting our VentureRider friends while we are there. We are going to be slammed for time just trying to see family that we haven't seen in close to 10 years. Now as many of you know, I have the forum setup so that I get emailed every post made here. That is usually several hundred emails per day. There are likely going to be several days that I will not have email access and the number of emails building up is going to be tremendous so I am probably going to turn off the emailing of posts while I am gone. What this means is that if you post something that is specifically directed at me, I may well miss it. If you have something important that I really need to address, you will probably want to send me a PM about it. That way I will be sure to see it, though it may be a few days before you get a response. To be honest, I'm not really looking forward to this vacation. I am excited to see family that I have not seen in several years but trying to get around to all of them is going to be hectic and not very restful. It is time to make the effort though.

OK....seems to work just like it should. I have added a link in the left menu here on the forum.

Worked on this a bit tonight. Got it all screwed up and FINALLY got it back to ALMOST the way I had it. Will tackle it again later.
