Altitude pulling hf trailer
Freebird replied to casabroker's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I agree. Eileen and I pulled the highest peak in Colorado with a heavily loaded Bushtec trailer and never nothing but regular gas. We've also done the Canadian Rockies, the Smokies and numerous other mountains and there has never been a need for more power. -
You might try http://www.denniskirk.com They seem to have them and their prices are very good. Jake Wilson also has them. http://www.jakewilson.com/productDetail.do?navType=type&webTypeId=320&navTitle=Motorcycle+Tire+Accessories&webCatId=38&keyword=180%2F65B16&prodFamilyId=27761 http://www.jakewilson.com/productDetail.do?navType=type&webTypeId=320&navTitle=Motorcycle+Tire+Accessories&webCatId=38&keyword=130%2F80B17&prodFamilyId=27762 OOPS....Jake Wilson DOES show them to be "temporarily out of stock".

no..I am ever present.

Yes, if you have the piece that broke off, you can glue it back on. Pipe cement in the plumbing department for ABS works great also. The method I posted above though is great if the tab is missing. Actually I think it's the best way even if you have the broken off tab because it is a much stronger repair. Even stronger than the original.

See this thread for a simple repair. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=516

I think it looks pretty cool but they certainly weren't the first.

OK folks, the last of you finally left my house on Monday after maintenance day. I had to immediately head to Cincinnati for business and was there until Saturday evening. I was home Sunday and then had to leave again early yesterday morning on another business trip. So the net result is that I have been home for only ONE day since all of you left. While I was home Sunday, I was busy putty away the concrete blocks (benches), chairs, etc. from Maintenance Day. Changed the oil in my wife's Sorento, installed some window vent visors on it, paid bills, did all my company expense and call reports for the week, ordered some parts for the lawn mower, various other things that HAD to get done. So, I'm out of town again this week and then on Saturday, Eileen,, Dylan and I are leaving for a long neglected vacation. We still have a LOT of family in Texas so we are going to head that way for a couple of weeks. First to the East Texas area and then on to Dallas for a few days. Sorry, there will just be no time for visiting our VentureRider friends while we are there. We are going to be slammed for time just trying to see family that we haven't seen in close to 10 years. Now as many of you know, I have the forum setup so that I get emailed every post made here. That is usually several hundred emails per day. There are likely going to be several days that I will not have email access and the number of emails building up is going to be tremendous so I am probably going to turn off the emailing of posts while I am gone. What this means is that if you post something that is specifically directed at me, I may well miss it. If you have something important that I really need to address, you will probably want to send me a PM about it. That way I will be sure to see it, though it may be a few days before you get a response. To be honest, I'm not really looking forward to this vacation. I am excited to see family that I have not seen in several years but trying to get around to all of them is going to be hectic and not very restful. It is time to make the effort though.

OK....seems to work just like it should. I have added a link in the left menu here on the forum.

Worked on this a bit tonight. Got it all screwed up and FINALLY got it back to ALMOST the way I had it. Will tackle it again later.

Sorry, I'll try to get on this tomorrow night. I got flustered trying to get the Canadian Postal Codes to work in the classifieds. Finally got that working tonight.
-
OK folks...this appears to be working now. Thanks to SilvrT for his help with the data. I posted a test ad using a Candian postal code and it did work. Now I know there are some mistakes in the US zipcode data and that is what sometimes causes the distances to be incorrect. The program uses longitude and latitude coordinates that are tied to each zipcode to calculate the distance. So if any of those coordinates are entered incorrectly, it causes mistakes. If anybody cares to verify the data, you are welcome to do so. There are only about 1,860,000 entries that have to be verified. I'll just live with the mistakes thank you.

Well Joe, if it makes you feel any better at all, I agree that they stuck it to you. I have a large Honda dealer about 14 miles up the road that is a little higher on the tire prices than you can buy them online but if you buy from him, he installs them for free. Yes, I think that they took advantage of somebody in need.

My 550 held all the North American maps but I first had to delete some stuff that I didn't need. Like other language files and etc.

Interesting evening yesterday. I was in the hotel last night and decided to check my banking account. I do do that on a regular basis so it must have been some sort of premonition. So, I get paid twice a month via automatic deposit. Yesterday was not a payday but due to some sort of computer glitch, the company did a payroll deposit. They almost immediately caught it and then sent out a deposit reversal to all our banks. No problem right? WRONG. Then my bank made a mistake. They never credited the initial deposit to my account but were kind enough to withdraw the REVERSAL...so....my account was debited the amount of two weeks pay from my balance. It was truly by chance that I even checked the account last night. I contacted the bank and they immediately corrected the mistake and it caused no problems but you REALLY have to watch this stuff.

Well heck...maybe I'll just keep my 550 for now. It has been completely trouble free. I may wait a while until they get the bugs worked out of the 665.
-
No, you can find them between 8 and 9 hundred. The 665 comes with the puck so that is not extra on it.
-
Yes, it's in good shape and I've never had a problem of any kind with it. If anybody is interested, let me know.

Yes, we do get a discount. Did you tell him you are a member here? I don't know if the cables on the TD or longer or not. I went with the longer SS lines when I installed my Flanders bars. Several here have installed them and stayed with the stock cables. I think they had to do a bit of re-routing but made them work.
-
I've been kicking around the idea of upgrading to the 665 just because of the larger screen. I wonder though what a used 550 is worth? Think I could get $500 for it WITH the XM puck? I did upgrade the maps on it a couple of months ago.

You are all VERY FUNNY people. Believe it or not, I actually mentioned to Eileen that maybe we should have two a year. One in the spring and one in the fall. Don't worry though, the doctors say that I should fully recover in a few weeks.

The only explanation that I've heard is that the bolt that is in that same area may have been over tightened when the bike was assembled.

I was told that the Electrical Connection now has a plug and play harness for our bikes. I have not personally verified it and it's not listed on their page. You might want to shoot them an email or call them. Let us know what you find out. http://www.electricalconnection.com/index2.htm
