That's what I thought as well, but didn't want to say anything and rain on somebody's else's parade.

You need to take off the middle gear cover, to take off the stator cover, which has the shift shaft coming through it at the bottom right as you face the bike from the left side, which is the left side as you are sitting on the bike, unless you are facing the back of the bike while sitting on it, then it would be the other left side,,,,,,, anyways, the shift shaft has a knuckle on the inside of the stator cover and it needs to be in the UP position. It likes to be in the down position, but that is wrong and leads to a very hard stator cover install,, it will go on but needs a lot of help,,, if done right, the cover should slip on quite easy like.

A friend of mine's son tried this,,, it worked real good on the tank,,,, but lunch the next day had a different flavour,,,, and the ice-cream also tasted like something else. It would stand to reason that the vent is there to let air in,, not out,,, so if there is a vaccum,,,, yep, something's not working.

You got your mind in all the wrong places........ I don't know what it is,,,, but it's going to take a 2nd gen to put it on,,,, 1st gens already have all they need.

Maybe time to check the oil level to make sure it's right. Personally, I wouldn't worry about a drop, that might have got caught up in the valve somehow,, but any more than that would suggest too much oil in the fork. Maybe you could put some more air in the fork, and then let it out,,, than there should not be any oil.

If it sucks air when you go to fill up,,,, the vent is plugged.
-
So what does that mean,,,, you just gonna off load it on somebody else?

Battery/Electrical failure
Marcarl replied to Owen's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Sounds like warranty to me,,,, but then maybe just a loose plug coming from the stator,(3 wires), or maybe the plug coming from the regulator to the battery,,,, or maybe just so simple as a loose connection at the battery. -
what I really need is a Phillips screwdriver that doesn't strip out the screw heads, a flat screwdriver that doesn't dig out parts of ones hand, and hammer that doesn't smash everything to pieces. Ya, that's all,,,,,,, for now.

Handling Question
Marcarl replied to Reddog170's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You might find a bit more oil if you leave off the drain screw, and then pump a little air into it. -
Heel toe shifter is not the best idea for a 1st gen,,, it tends to break off the bearing in the stator cover. Sorry for the info,,, but that's what happens.

Where the HE$$ does the seat nuts go.

Have you looked on the floor??? if you have, I guess that's not the right place to look,,, better spend your time looking elsewhere. -
Handling Question
Marcarl replied to Reddog170's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Good luck,,, it's going to be interesting. When I did mine, the whole front end came apart, including the steering head. Just tightening the head may not be the answer, the bearings might have a worn spot in them, so I suggest to replace them. They can be bought at your local bearing store much cheaper than from your dealer. I mean, if you have the forks down anyways, it's only a little more to do the head bearings and then you won't ever have to go there again, and you'll know that the issue isn't in the steering head. -
I have one of the few 85 Royales. Sure do love this scoot, it's the best one made.

I think in this case I would have considered it as well,,,,, especially to cut the comments from grown ups,,,, that probably done the most damage. I just worry about other cases and how the 'doctors' find way to make money. I know, this one was for 'nothing', but that doctor sure got his name out!!!!
