88 venture carb sync question
Marcarl replied to masterofyard's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Just a stupid thought I suppose, but is your exhaust clear, or maybe it's blocked? -
Hope everybody caught the words: 85mph. I don't condone any cell phone talking while driving, but then 85 mph is an accident waiting to happen as well. I'd say that fault was equally shared to a degree.

Or it could be a bent shifter shaft behind the middle gear case, also no need to split the motor.

Some bikes just ain't got no class!

The use of Sea-foam is highly recommended by lots of members, but does little for any ports or jets that are totally plugged, where the CTC carb cleaner can be forced into the carb ports, but it is a little harsher, so a prolonged period of treatment might not be all that beneficial. -
Evening rides have kind of come to a halt, seeing as just by the time we'd get rolling somebody turns off the Big light. But now an afternoon ride might be an idea, but kind of iffy for tomorrow, seeing as we are expecting some dripping from the clouds. Anybody got ideas?????

We had a fantastic weekend. Saturday was an all day ride to the Blue Mountains and Beaver Valley,,, great weather, good roads and awesome colours. Sunday was our family get-together and Thanks Giving pot luck. We could all give thanks for the fact that we had good cooks at home and the others had to deal with their own good cooks. Pot lucks are always interesting. Monday was spent, first in worship of the Creator who provides everthing and then the afternoon seen us, with 4 bikes total, meandering around southern Ontario, from Brantford to St Marys and then through Waterloo to West Montrose with a planned stop at the Pioneer BBQ for supper,,,,,, but they were closed, so thanks to Don and Nancy we ended up at Moose Winooskis for supper. We had a grand weekend with our physical family and our Venture family,,,, who could ask for anything more.

For this procedure you'll need a fresh new can of CTC carb cleaner. Remove air filter and air box and the four diaphragm covers. Attach the small red sprayer tube to the can, look inside the carb throats and spray the cleaner into all the jets and ports you can find, each one should be open to another part of the carb, in other words, when you spray it should not spray back at you. Don't just spray at the jets, put the tube into the jets and spray through them. Watch your face, for some times it could blow back at you, and it's not good for the eyes or facial skin. Let things sit for 15 minutes and do it again. If some are plugged and still plugged, use a little air to force things a bit. Don't use 120 lbs, maybe only 40 lbs of air. Now move to the diaphrams. You'll find more small ports there, do the same thing, being careful to keep your face away from the top of the carb, spray will come up through the throats. Again, use a little air if necessary. This whole process should take about 2 hours. Button things back up, spray the rest of the container in the tank, and go for a ride. -

I'll say this makes for real interesting planning,,,,, glad we're such an easy going bunch or we could get real mad at each other. So,,,,, just to stir the pot,,,,,, let's say that Ben actually gets on the scoot at 9,, well he'll have to talk first,,,, so it's now 9:15 and he arrives at Wizards at exactly 10:15,,, has to meet all that are there and talk to each one,,,,, it's now 10:45,,,, it takes 35 min to ride to Marcarl's and it's just about time for lunch, so you all decide where to eat,,, do that and that's another hour,,,,, all added up it's now about 12:30,,,,,,,,,HEY???? we're home from church and only need to snack, change and get on the bike,,,, you all couldn't be that far away,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Good news I guess:happy65:,,, you just have me wondering what you are about to do with the clutch:think:,,,can you wait with that so more of us can come to take a look at the procedure so that if we ever need to do it, we'll know how it's done? -
OK by me,,, will try to call around 1pm but see you at 6 at Pioneer for sure.
