  1. His results do look good. But I wonder how many days it took and how many changes of bleach (read that as gallons). I also wonder about the legality of the bleach disposal afterward. There is a chromed plastic grill on my truck, I bought the truck that I have because it had the LEAST amount of chrome of the different brands for that year. This may be a good excuse to strip and paint the grill.
  2. Or if all else fails a magic marker. Although some of us have more forehead to write on than others....
  3. Yes I am dredging this up from the past. But I need a backrest before the ride to MD in June. Do you have any pics of the mods that you had to make to the bottom of the seat? Now that you have had this for a while, how do you like it? Do you think this same thing would work on my '88? I'm not sure I could live with my riding buddies (they all have Harleys) if they found out I had a Harley part on my bike.
  4. For me with the weak job that I have, it is getting dangerously close to that point now. And the bike is not even out of storage yet. I have already had to cancel a couple of trips that I had planned for this summer. If we can luck into some good weather, I hope to have the bike done and out by next week.
  5. My phone aint one of those crappy computer phones. It can do some really novel stuff. it makes and receives calls, with a voice, I can actually talk to the person on the other end instead of having to type out the conversation. Amazing technology huh? I've had this same phone for 6 years.
  6. Its gone now. CL pulled it
  7. Be careful with "conversions". While R134a is a popular refrigerant for conversions it is nowhere near as efficient as R12 or R22. It takes almost double the horse power to get the same BTUs of cooling. Also a system DESIGNED to use R134a will have much bigger compressor and coils. While the conversion if done properly will function, it will not function nearly as well as it used to with the R22. Most likely your house central air if older will have R22, it is expensive but still available. If you are low on refrigerant you have a leak, period. It is against the law to recharge a system without doing something to fix the leak. That something can be as simple as adding some dye to the system and recharging to be able to locate the leak in the future. Be careful, there are a lot of scammers, doing AC work. Some of them are even reputable companies.
  8. I got my spring kit from PCW the week before SkyDoc announced that he would be selling the kit. I spent an hour on the phone with PCW and they were very friendly and helpful. I have bought stuff from Skydoc and had to spend time on the phone with him and he also was very friendly and helpful. FWIW I have many tools from Craftsman, Snap-on, MAC, Master Mechanic, and Harbor Freight. All are lifetime warranty tools. Harbor freight is the only brand that I have never had to return a broken or defective tool. YET.
  9. Is there going to be a pin stripper at MD in just 2 months? It would be a good excuse to come.
  10. Gee, would that be considered a long distance call?? I assume you got it all resolved.
  11. My guess is that it will get busier as the time gets closer. Some of us are still buried under snow and yuck and don't know what all we need/want yet.
  12. Naaa... She will dump it for a lot less than what I said I paid.... As the vultures start to circle. HEY, WAIT A MINUTE, I aint dead yet.
  13. Stopping will be a big concern. Especially if you have to stop fast going down a steep mountain grade. You may want to look into electric brakes on the trailer. I have always read that about 30 lbs is the max tongue weight that a bike likes before handling issues start.
  14. You don't see a lot of them on the floor cuz it is getting harder to find cassette decks to put on them and they don't want to ship them with a hole in the dash.
  15. I don't have any PJs..... And I learned a long time ago to always do my own packing. I let someone pack for me once and got there with no pants.. Probably....
  16. Cool a can of worms, that means I can go fishing......
  17. One lazy Sunday morning the wife and I were quiet and thoughtful, sitting around the breakfast table when I said to her unexpectedly, "When I die, I want you to sell all my stuff, immediately." "Now why would you want me to do something like that?" she asked. "I figure a woman as fine as yourself would eventually remarry and I don't want some other a$$hole using my stuff." She looked at me intently and said: "What makes you think I'd marry another a$$hole?"
  18. Ummmmmm...... Isn't the saying "What you don't know can't hurt you???"
  19. I believe that is a site for downloading illegal pirated copies of software. I found a number of programs on that site that I know for a fact are not available for "free" download. I would recommend that you buy the upgrade from the correct legal source. Should your unit ever need service, in or out of warranty, the service dept will know if you bought the installed software from them or not. Buying from the legal source also helps to keep the cost of equipment down for someday when you chose to upgrade hardware. The manufacturer will not have to raise the price of the hardware to cover the losses from pirating the software.
  20. I have had the vertigo from an ear infection, Fortunately for me my hobbies required me to do a lot of spinning in circles so I have learned to ignore my inner ear as a primary means of balance. Like mentioned above it is not just due to getting old. I may be getting older, but I refuse to grow up....
  21. Gee Dan You better behave and stop with the surprises. After seeing the pics in this thread, Is a MC going to be able to pull that trailer? I mean heck, I've seen pics of it being pulled by a semi, and a full size 4x4 P/U. Is it really that heavy??? Or can a venture out pull either of those rigs??????
  22. Good thing you made it back before this weather hit. We had the same hail down here. About 1/2 inch diameter and enough to cover the grass and roads.
  23. just try us....... Pics required......
  24. And I kind of enjoy being in the gutter sometimes.....
  25. That is how mine started. Only hot. Then always.
