  1. Did you replace the diodes in the TCI as long as it is out?
  2. One other option to check. He didn't by chance fill it with DIESEL? If he did, be very careful, diesel and gas mix is easily ignited in the tank. In those old carb thingies that they used to use on cars, and I am just thinking out loud here. There is the spring that is behind the filter, Will that spring act as a pressure relief valve if the filter gets plugged and still allow the engine to run till the jets plug up with whatever was plugging the filter.
  3. Sounds like your charging circuit is dead.
  4. 'Mom, may I take the dog for a walk around the block?' Mom replies, 'No, because she is in heat.' 'What's that mean?' asked the child. 'Go ask your father. I think he's in the garage.' The little girl goes to the garage and says, 'Dad, may I take Belle for a walk around the block? I asked Mom, but she said the dog was in heat, and to come to you.' Dad said, 'Bring Belle over here.' He took a rag, soaked it with gasoline, and scrubbed the dog's backside with it to disguise the scent, and said 'OK, you can go now, but keep Belle on the leash and only go one time round the block.' The little girl left and returned a few minutes later with no dog on the leash. Surprised, Dad asked, 'Where's Belle?' (YOU'RE GONNA LOVE THIS!!!!!!!! ! ) The little girl said, 'She ran out of gas about halfway down the block, so another dog is pushing her home.'
  5. Not me, I'm still doin 'er.........
  6. I like that solution, and low and behold, I just got an email from DQ with a coupon for a blizzard. I'm off to get some counterbalances.
  7. HUH???? Did you add a center stand to your 2nd gen? I have also noticed that even when on the side stand my bike stands much more upright than any other bikes around. I still think that I need to shorten the side stand. Sometimes I am sure I am going deaf from "that" voice.
  8. I had the bike up on the center stand while working on installing the trailer hitch. The bike is in a little 8x10 storage shed. It has to stay on the side stand in order to fit in the shed. I just backed it up a foot or so an put it on the center stand to work on it. At this point the back end of the bike is sticking out the door. So when I was done working for the night and went to put it back in the shed, I rocked it forward to drop off the center stand, ready to grab the front brake to not continue forward thru the wall, it cam down off of the center stand hard like it always does but this time I had not raised the side stand first..... I bet you see where this is going...... Yup as it plopped down the anti dive did not work cuz the ignition was off, there was still no air in either the front or rear suspension from winter storrage, and it tried to drop really low, but instead it landed on the side stand and caused the bike to lean hard and fast to the right. Did I mention that the right side of the bike is the side up against the wall????? Well it is. It took everything that I had to hold the bike up and not let it tip over and land against the wall, if it had leaned another millimeter, I don't think I could have stopped it. So the moral is, from now on make sure the side stand is up when dropping off the center stand.
  9. Well picked up a H3 HID lights setup to put in them. Got the HID setup for $37.00. I'll pack the halogens that come with the lights..... Started the mounting of the hitch on the bike, this part is turning into a PITA. ANOTHER run to the hardware store for different bolts. I suppose that I should start on the must do list instead of all of the wish list items....... But the wish list items are more fun to do......
  10. Any dry city's yet this trip???? NO MORE BEER!!!!!!!
  11. I'll be the one staggering in and out of the giant size tent.
  12. Gee, I know that table cost a lot and stuff, but are you really gonna make Annie eat off of the table, after all paper plates ain't that expensive......... Good to hear that the peeper is doing well.
  13. At my local FBO, rental on a C152 is $79/hr wet and a C172SP is $115/hr wet. Unfortunately, unless I am flying alone the 152 is overweight with any useful amount of fuel on board. FWIW I know of a local Piper Cherokee for sale that is at mid time on the engine asking $25K. Owner permanently lost medical.
  14. Some people have all of the luck.........
  15. The challenger has been around and popular for a long, long time. If it was as dangerous as all that it would have been out of favor and/or business a long time ago.
  16. I would say to try them with no resistor first. If you do not like the fast flash rate you can always add the resistor later. Technically the flasher should wear out sooner. so you have to replace it once every 20 years instead of 25 years....... so what.
  17. The only time that the load resistor is actually being used is while the turn signal is actually lit up. When the turn signal part of the LED is not illuminated you are still getting the full benifit of the LED driving/parking lights. In reality, how much of you riding time is the turn signal bulb actually lit? Maybe 2 or 3 minutes max out of a half hour ride. not a significant draw. It is the running lights where you are really getting a benefit from the LEDs. There is a thread on here somewhere that tells how to hook up an electronic flasher that will handle the reduced load of the LED flasher bulbs, with no load resistors, and retain the auto cancel feature.
  18. I am in the process of building a receiver hitch to replace that big chrome think. Once I get the new receiver done I will have no use for the bake half of my Marklin hitch. It is not new but I only used it for dimensions, I paid 25 for it. I'll let it go for the same. If interested, PM me your phone and I'll explain it to you. Keep an eye on ebay, that is where I found mine.
  19. Looks like that cable will work good. I may have to git me some. Use a less sharp blade for stripping so that you do not damage so many strands. All of those nicked strands in the pic will end up breaking and not helping to carry current. Mike Whats even more dangerous, I have a personal account at McMaster-Carr, I don't even need my CC to place an order, and it is always here by 10:00am the next day.
  20. Some replacement grips that will fit a 1st gen. I do not know what I like, but I do know mine are very badly worn.
  21. It's early yet. A lot of us are still getting snow. Its hard to think about riding when it is snowing out.
  22. I have a lot of work to do on the fixture for the last step. But yes it is getting there. The first phase was a lot of hours of machining time and very little setup, This step will be a couple of minutes machine time and many hours of setup.
  23. I have been thinking of that as long as they use H3 bulbs so that I can convert them to 35W HID in the future.
