  1. I'm getting closer. All that is left for this setup is to mill the one last flat to the HEX part. It is hard to see in the pics, but there is just .030 left to take off on that last flat till it is done. This has made a huge pile of chips. 3/4 Of that steel bar has been turned into chips already. The next step is to slice this bar up to the required thickness and machine in the ramp on each side. Then heat treat. I'm still planning to get 20 tools out of this bar.
  2. I just finally bought a digital camera last night, so there may be another country heard from in the not to distant future.
  3. Its for the snow..... I'll take our winters over the south's summers.
  4. I guess I was remembering the good old days when CB was king. Thinking that it would be good while in a group ride or keeping tabs on traffic ahead.
  5. On the news last night they were talking about rolling blackout due to insufficient power with those nuke plants down.
  6. I have an '88, 1st gen Venture standard. It did not come from yamy with any sound system. The PO installed a car stereo in the left side of the faring. It is one of the old fashioned ones that mounts in a a rectangular hole with a shaft hole on each side. OK, that is where I am starting from. None of the wiring is present to install the factory stereo and CB. What would be a good CB to put on a bike and where would be a good place to mount it? I am sure that at some point it will get rained on. I would like to be able to adjust the controls while riding. I am not totally opposed to replacing the current stereo as part of this. I'm wide open for ideas.
  7. Nice fish. Better hurry home so that you do not have to defrost it before supper.
  8. OK, silly man question. Is there any difference between ladies boots and mens boots other than style? Of if they fit all is good?
  9. Although I have never had a passenger on my Venture, I have accedentally ridden with the passenger boards down. I did find that with my big feet as I take off from a stop, I do not like to drag my feet, so I kind of let them move back as the bike moves forward and since my foot is longer than the distance from the bottom of the board to the ground, and I got my big foot stuck under the board. (Not good for the toe of your boot.) This summer if the GF decides to start riding with me, I will have to relearn some things. That looks like it may have some potential.
  10. After the M&E, the better half is considering trying a ride on the bike. Will have to get her a helmet and some decent shoes, she only has stupid girl shoes. Then I get to learn how to adjust the rear shock air pressure and shock rate. It has been at least 15 years since I have had a passenger on the back. If we make it up there we will have to get back home early enough to let the Killer dog out. If it is just me making it up there, then there are more possibilities.
  11. Any chance to adapt the cruse from a 1st gen, mine will set at anything from 25-85 MPH regardless of gear.
  12. Thanks, it was a pleasure. Hmmmmm...... Maybe next time will have to set it up at either Nite Owl or Kopps. Good burgers and good ice cream. Or I suppose we could do Culvers or DQ. Culvers and DQ both have good ice cream but lousy food. If we did Nite Owl we could go across the street and watch airplanes while we eat. Today we were talking about taking Erika shopping for some riding gear. She has nothing at this point.
  13. But who is that old gray hared guy across from you???? Erika and I had a good time today. I sure hope everyone else did to.
  14. Is there any chance in a blue moon that you could have an OEM Yamaha windscreen for my 88 venture?? I know it is a discontinued item. I know there are some good after market ones, But I would prefer an original if I can find one anywhere. If you find one, let me know and I will stop looking for one, and wait for MD.
  15. Ha! I googled my screen name and you had to go thru a lot of pages before there was one that was actually me. I seem to have a pretty popular handle.
  16. I'm pretty sure that you wii will not do it. But it will not hurt anything to try.
  17. The other option is if you have a USB flash drive (with at least 8 gig of free space), you could go to visit someone that has a computer with a DVD, and copy the 3 files onto the thumb drive and then bring it home to copy to your computer for viewing. 8G flash drives start at around $15 from Best Buy, if you hunt a little you can probably find one for less. If someone had the right software you could split those files up and put it on a bunch of CDs to copy to your computer. If you stop over by my place I will be happy to copy the files over for you. While we watch them of course. As was mentioned you need a computer with a DVD player to be able to read these disks. Game machines or video DVD or blue-ray players will not be able to do it.
  18. Did you notice if the voltage changes were in sync with engine speed. The stator does not put out good power till above 3,000 rpm. There could be an electrical problem with your jacket or pants. Or it could just simply be that even the upgraded stator can not keep up with the power demand for all of the stuff that you have.
  19. I'll take all you can spare. Do you deliver?

  22. Is that so you can do burnouts up against the side of the building??? I'll be curious as to how you like it.
  23. Thats cheating, yes I'm jealous... Please post pics of the process, lots of pics.
  24. That's how I ride on my 1st gen......... Well OK maybe not quite that good. Well OK I just really suck in my riding skills compared to them...... I have seen a few different shows that these 2 have done, It never ceases to amaze me.

On TV last night they were talking that it would be ultimate storm if CS were to show up at the protests in Madison WI. I sure hope not, BOTH issues are being reported to the point of nausea. It does help me get things done though, as soon as either one pops up on the boob tube it gives me the needed ambition to get up off of my dead a$$ and head to the shop to get something done. OK rant over for now. Sorry:whistling:
