  1. $17 and change at Tractor Supply. Went to Wally World and as usual they were out but had it in qt containers so I bought 4 qts at 6 and change and two days later was in Tractor Supply and saw the sale.
  2. I was hoping someone could clear this up for me. I am new to Venture motorcycles, My last bike was a Goldwing and now I own a 2004 midnight RSV. I have read a lot of the back and forth talk about Harley VS. Goldwing Vs. Venture. In my opinion they are all great machines in there own way, offering different variety for people. I can go to a Harley dealership and look at a selection of touring bikes, or the Honda dealers always have a few Goldwings in stock. Why can’t I go to a Yamaha dealer and look at a new Venture. Is the demand higher than supply? My local dealer tells me he rarely gets them in but when he does, new or used, they don’t stay on the showroom floor long. It seems to me if we like them so much, Japan would supply us more of them. Anyhow, thanks for your time in reading this and maybe someone can shed some light on this for me.
  3. i have an escapade trailer with the old style 1157 bulbs in in it , is there an easy way to convert these to leds? i have found flat led plates at the local auto supply but wondering whats needs to be done to swap over thanks for the help steve
  4. Got a strange one here, at least to me anyway. A few of months ago one of the fog lights on my bike would be slow to start when turned on while the other one lit immediately. After a few weeks the slow light stopped working. As a test I replaced it with a spare light and it worked. Assumed it was just a faulty bulb and began using the spare rather than find the problem with the original one. Fast forward a couple of months and that spare light started getting slow to start too and after a week or so it also stopped working. Today I checked the voltage across the two supply connections which was about 13.5 at an idle. Plugged one of the connections back into the light and checked the voltage across the supply line and the light line and it was the same 13.5. Seems to me power at the supply line but no light would indicate a burnt out bulb or some other internal circuit issue. If the bulb were burnt out there should have been no voltage indicated with the second test. Didn't have time to open the light up to check further. What am I missing? The bulbs used are yellow H3's which are not readily available around here. I could try a white H3 but I'm going to order a set of HD H3 bulbs and give them a try so I didn't want to pay for a bulb that would not see much use.
  5. Im hoping someone comes up with health reform for dogs!! Just ordered Heartworm pills for both kids. A 12 month supply for each came in at 256 bucks!!!! Good grief!! :mo money::bawling:

  7. any resonably priced good source of supply for air filter for 08 RSTD?
  8. I would like to add a power supply (hard wired) off my 12 volt supply to run my 5th gen. Nano. Anybody have a clue. I have seed it on other RSV's but never asked the important questions.
  9. We currently have the series "Pacific" on over here and it made me realise once more how lucky we are on this big island that while our boys were away fighting the germans in Europe, U.S. forces "had our back" fighting the japs on Guadalcanal and other places. If they had got to our resources, and cut supply lines for the U.S. fleet.....I would have lived ??? a whole different life! So, from one very grateful aussie....thank you to your fathers, uncles, grandfathers, and any who served. :clap2:
  10. ... the dust from your PC. Just a friendly reminder to everyone to check your PC’s (Personal Computer’s) for internal dust, especially around the cooling fans and power supply. I took my unit outside today, opened it up and took the air hose to it now it’s as clean as a whistle! Yes I know, it's hard to unplug from VentureRider.org but it will only take you a moment. Besides, if it hasn’t been done in a while it might just save yourself power supply problems down the road. If you don’t have a compressor with ‘dry air’ you can buy compressed air in a spray can. Don’t forget to unplug!
  11. If anyone is interested there is over 400 retailers to shop at like Bike Bandit, Bass pro,Tractor Supply ,Target, Sears and you get paid back. http://ppl.blastoffnetwork.com/webshop ,
  12. Where do you buy the replacement oil filter? Yea the Yamaha dealer has them but only other place I found was tractor supply. I never ask at the auto parts stores.
  13. Hi Guys I haven't had the need yet, but I would like to know if there are significant risks with jumping my Venture with either a portable power supply unit, or from a passenger vehicle. If I happened to be out in the middle of nowhere and I was stuck with a dead battery, would it be okay to jump my bike's battery with anything besides besides another motorcycle? Or, could the potential consequences from such an attempt, make it not even worth taking the risk? I figure that it would be best to find out these answers before I need to make a decision. Once again, the state of my battery right now is just fine, and I haven't had any problems with it. It's currently hooked-up to a Battery-Tender and the bike is parked in a closed garage. I just want to know about this just in case I am faced with the need to make a decision sometime in the future. Thanks & Be Warm! Pete.
  14. Well I went and busted my 0-30PSi air pump and have since bought a 0-60PSi to replace it. I guess I pushed the 0-30PSi a little to far! Has anyone ever seen replacement gauges for those pumps anywhere? I contacted Progressive and they said that they do not supply parts. The Gauge has a weird thread on it so its possible that its made just to fit that pump....hard to say. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Keith
  15. Visited Cycle Gadgets again this year while in Eureka Springs and as always they treated my friend and I like Gold. They are truly good people. AJ bought a PIAA driving light set for his RoadGlide which they installed on the spot at no charge. They look really great with extra visibility and great night time performance. I bought a new half helmet headset that J&M has just came out with. It can be used on ANY half helmet. Very comfortable and inconspicuous on the helmet. On top of that it is made to just slide out and off when you don't want to use it. Again, the owner Sean installed it on my helmet and showed me how easy it was to use. On top of that I had a faulty electrical connection on my bike due to my electrically challenged wiring ability, where I wired in the extra 12v powerpoint supply behind the driver seat. Told Sean about it and it less than 10 seconds he was out in the parking lot making the repair with a new plug in connection. I was more than willing to pay, but as usual he wouldn't hear of it. Remember last year he soldered an extention on my XM power supply too. Well, just wanted folks to know about them. They aren't the cheapest place for accessories, but believe me they stand behind everything 110%. Jay
  16. Two questions. Switched or unswitched, your preferance? Is a power supply found in the front fairing or do I have to go all the way to the battery?
  17. I Installed new Freeway blasters on my 07 RSV, but they are not operating at full volume. This morning I'm going out to the garage to test for ground resistance. and the voltage supply to the horn's. My question is, Where are the ground points on my bike? I have been through the factory manual and can not find that info. Thanks guy's Ken
