It has snowed every day this year in Tucson Arizona...
Flyinfool replied to KIC's topic in Watering Hole
Lucky you. Tucson has had more snow this year than WISCONSIN. All we have had in Wisconsin is bright sunshine and warm weather. We have had to keep our ice in the freezer up here.- 6 replies

That brings up the questions How old gets pruned? If there is an old post in the watering hole that should be saved, how do we move it to a tech folder to avoid the pruner? Hey! arent you supposed to be out playing instead of messing around here?

Since I am not borderline diabetic and was given no dietary constraints for my heart, I'll be the martyr and eat all of your deserts and ice cream for you. Of course I will be sure to tell you how good it is/was. Its the least I can do to help you out.

I have had packages shipped from China to Wisconsin. The package made it from China to our loading dock faster than it made if from the loading dock to my desk.

Coolant bypass valve
Flyinfool replied to DesertRider's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Clive You can order the parts from Skydoc_17. He has a kit with new o-ring and a stainless socket head cap screw that is much easier to work with than the stock Phillips head screw. Well it has been 4 years since I posted that and the new o-ring and polishing the bore is still holding. -
Congrats, Let the spoiling begin........

Oil leak and smoking???
Flyinfool replied to Wesley G's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
A couple of things. 1. Your oil is still overfilled. It should never be more than half way up the sight glass with the bike level. 2. When I tried Amsoil, My bike leaked everywhere, went back to dino and the leaks stopped, some people have had this experience some do not. 3. I'm not sure on the 2nd gens, but on the first gen if the oil is over filled the engine will send oil into the aircleaner where it can get pulled into the engine this might be your smoke. -

gas mpg dropped significantly
Flyinfool replied to gogi's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
First thing is see if it is running on all 4. Start it up cold and see if all 4 exhaust pipes get warm at the same time. These bikes run amazingly well on 3 cylinders. The gas mileage is the first hint that you lost a cylinder. At least you narrow things down if you know which cylinder is the one that is nor running. -
And north WI just got 8 inches of fresh snow for you to play in.

Must be sumpin from the other side of the pond.

I never mentioned the boss........ Specially when the boss is vacationing here in Wisconsin right in my backyard. You would park it right on the marked hardly spot in the pic.....

General Consulting, not motorcycle related. Car related
Flyinfool replied to calperin's topic in Watering Hole
Jasper engines have been around a long time and have a good reputation. Another option is a low mileage used engine. This will be a lot less than the new Jasper. AS mentioned, the car has sat for 2 years. expect many other things to go wrong quickly due to non use. Brakes, power steering, A/C, fuel pump, transmission, tires, and other things are all parts that do not like to sit unused. it is impossible to know if $5500 is a good or bad price on the Saturn with out more info. -
Ready for my coldest ride yet.... in honor of you snow boys..
