Slow batt drain

Get a cheap digital meter. The $4 harbor Freight one is fine. Set it to measure amps. disconnect the negative battery terminal. Connect the red meter lead to the cable that you just removed from the battery. Connect the black lead to the battery Negative. Ideally the meter should read zero. Start pulling fuses one at a time until you find the one that makes the meter reading drop. That is a circuit that is drawing power. Now you can figure out what on that circuit is drawing the power. Do not forget to pull the in line fuses in any add ons. The 2nd gens have more than one location for fuses. Instead of the meter you could also use a test light in a dark area, If the bulb glows at all there is power being drawn. I let my bike sit all winter and it does not pull the battery down. -
I usually do a M&E in mid March in Milwaukee. Michigan is on the way......

LED wiring issues
Flyinfool replied to dna9656's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The LEDs that have the built in resistor are usually labeled for CAN Buss. CAN Buss monitors the amps to the bulb to be able to detect a burned out bulb. So they just build a resistor into the bulb so that the LED will draw the same current as the incandescent to fool the computer. This also totally negates and power savings from the driving light side. -
LED wiring issues
Flyinfool replied to dna9656's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
There are many that have bought the cheap LEDs on ebay. Not many people, if anyone, ended up happy with them. All LEDs are not created equal. With the rapid advances in LED technology there may be some good LEDs available on ebay, but there is still a lot of misadvertised junk still there. Most ebay adds do not give enough technical info to be able tell the good from the bad. If the LED puts out white light you very likely will not be happy with the end result. The LED color must match the lens color in order to work properly. -

I carry a stock H4 bulb as a spare to my HID. I takes no more effort or time to change out the HID vs stock or any other H4 bulb. I paid more for a premium HID and have had zero issues in 4 years.

This all started while the snow machine was still in storage. My ticker did not start running again until the snow machine was back up and running. It is clear that making snow is good for my ticker. I may have to keep it running forever.........
