This will be the last note I put on this thread! We just returned from a surprise visit to Bob in the Gravelbourg hospital. Marilyn, myself, Gord and Laura (noddy), Pete and Hazel (tessac2) all arrived at the same time and surprised the dickens out of poor BOB and Yvonne! Poor guy didnt know who to hug first or what to say! He is looking great considering what he's been through. We were delighted after seeing him at his worst moment just 4 short weeks ago. He's up and walking around, laughing and telling jokes. Wonderful! He is having eye surgery to fix his right eye Monday....they will move his lens over a bit and he should be good to go! Everything else is just healing fine. It will take time for him to get back to normal but he has all winter to do that. He indicated that he is not quit willing to give up biking just yet but may have to move to a smaller bike as he is unsure how strong he will be. He says hello to everyone and gives a thousand thank-yous to all of you for your concern and prayers and kind words. I wonder how many here believe how much you mean to him. He told me that it is time to close this thread on a positive note and that the next thing we hear will be from him. We feel he may be home by the end of the week if he listens to his doc and does his lung excersises regularly! That is a guess. So.....folks...what else can be said. Thank the Lord for everything and all of your prayers. Our friend is gonna be ok. Now there is one less prayer needed in the venture family so we can concentrate just a little longer for the others that need the support!

Marilyn has edsets and uses them with her j+m cb intercom system we just got her. There is some static but that is likely just improper cable install on the j+m system. The sound is very good she says. Got to move some cables and see if this fixes the static.

There is some evidence that this is what took BigBob down. His trailer weaved and he braked hard..didnt work out well for him. There are other factors to consider in his crash that I won't mention just yet. We are waiting for the insurance to settle first.

The first thing I learned from importing is to be honest! Do the paperwork. You will never register it in Canada if you bring it in with another plate (providing you dont get caught!). The new trailers have a VIN and thats the clincher. It is easy in the US as some states dont even require a plate for these small trailers. My camper was never plated and didnt have a VIN or a title. Got a buddy down there to buy the thing for me, title it then sell it to me. It ended up registered as home-made. That was fun and I still owe Boo a beer or two for his efforts! Remember if you buy from Canada you will pay GST and PST anyway...so keep that in mind. The only additional cost is the Registry of Import Vehicle program you must register the trailer through...around 200 bucks. Lots to think of....sometimes it is cheaper to buy at home.....but I truly havent seen it yet regarding bikes, cars or trailers of any sort!

There is one in town....I see it almost everyday. One day I will catch up to him when I am riding and we could have a chat. One thing I noticed about the bike......its the rider...he has the biggest grin I've seen since I got my RSV...so he must like the thing.

All good ideas...and maybe check and see that the fork pressures are the same for each ...no more than 7lbs. and equal.

Depending on the dates (we are going south for the International venture rally) we would love to attend this. BlackIce lives in the Okanogan valley, he can give some info about that area....he always reminds me about his longer riding year and the great roads! Remember too early in the year and those that have to cross the big hills probably wont make it.....lots of snow up there even into June sometimes.

Yeppers...condition the gas and keep the tank full. Starting for a few minutes does no good It is important for your battery to keep some sort of charge on it..either a trickle charge or hook it up once a month to get it back up. I found out last year that a new battery will get killed if left alone over the winter!

Hmmm I've brought 2 over....I had problems with both because of one small thing or another. Bringing a trailer is the same as a car or bike etc. Make sure it has a VIN. Plus if it doesnt have a title then you need a certificate from the company. On that certificate the following information must be shown VIN axle weight max tire weight when it was made There should also be a sticker on the tongue with this information. Make sure the info is the same on both the letter and the sticker. The letter must be original and on the company's letter head. A copy of the bill of sale and a copy of this letter (or title if there is one) must be sent to the US border folks 3 days prior to your return trip. They will run it so see if its stolen. There is a bit of a caveat there....the US border folks here have told me that if it doesnt have an engine then they dont care about the 3 day rules or stopping to clear the (title). They have stamped and cleared the title both times for me as a courticy(sp). You then stop at the Canadian side, let them know what you are doing when you stop, they will tell you were to park and to come inside. You will need all your original papers at that point. You will pay around 200 bucks to the Registry of Import Vehicles (RIV). You will also pay GST for the cost of the trailer unless its over 15 years old. (if it is older than 15 you dont enter the RIV and save that money too). The border folk will fill out some paperwork for you. You have to take the trailer to Canadian Tire for the compliance inspection. Before that you have to wait until you get some more paperwork from RIV. This comes in a variety of ways....email, fax, or snail mail. Once Canadian Tire is done their inspection (this is free,,,,part of the 200 RIV cost) you will get a signed copy of compliance from them. You will later get a nice sticker to put on the trailer saying it complies with Canadian vehicle rules.(you dont have to wait for the sticker before you register the thing, it can take several weeks) You take the paperwork you got from the border and Canadian Tire along with the original bill of sale and register your trailer. You are probably the same as Manitoba...when you register the thing they will then collect PST. Sounds like a pain??? It sounds worse than it really is. The real glitch with trailers is making sure that the labels are all on it....VIN, and manufactures label that says the weights and all. You could also go into the federal site and get this information but if you think my explanation is confusing....lol....wait until you read theirs! Most little trailers comply with our federal road rules. Yes I got temporary insurance from Manitoba to go and get my trailers, bikes. Just make sure you have the vehicle identification info for them. I usually got a week at a time for a couple bucks. Dont know how much it costs in Ontario or how movement insurance works for them. May I ask what the name of the trailer is? Most of them know the rules for us and are more than willing to help. The piggy backer folks were the best when the second hand trailer I bought had problems. The VIN wasnt acceptable to Canada. Piggybacker folks actually called Ottawa and went through VINs until one was found that worked. They then sent me a new VIN card. Great people and a nice little trailer. Dont be afraid to ask me more if you need to.

Progressive springs on ebay
sarges46 replied to ChurchBuilder's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I believe that part number is the correct one for the first gens though...1112...so if that counts as anything....as always on ebay...buyer beware. Got first gen progressives from Motorcycle Accessorie Warehouse for my bud for around 50 bucks. -
I dont know about the price....someone else from the US will be able to tell you its a good one or not. To me....thats pretty good! Dont worry about the shock, if it goes bad it is covered under the 5 year warranty....if you buy the bike just get the warranty transfered into your name. Also if they give you the name of the PO maybe contact him and ask if its a "screamer". The clutch can make some awfull noise in some bikes and that would require a clutch basket change if its too bad...again a warranty issue. The mileage....I wouldnt worry about as the engine is almost as good as it gets....very solid and dependable.

Deb I've got one of those mitzu whatever on my midnight. I doesnt look too bad. Seems to hold on pretty good. The light is not very bright in the day time. It only rigs one of two ways. Either on all the time or as a brake light. Mine is rigged as brake lights. This was a cheap product for me....truly I would have prefered the Yamaha one but I just couldnt afford it. -
