1. Hey all have searched this site all day and can't seem to find where I can upload new photos of 07 midnight venture, anyone point me in right direction? Thanks Brian D.
2. I just bought an 88 venture which the previous owner said only sat for a month. Well, when the bike would only run on chock, i took of the carbs to clean them. Needless to say they were interesting inside. Now that I have them cleaned out, was curious to know what I should set the sync screws at so I can at least get it started and sync them properly. Any inout is greatly appreciated.
3. Hey guys, need info/help. I'm gonna split these up in seperate threads so as to not confuse anyone (myself). #1 Other than a dealer, what would be other good places to purchase bearsings (wheel, steering, swingarm), and gaskets for my 07 Venture?
4. Moving up from a GL1500 to a Venture. Wife demands a comfy seat for touring. Gave a lot of consideration to GL1800 but I like the looks of the Venture a lot more, the lower seat, and it seems to have less problems. Been shopping a lot. Most likely will be buying a 2007 or newer. Best deal I see right now is a 2008 with 9300 miles for just under $10k. got a few questions: 1. Are there any problems specific to certain model years of the 2nd Gen design? 2. has anyone reported successful addition of an electric windshield to a Venture? (if not I'll probably be doing it and will report here.) 3. Buying used Venture still under 5 year OEM warranty is there any paperwork I should be getting with the bike? 4. how do I determine how much warranty is left? Looking forward to participating here. Already planning my 1st trip this summer to visit daughter in the USMC in N.C. Mark in MN
5. I'm looking for a comfortable helmet insert so I can utilize the RSV's intercom, radio & CB. I have a full-face Hawk helmet, my wife wears a half helmet. Thoughts? First Venture ever owned. 2001 Royal Star Venture, purchased on 30 January 2012. -Dave
6. Ok Folks I need a little help from the vast knowledge base of the VetureRiders. Bike info: 2006 Venture Midnight I want to change out my Venture handle bars and replace them with RSTD bars which I got last fall. Since the RSTD bars are a little longer and more pull back…..here is what I need to know. a)Does the upper brake line have to be longer and if yes by how much I assume that the lowers do not have to be lengthened at all, correct me if I am wrong here. b)Does the clutch master cylinder hydraulic line have to be lengthened and if yes by how much? c)Do the throttle cables have to be lengthened and if yes by how much. d)Do the electrical wires have to be lengthened and by how much? Some have made the swap before so I am looking for the wisdom of the group to do mine. Should I put all braided stainless steel brake and clutch lines on or just the standard ones? What is the bang for the buck? I thought I would do an article on the project so that it was documented for any members wanting to do it in the future. So give me your if you would. Thanks Much!
7. It was sure great to see the Midnight Venture there! It might not be New but it's still cool....and had lots of lookers and setters.....I don't know what year it came back but the bright black dash sure looks good being shiny black again....when did that happen? I think Yamaha had the biggest area there too.:Venture:I was kinda hoping they'd replace the cassette with an 8 track but nooooo!
8. Aloha, Just returned from a riding trip in Central and Southern, CA on my 2006 Venture. It appears that it's time to replace my battery on my 06 Venture. Located a discussion on the same subject back in 2006. Wondering if battery technology has changed since the 2006 posts that I should consider, especially since I've noticed replacement batteries ranging from $50 to $140. Thanks in advance for your sage advice.
9. Well I think I am finished with the V Star.........got the luggage rack and the small tour pack installed. Maybe now I can devote more time to my Venture.
10. I guess maybe I'm posting in the wrong area or just not getting my point across Last week I asked if someone could measure standard handlebar width on any Venture newer than a 1999. 58 views not one response. Today I asked about how to use a regular jack on a Venture 50+ views and no response. Would like to know if I'm posting wrong don't want to pay for this site with this kind of response. Thanks
11. If you could trade your Venture straight out even swap for a loaded Goldwing, would you?
12. I have found the new Venture that I would like to have. I can't afford it but I would love to have it... Hmmmmmm Some assembly required. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/kitspages/nuventure.php Photos
13. Seem to remember seeing a map of our active members somewhere...??? Found the: " Venture sightings" map. ????????????
14. I just bought a 1999 venture and I owned a 2000 venture a while back It seems to me the handle bars are not as wide on the 1999 as the 2000 Would someone please measure the width from handle end to end please if you have STOCK handle bars. I couldn't find a dimension in any manual
15. The first bike night of the season and the wife and I ride down for a short look around and dinner. We park the bike and start walking when we see a Pearl White RSTD and a 1st gen. Venture, so I decide to move our 07 RSTD and park it beside the White RSTD. When I got back the owners of the two bikes were there. So I parked the bike and start talking with them when I said hey there is another RSTD then the Venture owner said there was six of us there with-in 20 feet of each other all RSTD with exception of the 1st gen. Venture. I thought this was a nice showing for the Royal Star bikes, when I had a VTX we could never seem to get a group committed to getting together.
16. I am scheduled to have my right hip replaced Thursday. Venture Family keep me in your prayers. Earl
17. Ok, so I am new here to this site on the trial membership right now at least until payday to pay my $12. A fee well worth the knowledge I have already gained from you. I bought my 2006 Venture last december and have loved stacking on the miles. Unfortunately I ended up going off road with her and beat us both up pretty. Lucky for me I was wearing most of my protective gear. My Venture is in the local dealership because I didnt know where else to send her for repair. The insurance adjuster called today said they would send me a check for the repairs but I needed to call the dealership and give them consent to do the repairs. When I called the service manager said they would be in touch with "their" estimate for repair. Humm am I missing something here? I feel like they are going to give me a higher estimate than the appraisor. Does this sound right to anyone? I havent had anything like this happen with my cage repairs.
18. I took the liberty of documenting my replacement with photos & details. I think it would be a big help to Venture newbies who have never seen (much less worked on) a 1st Gen 63236.pdf
19. I am looking at purchasing a used Venture. What things should I be looking at before I put my money down? One of the bikes that I am looking at is a 2003 with 220,000 km's (136000 miles) on it, is there lots of life left in this bike?
20. I think that a more fun and fair comparison should be more apples to apples. Give your experience and opinion for your specific year. I purchased a new 80 Goldwing and love it. I did not like the other competitor’s models at all if they actually had a competitor. I think that the only competitor was the BMW and that time I think BMW was the sport touring standard. BMW just was too expensive for me; also I really did not like the BMWs lines. Just one complaint and that is the 80 Goldwings cornering capabilities. I’m no hot dog but one main fun part of motorcycling was cornering. The cornering ability of the 80 Goldwing caught me my surprised, after the purchase. The 80 Goldwing was my 1st Honda for previously I owned a small 1969 90cc Kawasaki then a 1974 Yamaha TX500 then a 1974 Yamaha YZ125. So I did not have a Honda preference. I sold my 80 Goldwing for raising a family. 27 years later I got the Touring Bike itch with some nostalgic feelings. I wanted my 80 Goldwing back for nostalgic reasons and wanted to own a collectable. It was kind of like wanting to have your 57 Chev back. I found some beautiful 80 Goldwings, however in my search, the Yamaha Venture surfaced. I recalled in 83 when the Venture was introduced and Wow I wanted one even though I was selling my 80 Goldwing. I toss and turned between the 80’s Goldwing and the Venture MKI or MKII. Did a lot of soul searching and settled on the MKII. Like make vehicles history the design goes through some ugly years. Like the Mustang, some of the Mustang’s years were butt ugly. The Goldwing outwardly design changed a lot between 1980 and 1993 and I did not like most of those years design. I’m limiting to 1980 thru 1993 for my purchased, for the MKI and MKII looks are really similar, and in my pocket books range. The MKII got most of the points. I personally liked its design better than the Goldwings, but the Goldwings reverse weighted in very heavily. Then the Goldwings cornering ability came into play. Venture was more top heavy, The engine size really was not a factor for the 80 Wings 1100cc was plenty for me. I would have given the MKI more consideration but the famous 2nd rear issue really done it in. Also the Goldwings seems to be in general more expensive than the Venture in similar condition. Oh I also did like the Wings plastic for the sole purpose when cleaning the bike, But then the plastics took away from the motorcycle looks. So would I prefer my 89 Venture to a Goldwing up to 1993. The Venture won. Now today if I were to buy a new bike and I could afford it. The choice would be between the BMW and the Goldwing and without any test drives yet I’m leaning to the Goldwing. Maybe I should just ride into the BMW and Honda dealer for a test drive. Then maybe I better not, For what I don’t know and experience won’t hurt me. Todays Venture would not even be in the selection. I’ve heard many talk about the riding comfort. I’ve never really had an issue with comfort for I seem to adapt to the Bikes configuration. So there, you have my apple to apple comparision. What is your apple to apple comparision?
21. I recently picked up 2 identical gold Venture 1200's for $1000. I was pretty excited with my purchase since only 1 thing that was wrong really caught my eye. Neither of them have the cruise control like my 85 1200 did. I was wondering if it would be possible to get the necessary parts from a newer venture, or even buy the royale star venture cruise to modify to work for my bike. I have a spare wiring harness that was designed for the CB but i do not know if it has the correct plug for the cruise control. Any information or if anyone has done this and could lend me some advice would be much appreciated!!! Thank you! -CJ
22. There is a Yama Venture Line backrest on eBay, if anyone is interested. Not sure of the condition, as the pics are not very good and description is lacking. Item number is 330665933646. Jim
23. I sold my 85 Venture Royale with the two tone brown paint about 2 years ago, and basically completely quit using the site. Well im back in the Venture saddle again Im purchasing 2 identical 2 tone gold 83 Royales. I purchased both with a total price of $1000!!! One has 65,000 miles and the other has 28,000. The one with 28k doesnt drive because the carburator is plugged, and I intend to ride the one with 65K home. I believe i came across a great deal. The one with more miles needs a speedometer cable and 2nd gear is out of it, which i intend to repair. It also has a bad rear master cylinder. It has the Radio deck and CB with the electronic air shocks, but the back one you have to pump up with a compressor. The one with less miles needs a few pieces to put back together, a carb rebuild (which i intend to do). I will also replace the 2nd gear clip in this transmission too, before it can go bad. It also needs a rear master cylinder and a rear tire. Neither of these bikes has cruise, which I intend to fix. But i plan on putting the better of the two parts onto one bike with less miles and have 1 really nice venture, and the other a "bad weather venture" or sell it for more than what i bought both bikes for. I have a few pictures of the bikes, if anyone wants to see.
24. Well, my Twins left today for their new adoptive home in Oklahoma. It was a trade off...the Twins or a Venture. Picked the Venture ( and the right choice of a 1st Genner). Still sad to see the girls go. They were a different type of fun. But time to move on to bigger and better things....
