  2. Hi, Does anyone have a set of mounting brackets for the VenturLine Rider's Back Rest for an '86 to '93 VR? Thanks
  3. looking for recommendations for tire pressure for the following set up Royal Star Venture Nexxan Car Tire on Rear Wheel Side Car setup Anyone with similar set up please respond
  4. Ok, I've been gathering parts for my R1 upgrade for my '84 for a while. Got the calipers a while back and a set of MKII rotors have been hanging on the wall for a while. I had bought a set of MKII forks during the summer and they were in such bad shape I scrapped them. The PO, before they were listed on eBay had beat the daylights out of the lowers and scarred the upper so bad it destroyed any chance of ever getting a seal to seat again. So this is where I'm confused today. I bought another set of forks off eBay listed as off an '87. The pics looked ok and all the parts seemed to be there. But, when they arrived today I took them down to clean them up and strip them down I noticed they were different from the last set I bought. The anti-dives (electric) mount on the front of the fork, not the side like the MKII pics I have seen from you guys in the past. Then what caught my attention was that there was no cinch bolt on the one side. The outer section is threaded for the axle with the shoulder for the axle to ride on in the inner section. Did I miss something somewhere? I thought the axles were the same of both MKI & MKII. But the AD's on the front threw me. Does the MKI axle thread into the lower or am I going to need a different axle? The flanges for the R1's line up fine. Every thing else looks like it should. So tell me what I am looking at. Mike

    top of saddlebag rails

Anyone know where the rails that help protect the top of the saddlebags can be obtained. There was a set on ebay a few days ago but they disappeared.
  6. Well I seem to be down to the small things the make me twitch My 84 has a the digital lcd clock in the cluster. It works, no buttons are stuck. I am able to set the time with no problem. I have power when I shut the key off & short term she seems to be keeping time. I set it two days ago to match the clock on my GPS which is also the same time as my Honda750. Today I happened to look at it and it is 3 hours faster that the GPS & the Honda, which are still in sync. Is there something I should check to fix this or is it basically useless?
  7. Anyone here try to straighten one of these out? Was doing some cleaning this PM and had the bike in a position that caused it to fall to the right (as I set on it)...Top of Bar is bent Upwards...Repair, Replace Thoughts please... Long Tall Lynchburg, VA
  8. started working on the Trike today. weather was in the high 40's today so I figured what the heck. Wasn't to bad in the garage. I moved the trunk back, it was really easy Took the 6 hold down bolts out, move it to the rear bolt holes, retightened. Took about 15 minutes. I have the same set up for the trunk as the 2 wheel version RSV. Then I figured since the weather is still pretty good I might as well change out the muffler. This took the rest of the day. Went from a set of noisy Sampson fish tails to a very nice sounding set of 05 RK's. A lot quietier, but still has a nice low rumble and a good bark when you get on it. My neighbors must have thought I was nuts, cause by the time I finished the install the weather went to heck. Temp dropped into the 30's with snow flurries, but there I was, riding up an down the road making noise. Sure felt good, even if it was for only a couple of minutes.
  9. We are brand new to the RSV. We took one out for a test ride at a dealer's and I know it was more cushiony than ours is. Ours is a 2006 RSV. It has the stock seats, which are nice to us (compared to our cruiser Mustang seats, which weren't nearly as nice) but I find the ride a bit rough. On the one we took for a ride, he hit the bumps and I barely felt it in my back. Can someone please tell me how to adjust the air to make the ride softer for the passenger? We are getting the manual but don't have it yet and I have no idea how to read what it's set at, where it should be set, what's better, higher pressure or lower pressure, etc. I want as soft a ride as possible for my back's sake. Hubby and I aren't light so I want to be sure we don't hurt the bike, either. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
  10. Hey All, I have a question about the 4' flourescent type fixtures that many put up in the garage, I am looking for a good quality reasonably priced set up...can you help a brother out??
  11. Discovered a slash on my left front tire on my SUV. It started leaking air as I arrived at work last night.Truck needed tires soon anyway so I went to the tire dealer. I had looked up the price online and set my appt there as well. Over 600 bucks. When I got the bill it was under 500 bucks with a mail in rebate as well. Took me a minute but I realized then that they pro rated my old set. That saved me over 100 bucks. It was a pleasent surprise.... Next week, the car!!!!
  12. I have not had good luck searching the 1st gen tech area on setting the carbs on my '86. I have done them, in the past, like the manual states. Frankly this is a PITA as you have to assemble and pull apart the carbs till the tube fill line is where it states it should be on the center. The G2's are WAY easier to set as there is a measurement where to set them. My question is to any of the 1st genners, have any of you come up with a measurement that can be used to set the floats, like on a G2? If I can't get a response in a day or so I'll be doing it the manual way, but if there is an easier way to set these things....I'm all ears!

  15. I remember Bongobob telling me that they were rare. I guess that was an understatement! I thought about it but it wasn't worth it to me. Maybe because my bike already has the chrome vents and I was thinking that this might be good for a back up set. Oddly enough two different sets showed up on Ebay at the same time. The other set was pretty banged up. http://www.ebay.com/itm/230728628260?ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1435.l2649

    Keys

I traded my 03 for a new 09, and got 5 keys after I got home 1 key worked the ignition and trunk and 1 set works with one set of bags the other set work with the other bag. So I called the dealer and talked to salesman he said to stop in and talk to him and he will get me a nother key for ignition, stoped in and salesman is with someone so I walked over to parts dept. They said they can't help only the salesman can get me a key, or charge me $10 for a key. So after 1/2 hour salesman makes a key. I know they would never do this at a Harley dealer. My 03 had the same key for everthing, do most of you you have the same key for ignition and bags?
  17. I'm planning a trip this summer about 6 -7000 km, and with motels averaging $100/night, I think it will be cheaper to overnight at camp grounds ($23-$35/night). Now my question is; what would be a good tent to get, something quick to set up and tear down. And being 6'2" not to cramped. Thanks for any suggetions. Markus
  18. Good News After getting approval from the boss (Freebird) I called Jaybird ( the pin-striper) and he's got this year's MD on his schedule. He said he would come up and be ready to 'paint' on Friday and Saturday. He will again set up his canopy by the willow tree so bring your ideas and be ready to see some GREAT work done while you watch.
  19. Almost since I've had the '99 RSV when I hit a hard bump, the cruise would drop out and the yellow RES light would be on. I suppose this is the clutch or brake lever switches causing it. When that happened all that was necessary was to push the RESUME button to resume the set speed. Today another symptom has shown up. Now when I hit a bump, not only does the cruise drop out, but now the yellow RES and the green SET light come on together and the blue ON light goes out. A second or two later the green and yellow lights go out and the blue one comes back on. Then the process repeats. Pushing CANCEL, SET or RESUME has no effect. I have to turn the system off and back on to get it to function again. Next bump REPEAT....
  20. Looking for a set of stock handlebars from a 99-11 RSV. Does anyone have a set laying around after a Flanders conversion they would like to get rid of?
  21. Could anyone email me installation instructions they received with Ponch's Gauge Set, preferably the setup with the Tach ?? Thanks, Mike
  22. Plane leaves CAK at 3:05 this afternoon and we'll be in Melbourne Australia Thursday AM. The longest flight will be from LAX to Melbourne (about 15 hours) We have an itinerary set up which will have us doing anything we want to do Bottom line ? really feel bad for Big Tom and his sn-- NOT
  23. I bought a new set of E3's from Jake Wilson a few weeks back and finally installed them. The difference is amazing. I didn't realize just how bad my bike was handling. When I bought the bike in February of 2010 it had 34,000 miles and I had no idea how many miles were on the tires but they were in great shape. I put 12,000 more miles on them before I decided it was time for a new set. Riding in Florida, most of the riding is flat so the center of the tire wears much faster. That makes turning gradually require more effort. It happens so slowly that until I had new tires I didn't even notice. I now understand why there is a "recommended" break in period to scuff the tires in and get used to how the handleing has changed. Up until now I had only drug the floorboards twice. Can you say "pucker factor" when you don't expect it. Now (after 200 miles) I have drug the boards several time without feeling like I was about to lay the bike down. The grip and control is exceptional with the new tires. Parking lot manuvers are also much easier. I'm only 5' 10" and always felt the size of the bike. Now the bike feels much smaller. I don't think I'll let this set get as worn as the last set before I replace them. I love the feel of new tires in the morning.
  24. Just an FYI, I bought a set of Shinko 230 tourmasters from Bikebandit today for $119 delivered to my door. That is with free shipping and 10% discount for being an AMA member. They are even throwing in a free set of Motion Pro tire irons. Seemed like a pretty good deal.
  25. OK folks, it is time for me to start rebuilding our Rally Countdown page with the dates for our 2012 events. Please take a look at the events listed at: http://www.venturerider.org/rally/ Let me know if you hosted an event and will do it again in 2012 and what the dates are if you have set them. At this time, I have dates for the International Rally, Marcarl's meet and I've almost set the date for my Maintenance Day. I need your input on all the others and also any new ones.
