  1. Hi All, Received my Barons Ultimate Light Bar recently. Amazing quality, very happy. Just went to fit it only to find no wiring in the harness for driving lights! Barons spell it out in the instructions that there should be a blue wire for the left and right driving lights as well as the the two left and right turn signals. Turn signal cabling is fine. Nothing to be seen for the driving lights! I have checked the loom in case it just wasnt run into the original light bar and nothing! I can only assume its something to do with Australian compliance laws as I cannot imagine they would leave them out for any other reason. Not sure what people buying the Genuine Yamaha lightbar thought when they went to fit them also. Now i will have to run a feed directly from the battery via a relay. Its just extra hassle i didnt want. I just thought it was very bizzare. Any other Aussie riders out there who have found the same issue?
  2. Jim has been nice enough to give me the part number for the disk brakes on the rear of the trike. In the past most of us started out with Brembo's and they kind of wear fast They say now that they have had better luck with the EBC FA266 HH pads and can be purchased at local motorcycle dealers. I found that they will run from 25 all the way to 36 bucks. (for two) I did some research today and found them at Amazon for $33 a set free shipping. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dautomotive&field-keywords=EBC+Brakes+FA266+HH Shipped from Power Sports
  3. Anybody planning on going to the Moonshine (IL) lunch run this year?? http://moonshine-run.com/Moonshine/ Frank D.
  4. sad: to say i might have to sell the 1984 royal. im still fighting a workers comp case. and i still owe$2500 on the car. to have it paid in full. i know the bike wont bring in that much? it does run but like allways it needs some TLC. i have put $$ into it. and im sure a good paint job and some tunning will bring this bike back to its glory days. when the weather gets better. i will go out and uncover it and snap some pics. i know pics can make it look nice. and seeing as ones on this site have not rode it? they still might give a good offer for it? EUSA1 mike did a small run on it when he was kind enough to help me get it to my place and out of storage. he might be able to give a fair opion on the bike should he be so inclined to do so? if i should settle my workers comp cliam this summer i would be in the market for another one. now i want people to understand i am not asking in any way for help again to save the bike and keep the car? you all work hard for your money. yes i would like to keep it. but i need my car. thats an all around transportaion. as the bike is not. like i said when i get time to take pictures i shall post them. thank you all sincerly james aka oldgoat.
  5. Here's my problem,,, I know, I got lots but this one has me stumped. My son bought a 82 Honda XL80s for my grandson. It was running and they did run it around the back yard a few times, but then it quit. So dad to the rescue. I've been working on this thing for 4 weeks now, and it just won't run, not even give me a burp. That said, I did have it running at one point, but the slowest it would go was about 3000 rpm, so I shut it down and since then, nothing. History. When I brought it to my garage I found the stator flywheel loose and the key sheared off. replaced the key, points, condenser, cleaned the flywheel, (took all magnets out and re-glued them) cleaned the carb, tried 3 different coils, but seem to get an inconsistent spark at best. Got about 90 lbs compression with 3 kicks on the starter, 120lbs with a shot of oil in the cylinder. Tried WD 40 to help it fire and then even some ether, but no fire period. I need some fresh ideas.
  6. My mustang got in a little wreck and I found a 92 trans am for 340 bucks. I bought it before even looking at the odomoter. I got going down the road and i looked down and saw it only had 113xxx miles on it. But anyways back to my question, I want to put a 350 LT1 fuel injected motor into it, can i still run the tranny that's in it now?
  7. Anyone ever run a Vredestein?? http://www.ebay.com/itm/165-15-165-80-15-VREDESTEIN-SNOW-SNOW-TIRES-/300651135390?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item460034419e http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?VISuperSize&item=300651135390 Looks like it would make a pretty good bike tire... it's a little rounder than most... i coulda used the studs a couple of years ago... LOL
  8. Decided to give both my seafoamed VRs a mid winter start. Both started up just fine. Going to let them run for about 15 minutes.
  9. This might be the most absurd reason to go light on a sentence. To "momentarily stop" before taking off is still hit and run, and because she was not drunk. Murder is murder, http://www.bikerspost.com/forum/topics/mom-gets-60-days-for-fatal-hit-run
  10. My ride is a 92 Yamaha venture , old plastic bike a bit rough around the edges, but I like the way it rides. It was treated pretty roughly in its life I think and some of the plastic was a bit rough and it was missing all of the amenities because it was a police bike. Picked up a parts bike for $500 this weekend.. that all the electronics are present on, lots of extra amenities, like drivers backrest, trailer hitch, etc.. Wasn't supposed to run, but it is running. Would only run on choke at 1st , but after a can of sea foam it is getting better slowly but surely, no idea of the shape of the carbs / carb diaphragms. I am sure the carbs need cleaning. Sat up for a long time I think , the clutch and brakes need to be rebuilt, It has zero clutch right now. But this bike wasn't supposed to work really ,so this is all a bonus I think I am still going with my original plan though and use the parts from it to fix mine up, but man, I'm pleased as punch to find another one for a good deal.. I didn't have a radio, cb, intercom stuff or any of that. http://www.haveparrotwilltravel.com/gallery2/albums/userpics/%21033.jpg
  11. After having my carbs of for the second time I finally noticed that three of my pilot jets were completly stopped up. After much work I managed to clear them out. I got my carbs back on the motorcycle Saturday morning. After a few minutes of cranking, it finally cranked up. This time it was actually running on all four cylinders. Before it was only hitting on one. Since the bike had sat for a very long time you can imagine what my shop looked like. I couldn't even see for the smoke. I shut it down and went to town and got oil and filter and came back and changed the oil. I started it again and let it run for about 15 minutes and smooth out some as well as burn off all the oil on the engine and pipes. Hearing it crank and run was one of the sweetest things I've heard in a long time. I said all that to get to my question. It seems to be running fairly smooth and the throtle responds good but it is idleing at 3000 rpm and I can't get it to come down. The idle screw is backed all the way out. Does anyone know what the problem might be?
  12. Hi Just wanted to say a big thanks to Starstruck for adding to our recent holiday in Wyoming. It was great to spend lunch at the Irma in Cody with a fellow Venture rider and talk about where to go and what to see. It really made a difference to get some local knowledge. Those roads across the plain from Grand Teton to Laramie are awesome. Although we were in a can, we picked up some great riding roads like the switchbacks up to Dinosaur Ridge behind Golden in Colorado or the run up to Estes Park. You guys are very lucky to have a country to run in like that right on the back door. We've had five holidays in the States and each one has been FAB. The wife's even thinking about hiring a bike for the next one! Trouble is i can't read the speedo's on the new Harley's and that and BM's seem to be the only things out for hire. Thanks once again
  13. Ok, so my wife has been experimenting with baking. She has some how come by a reciepe for a cheese cake that is great ( sorry none left). Now I am not saying it is going to give Lonna a run for her money, but it sure does a fine job of easing the pain of having to loose all those yummy cheese cakes to them there Texans
  14. Well, I went to my first "Slimey Crud Run". It's a motorcycle rally that takes place just west of Madison, goes from Pine Bluff to Leland, WI. Lots of different bikes, from old to new, show ready to barely running, Brit, American, Asian, and the people to match them. I saw some 2nd gen Ventures, but only saw a couple of 1st gen ones. Unfortunately, mine wasn't there. I fixed the shifter cam issue, but since it had been "abandoned" for several months, I couldn't get it running in time to go, so I took my other bike, a 650 Maxim that I've had for 18 years. Yes, it is green. -Andrew
  15. was wondering if anyone has replaced their grips with aftermarket. the only ones i have found are by Avon, and run about 50.00. has anybody tried these? what size are the bars? http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/1/0/6/0/0/8/6/webimg/387609976_tp.jpg
  16. At 25,000 miles I bought new plugs for my 04 RSV, put them in the bike and went on about my way, ofcourse the bike did not seem to run any better. Well last weekend me and Deanna my daughter were going to ride to St Simons on Sat. so friday night with 31000 miles on the RSV I took the plugs out of the truck and actually put them in the motor. Bike ran much better then. We also found the right frount plug wire was not push down on the plug all the way You know these thing run pretty good on 3 cyls. and very smooth on all 4. 46.5 mpg on the trip, running between 65 and 70 mph. On the way back DeAnna's 06 v-star 1100, dropped the frount cyl, came home on the back cyl. wide open 55 mph. found the 1100 v-star have fuel shut-off valve like lawn mower to shut the fuel off to the needle valve in the carb. frount failed.
  17. the roads in illinois can be hard on things, especialy when the pavement buckles and your doing 60mph when you run into it.
  18. Any one from Anaheim, Fullerton, Brea, Yorba Linda, or Placentia, California area remember Fairway Yamaha? Bought my '84 Venture Royale there, then they went out of business around '86 or '87. If I remember correctly, I paid $6,800 for it. Rode it until 2004. I still have the license plate bracket, but it doesn't look right on my Wing. Just went through a bunch of stuff looking for a souvenier shirt from the Barstow to Vegas run Thanksgiving weekend 1985. Could not find it, guess it must have shrunk to the point it's too small. I do have the patch and pin from the ride. Had a buddy from Ohio come out on a '85 Gold Wing and we did that run together. Of course he was upset that I could out-quick, out-speed, out-handle him, and get about 2 miles per gallon better mileage. Yes, those were the days, my friends. My buddy died last summer, had not seen him or communicated for years. Lost opportunities. Only motorcycling can invoke this kind of memory and now cause one to reflect and vow to try to make the most out of the days we have yet remaining. Mel
  19. Anyone in the Central Florida area interested try to join the poker run for this little girl and her family Thanks in advance
  20. Finally decided that I was going to the Davis Rally in New Hampton IA. :dancefool: Just going down early Saturday morning and headed back Sunday afternoon. Maybe these guys aren't as rowdy as that PIP bunch! I hope I don't run into any new traditions from the east coast. :whistling: Bongobob did go home..... didn't he????? :moon:
  21. My 83 will not run with the sidestand down with the bike in neutral with clutch out. If I pull the clutch in just a little bit, it will run. It acts this way with two different CMS's and sidestand switches. When I put it in neutral, the light comes on as it is supposed to, so it appears it is getting power through the shifting mechanism. Any suggestions? RandyA
  22. I've just encountered a possible problem with my 2005 Sea Doo RXP. It has only 59.6 hours on it. I bought new back in 05 and have never had a problem with it. I run it almost completely out of gas and engine mist it every year before storing. Being busy this year didn't get a chance to ride but figured I'd better start it. Added 1 can of sea foam to approx 1/2 gal of gas to clean fuel system and let run for 2 min. Then added 2 gal of fresh gas... wouldn't start, so i depressed throttle and thats when I heard a loud bang??? sounded like an inner tube exploding Smoke is coming out from under seat? Took plastic topper off and dip stick removed spark plugs cleaned with wire brush and carb cleaner dryed out using map gas tourch, coated threads with antioxidant. Before installing plugs placed my palm over holes and had compression. Reinstalled plugs and it started up (i shut down after 10 seconds) as i was afraid something was wrong with all the smoke coming from the engine compartment... Can see no oil or coolant in hull of ski and the dipstick has clear oil on it? Cant find the source of the smoke and don't want to run it like that... Any thoughts would be appreciated... Thanks in advance, Joe Thinking about tearing her apart and inspecting the Superchargers ceramic washers. May also find the source of smoke when I do? Will also take front oil pump off and check impeller and screens for debris... Until today, I never knew you should replace creamic swashers on the supercharger with metal ones... not having very good luck with engines...
  23. wHAT SPEED do you run your trike in 5th gear? It seems like mine will run 45 in 5th without problem.IT WOULDN'T do it on two wheels.Does anyone think it would get better gas mileage if I woul run it in a lower gear
  24. Sailor

    toy run

That time of year again. Gearing up for the annual toy run. I am Santa again and leading the run. For anyone interested google Saltspring toy run for info. We have camping, games, beer garden, etc. Lamb roast and music by Auntie Kate. We raised a lot for underprivliged kids last year and this year is looking even better. Sept 3rd is the run. Got groups coming on the 2nd for camping and staying until the 4th.
  25. I finally got to ride the scooter today, actually took it around a few blocks Thursday to check it out. Somewhat rushed getting it together so I could ride with my cousins and other friends to a bike show at a HD dealer near here. Didn't know they were going to have a dyno setup, for free none the less. I really wasn't ready for a dyno run yet, but the price was right. I haven't synced carbs on bike, mixture screws are close & the TCI still needs dialed in, but I went for it, how embarrassing could it be in front of a 100 HD riders. Was a slight problem hooking dyno up to bike. I don't have plug wires anymore so they couldn't hook tach sensor in. I went to Coil Over Plugs this winter. Without the VBoost activated it hit 97 RWHP, that sucks, last year I had 96 RWHP. Activated the VBoost and it hit 108.96 RWHP. That's 11 more HP with pressing a button. I think with tuning and getting it dialed in 120RWHP is doable. I have located a guy that will bring me into his shop & work with me on setting jetting and fine tuning this thing on a dyno for a reasonable rate. I am close to that point. Didn't get a print out of the dyno, they didn't have a printer set up. I got a mostly unreadable cell phone picture of screen, my cousin is going to email me his attempts at picture when he gets home. At least I didn't embarrass myself totally. My cousin said some of the HD guys were in disbelieve of the numbers. Also, got caught in a hail storm while we where out. Dove for cover in a strip mall under a over hanging store front. Gary
