  1. I think this is pretty slick ! BEER30
  2. Hello all, Sorry it's been awhile since I've checked in. Between the Weather out here [WA] and the Holidays in general...well, I've been just down right busy. anyway, here's my winter project for Trigger. I was able to pick up the Harley batwing fairing off of ebay. it did come with some nice mounts, but unfortunately and evidently, the Heritage and the RS forks are not quite set up the same...so I went about creating my own. I started off by making a cardboard template, which i then transfered to wood. This worked out pretty good actually, the 1/4" plywood is soft enough and easy enough to work with, yet strong enough to hold the fairing. Once i got the wood templates aligned to my liking, i then used them, to create the soon to be perminate mounts out of aluminum angle iron. The harder part is going to be in the finializing of the lower fairing mounts. I was able to bend up a couple of pieces of scrap aluminum flat bar...but it's just not all that pretty. Which brings me to the latter steps of "paint". All black or two tone to match Trigger's current color scheme. As always any thought and suggests would be greatly appreciated. OH...one more thing. [As i climb onto my soap box] This is absolutely, the best place for "free" help and information in regards to our two wheeled loved ones. Please consider making a small donation to this site. I know it's appreciated by those that run it and those of us that use it. Thx Ron. and now for the pix.... http://home.centurytel.net/malizia/RS/BatWingPics/20081121-001sm.jpghttp://home.centurytel.net/malizia/RS/BatWingPics/20081121-002sm.jpg http://home.centurytel.net/malizia/RS/BatWingPics/20081121-013sm.jpg http://home.centurytel.net/malizia/RS/BatWingPics/20081121-020sm.jpg http://home.centurytel.net/malizia/RS/BatWingPics/20081121-022sm.jpg http://home.centurytel.net/malizia/RS/BatWingPics/20081130-Front.jpg http://home.centurytel.net/malizia/RS/BatWingPics/20081130-Mount.jpg http://home.centurytel.net/malizia/RS/BatWingPics/20081204-Left.jpg
  3. A lot of nice aftermarket stuff on this one, Gary. More in your area and so far pretty darn cheap!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150317912515&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&viewitem=:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:
  4. seen this on another forum and thought it was pretty close to home!! http://creativity-online.com/work/view?seed=5e32d548
  5. Hello all, Wow, these bikes are amazing, they run so well on 3 cylinders, you hardly know one is fouled. It seems that I keep fouling one of my plugs, when I take it out it is wet, then I put a new one in and it runs real well for a while. I have gotten pretty good at touching the exhaust pipes shortly after start up to see if they are all warm. So what is the most likely source of this fouling do you think? D
  6. I was talking to a Honda Kawasaki dealer in Rockingham NC yesterday, trying to get an idea on a price for the new voyager. Liz and I are still trying to decide between a new wing, venture or voyager. The guy told me that as of yet they don't have any more info on them than what we've already seen posted here. He also told me that the way kawasaki is acting it looks like the voyager will be released as an early 2010 model. So that pretty much puts it out of the running for me. If the dealer doesn't know anything about them, then it's pretty much out as far as we're concerned.. Also I don't know what it means, but Honda corp sent me a form to fill out concerning what went down at the store in alcoa.
  7. Eck sent these to me a few days ago and I think they are pretty cool. Some people are just very creative.
  8. anybody know a good v-star tech site, so far the ones I've found seem pretty excited to be able to change their own oil. My buddy's 1100 got some serious elec issues. I think we might have to replace the enitre main wiring harness but that sounds pretty spendy so were trying to pin out each cable. need a better wiring digram for the cables themselves.
  9. looks like IKE is gonna shut my power off pretty soon. i'll see ya'll when i get power restored! just jt
  10. Who out there has a Smoker and uses it? I just got mine a few weeks ago and I'm still in the learning stages. I did smoke a pretty darn good chicken last week. I am open for tips, ideas and secrets.
  11. Evidently the cops chased this guy and he tried to jump the draw bridge while it was opening. Not too bright. Here's the story. I thought it was pretty funny. I guess he watched too many movies where this worked. http://www.wavy.com/global/story.asp?s=8978726&srvc=leadstory Margaret
  12. We figured since we had a long weekend that we would go camping at a local state park campground. Got there Friday evening after the little one got out of school. Everything was fine for those few shorts hour friday. Saturday we get up and all is well and later in the evening Cindy tells me I have to cook. No big deal. She goes in the camper and gets the burgers and brings them out for me and slips in some gravel and we end up in the ER. She got 15 stitches in her knee. Looked pretty nasty. Haylie stood right there and watched the doctor do the whole thing. Cindy is feeling pretty sore today. She called it an early night and went to bed. Its gonna get better around this house sooner or later............hope its alot sooner then later. Dale
  13. I may have the chance to get a very sentimental 2007 Midnight Venture for around $8k. If I do I will be selling my '89. She had 104k on her but still a great running and looking bike. No where near the part out stage of life. The '07 has pretty minimal mileage (I don't know the exact number) Two questions, is $8k a good price and what is the '89 worth? Nothing is certain right now but I want to ask this group for opinions.
  14. Looking for some input on driver seat, longer trip comfort. I did about 450 miles today and while I find the riding position very comfortable (Baron's Risers are terrific) the last 100 miles are pretty rough. I stopped a few times for drinks/gas but getting back on can be pretty uncomfortable especially after I've been in the upright position for a couple of hours. I wear heavy denim jeans and the most discomfort I experience is on my upper hamstrings, almost like they are worn raw. Today was pretty mild temp wise but if it was the normal 90+ degree day and I was sweating like a fire hydrant I would have wanted to walk home. I've read more than a few posts where RSV riders say it is the most comfortable bike they've ridden and doing an all day trip is not too hard on them comfort wise so I guess I'm looking for tips on improving my comfort. I like to get out there and ride until the cows come home but feeling uncomfortble on a long trip is not much fun. Is there a much more comfortable after market seat, are leathers/textile pants more comfortable, how bout a driver's back rest, worth it? Thanks for any input.
  15. Looking for slip on exhaust for my 2006 RSTD. Does not seem to be many available for this model. Looks like BUB and maybe Sampson are my only options. Are there any more Manufacturers out there? I did run into a guy whose Venture sounded pretty good who said he pulled off the ends, drilled some holes. Any ideas?
  16. Anybody replace a front motor mount on a 97 Sebring convertible? I need the quick way to get it done so's I can go to Squids next weekend instead of dealin' with this!!!!!! BTW, crossover exhaust pipe nuts look pretty frozen, don't want to get into that situation!!!!! Any suggestions are 'preciated!!!! Gonna go eat dinner and look at repliess when I get done. Thanks in advance, Dan
  17. I know this is pretty short notice, but I am going to tune my carbs on Saturday. If any of you want to come to Borger let me know and I will make plans.
  18. Lucky for me, it was the first time I drove my truck to work in over a month. I got rear-ended by a young girl in a car. All it did was knock the paint off of my trailer hitch. Her car sustained some pretty good damage in the front. All I could think of was how lucky I was to not be on the bike today. Be careful out there.
  19. Thanks to this forum I have repaired the E4 code problem but I think the Rear spring and or Shock are toast. It holds air ok and rises when inflated but bottoms out pretty hard especially with two up. Rate adjuster doesnt seem to do anything either. Is there an aftermarket replacement?? Viperpash
  20. My husband and I were in Fayetteville, Ohio over the weekend. We saw this really nice Gold Wing Trike. There was a whole group of GW riders. We thought it was pretty unique.
  21. Here are a few pics. I've got the Road Sofa torn down. I had to take the fairing brace off, in the last wreck, at the Dragon, I bent the left mirror mount.....this time it was the right side. Last time I replaced the fairing mount. I decided to use the old brace and the replacement to come up with one. After some careful measuring and cutting, we welded it back together. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1386.jpg Welded and time for some grinding. You don't need to weld pretty, you just need to grind pretty! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1387.jpg I'm only worried with the area that needs to fit the plastic cover. It's all behind plastic. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1388.jpg A little black paint works wonders! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1389.jpg It's ugly naked, but the lines are nice! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1379.jpg I can see making a custom out of it! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1380.jpg OK, I'll move down because the next few pics are of my road rash. Not bad, but if you're queezy, you might stop here! . . . . .. . . . . . . . . This stings a little! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1381.jpg This hurts to bend! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1382.jpg There might be a scar involved here! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/100_1383.jpg Hey! I warned ya!

    Rear Shock

Just got back from the Smoke Out 9 in N. Carolina. I know I read somewhere here that rear shocks will not bottom out? We hit a few dips on I-85 coming home, and with the bike packed and the OL and I, I swear it bottomed out twice, hard! Parked the bike in the garage after the 400 mile trip home and I have a pretty good wet spot right under the rear, lower shock mount? Called Yamastealer and they want $485.00 just for the shock. Anyone know of a less expensive option? thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. Ran across a guy on a Goldwing with a windshield wiper. I asked him if it scratched his windshield and he said it had a little bit, but not much. He said it worked pretty good. RandyA
