  2. He was one of the riders in The Poker Run .......ITS LOUD !!! The organizers placed him in Back pf the Pack
  3. So as you might know I just got my 03 RSV and it now has stock exhaust I wanted to get it a bit louder but not real loud. Has anyone do any type mod to there exhaust. I got a pair of Sampsom Fishtails with the bike but was told they are LOUD!!!!
  4. So I'm getting ready to buy my first Yamaha Royal Star Venture the guy has some Sampson Fishtail Mufflers and a Yamaha short windshield that he wants to sell me also. He wants $250.00 for everything my question is how loud are they? I don't really want something to loud to interferer with hearing the radio and intercom? Let me hears some input on this please and is it a good deal for the money? Thanks
  5. At what point is a deceleration rumble called a backfire. When riding in the GA mountains, I had one or two definite (loud) backfires, but in normal riding the low rumble sounds like little backfires (good sound). Is the rumble I'm describing normal? If I hadn't had those loud backfires, I wouldn't even ask. The bike has 3000 miles and I've asked them to check the carb sync once since the first service (of course they said all was good). Any comments appreciated!
  6. What is the possibility of using a 2nd fuel petcock on a 2nd Gen to get full utilization of that big old gas tank? Boomer.....who's thinking out loud here.
  7. I Hope this isn't a strange request. I'm looking for a set of mufflers off a first gen bike, I don't need the collector box or headers just the mufflers. I want to put them on my XS1100 sidecar rig. The megaphone on it are eaten through and loud as hell. Very uncomfortable to ride so loud because the sound reverbs off the sidecar body making it worst, I like the look and sound of the oem cans and would like to put a set on the 11. if anyone has a set that they've taken off and have lying around I'd be glad to negotiate a price for them. Please let me know aand contact me here. thanks guys Phil.
  8. My new Steibel horn that is. Just had it installed and I can't believe how loud it is. Should get someones attention now.

  10. Riders, I know this topic has been beaten to death but I need to know "from the last related posting" what is the majority of members using for after market mufflers I don't have the metel knowledge to make mods that installing the "road king" mufflers would take.. I don't want LOUD, but I do want that deep rumble sound that will let cagers know I'm there.. Bubs ? " Do the sleepers still have the crome tip issue? Kromeworks ? etc etc Help a fellow rider out 06 RSTD THanks
  11. Well hello to everyone! It has been awhile since being on the site. Those of you don't remember me, I was the reason for everyone using earplugs at Vogel!! LOL! Yes the loud pipes are finally gone, and after two years without a bike, Eck has convinced me that I was old enough" ha ha" for a different kind of motorcycle! Seriously, I rode his new goldwing and was instantly "sold" , so I had to have one! I will be at Vogel this year and am looking very forward to seeing everyone I remember and meeting new people too! Rest assured, the only noise I will be making this year will be coming from the radio or the CB.
  12. My exhaust on the '87 VR is starting to get loud. It's hard to describes because it's not just a loud muffler type noise....it sort of comes and goes throughout the acceleration. Is quiter when cruising and off the accelerator. Seems to get a little quieter after it has warmed up, but not as quiet as it should. I have visually inspected the system and can't see any obvious rust through holes or anything that would appear to be the problem. As a result, I can't pinpoint it with my ear either. I am hoping the issue is gaskets between the exhaust and the cylinder head. To get to the front cylinder heads where the exhaust ports are, do I need to remove the rad? It looks that way. How do I get to the rear cylinder exhaust ports?
  13. I bought an 89 Royale and the radio has a couple of problems. First off, the volume control is extremely sensitive. One click from all the way down and the radio is at medium volume. At 2 clicks, it's loud, and at 3 its as loud as it gets. Also, the tone control seems to have very little effect from one extreme to the other. I took the control unit apart and checked the volume and tone potentiometers, and they are good. Does anybody have a more complete schematic than the one line page that's in the manual?? Frank D.
  14. Looking at Bub Sleepers and Baron Bag-Slashes for a 2006 RSTD right now. Not looking for anything too loud, just a good quality, good fitting slip-on. Any sort of consensus on this around here?
  15. The radio on the 87VR has lost alot of vol. It will not get very loud. Any ideas????
  16. I recently bought a 06 RSV that the previous owner had installed a set of Python slip ons. They sound great but too loud for my taste, any ideas what I might could install that would be close to the sound of the original pipes? Thanks in advance and by the way,I am new to the site and really enjoy reading everyone posts.
  17. basically this is the first add on to my RSTD. finally decided on the Barons slash cut's. The bike is still stock, but I guess that's the fun of customizing it. Have to start somewhere I guess. I hope that they aren't too loud!
  18. For the Engine/Performance Experts: Subject: Samson Turn down Silver bullet mufflers Used them on my HD. Ultra..(now sold) what are the problems with them on a 2003 RSMV? Bike came with slashers (too loud!!) Returned to stock (sane, but quiet) would the Samsons be an option? And if so..what air/back pressure issues are there? Any help? Regards, Bob D
  19. Hi All, A friend of a friend is selling his 2001 XVS1100 VSTAR (see pics below) for $2500.00. It has A Harley Headlight and Running Lights, Hard Saddle Bags, Cobra Exhausts, and rear Air Suspension with onboard compressor. It has 6100 miles on it. It is a bit loud for my tastes but Ebay has stock pipes cheap. If anyone knows anything about these bikes, PLEASE let me know, I know very little about the big twins. Thanks for your help, Earl
  20. Hello All - I just put some HD Road King pipes on my 02 venture. Do I need to rejet? Some people I spoke to say yes, others say no. How do I know for sure? These things have absolutely no baffles and are loud as heck!!! TIA.
  21. I've got a question on a set of Edsets I just installed. The original headsets come in loud and clear. The Edset however needs to have the intercom on 19 to be heard and the radio also has to be loud. Are there any attenuaters in the system that can be taken out of the system, or adjustment on the headset to help out/ Thanks, Kenw:confused07:
  22. I have seen where some were asking about muffler for venture that sound good but not loud. The yamaha shop gave me at set off of a 2007 tour deluxe. has the same the part number as the ones on my 2000, except they have moveable tips. I used a dremel tools with a cut off disk, went up in the muffler 1 inch and cut the tube, pushed it to the side and put them back on, they sound great, but are not loud unless under full throttle. also you can't tell the mod has been done looking at the muffler, nor can you run the stick up into muffler to check the baffle. This can be done to any 99 up venture, it was easy to due only takes about an hour. You do need the extension set for the dremel tool. Gregg:big-grin-emoticon:

    Loud!

I was tearing down my RSV getting ready to install a new rear tire. Since I had the mufflers off I wanted to see just how loud it was. Blam, that's a loud summagun!
  24. I just came across this video on YouTube. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQ6A5yBT9Fk]YouTube - 2004 yamaha venture engine[/ame] It's a little loud but this is the best sounding Venture that I have ever heard. Anyone know which exhaust this is?

    Exhaust

This is my first time posting on here. Exhaust question- is louder better or not? I have almost been ran out of the road before because of someone in a car not hearing or seeing my bike. I have noticed when riding in my truck that if a motorcycle with loud exhaust is beside of me then I can hear it before seeing it. If you change exhaust do you have to have the carb. rejetted? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Hairman
