I regret to say that I have removed myself from offering VR assistance. In order to provide assistance I have to post my phone numbers(s) for contact purpose. It's too bad that someone chooses to use the phone number information for something other than to request assistance. One rotten apple CAN spoil the whole bushel.

Looks like I will be traveling to Phoenix in the next week or so to pick up my new 2009 Venture S, I am finalizing the deal as I type. I'm looking for information on a stealership or maybe some available garage space to do the 600 mile service, (oil change, rear diff fluid). I will be on my way back to West By God Virginia, a total of about 2200 miles. If anyone has information about a convenient stealership close to the interstate near there, please share that information with me. As is the same if anyone has the ability and desire to host/help for the change, that of course would be much appreciated. I am mechnaically inclined and do all of my own service, but that of course is when I have the facilities to do such. I think that the vast majority of you already know this but some may have not given it much thought one way or the other. I do all that I can to make sure that your private information remains private here. That is why if you email another member, the email goes through the venturerider email system so that your actual email address is never displayed here. Your private emails are not given out here by me to any individual or to any company. The only way that somebody should be able to get your email address is to ask you for it. Same with your telephone numbers. Many of us have our numbers listed here for the VR Assistance list and in our profiles. Your profiles are NOT viewable by guests, expired members or (as of today) trial members. I like to give our trial members access to all the features that I can but since pretty much anybody can sign up for a trial membership, I've decided that your member information will only be viewable by other supporting members. Even at that, you have privacy options in your UserCP so that you can hide your information to everybody or make it available only to members on your "friends list", etc. I say all of that to say this. If you are ever contacted by a ex member or guest asking you for another members email address or telephone number, please do NOT give it out. The best thing to do would be to forward the request to the member whose information is being requested and let THEM decide whether or not they wish to provide it. I do all that I can to protect our privacy here, please help me in doing so. Thanks much. Don

I'm just curious if anybody here has done much business with China and has had any packages shipped here to the US. I ordered a laptop battery on 11/17/2010 on ebay and I still haven't received it. After 5 weeks with no delivery and the information available via the tracking number having not been updates since 11/19/2010, the sender finally sent out another battery on 12/25/2010. Now that tracking information on that battery hasn't been updated since 12/27/2010. I asked that he use an express method for the second shipment, but he chose to use the same service in spite. How long should it take to get a small package from China? Jeannie ordered a handmade dress from China for our wedding after I ordered my battery and she got it last week already. I just don't know for sure if I should file a complaint with ebay or just be more patient. Seven weeks seems like an awful long time. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Bill

I got an email from Sean that he is now offering a new choke knob that matches the key cover that several of us have on our RSVs. I think it looks great and will be ordering one soon. As we get older, and the fact we are targets for cagers, chances are, we, or our family may need medical services in the future, which may include blood transfusions But....more and more it is becoming evident that bloodless surgery is the best for patients. As some may know, I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses and so I refuse blood for religious reasons. This is NOT meant to be a religious discussion! I wanted to provide some links where you can get information on the use of blood so you can make your own decisions. For me...it is because I believe that is what God wants for us...but it also is just GOOD MEDICINE! One link is a well known PBS news show. Another is a preview of a video put out by Jehovah's Witnesses. I promise that the fulll length video is not "preachy"...it is a logical and very good examination of the use of blood and an explaination of alternatives to blood transfusion. Again....this is not meant to push my beliefs on anyone (that's not what we do anyway) but is an interesting subject that could affect us individually or our family. SO IT"S GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT! It's still really beaking my heart parting out the Venture. Oh well, got to move on sometime I guess. I'm staying here though. Too much good company and information. Besides, I know there are other LT's here.

Started up the 87 VR today and pumping fuel onto the ground behind the center stand. It looks like it is coming from the bottom front of the fuel tank. Only running out (very heavy) when engine is running. Is the fuel pump located there? Is there information on taking it apart so I can determine what is leaking? Thanks for the help Mike

OK folks...I guess it's time for me to update the VRAssitance list. If you are not on it and want to be or if your telephone number or services offered has changed, please get it updated over the next few days. To be added to, removed or update your information, simply click on UserCP in the upper menu bar and then "edit details" in the left menu. Scroll to the bottom to add or edit your information. Probably early next week, I will get it all together and create a new .pdf document and Excel file for those who wish to can download.

Just completed the Jason mod, AIS plugged, Steering head bearings. Will do carb sync as soon as my carbtune comes in this week. Appreciate all those that have put into the tech library on this site. The 12.00 is nothing for this kind of information, if you haven't paid up, DO IT. Best value you'll ever get for the money. Again Thank you for taking the time to document how to do these improvements.

I am looking for a set of front fairings for a 89 VR because the previous owner dropped the bike and broke both fairings. I have been offered a set of fairings from a 83 VR and would like to know if they will fit a 89. I am not that knowledgeable about what the interchangeability is from year to year. Can someone point me in the right direction as to where I can find this information? Thanks. Jim -
Sold my 83 venture this morning. Not by choice but eating is always nice. Thanks to everyone that has helped me with information on my bike. The new owner said he will join on the club. Again thanks.

I was wondering where is everybody staying at Meramec State Park in MO. It's going to be here before we know it. I was looking up some of the sites on the computer. A little late notice on this. The event is 4/10/2010 12200 Palomino Lane in Fort Myers, Fl. I will apologize in advance for cross posting this but I posted it last year and some folks missed it. I have it in Non venture, other clubs, public events also. I posted in M and E last year. Does anyone have any experience with the Roadstar Silverado? I have the opportunity to trade my old 72 Suburban for an 07 Roadstar with 3400 miles on it. I checked out the Roadstar forums but can't find the kind of information I find here. Is there anything I need to be watching for? Thanks!

I'm needing to replace the shocks on my sidecar, simple coilover is fine, current length is about 11 - 11.5 inch and I have evidence that what is on there, whatever that is, is not quite adequate. Can someone give me information on how to determine what I need?

I have made a write up covering some basics on the use and installation of relays in motorcycles. I worked in railroad signaling for 15 years and most of this time I was a signal circuit design engineer. I primarily dealt with relay based design involving signaling and highway crossing protection. During this time, I gained some knowledge concerning relays and the design of relay based circuits. The write up refers primarily with the relays used in Ventures. It does not include any information regarding the starting solenoid or flasher relays. I have included some basic information and definitions regarding relays. There are pictures of the internal workings of Venture and automotive style accessory relays that are available at various auto parts stores. Also included is some basic information involved in wiring and fuse size selection. I have included examples of several practical applications of relays involving Ventures including: Driving lamp addition Passing Lamp addition for RSV’s Headlight cut-out when starting for RSV’s Air horn addition Ignition switch bypass modification for RSV’s To open the PDF file, click on file name shown in blue below. In the market for a new rear tire and was curious if anyone has had any experience with the Michelin Commanders. Looking for how many miles you got out of them and how they handled on wet roads. Hello to all, Just picked up a 2001 RSV and would like to swap out a couple of parts that are on the scoot: 1) It presently has fish tail exhaust system - would like to go back to a stock pipe. Anyone have a set? 2) There is a Corbin seat on the bike - would like to also go back to a stock seat, both rider and pass. Anyone have stock seats? Willing to trade, purchase, etc... Question: Who has the Information on the Car solinoid that is supposed to be a replacement ( other then mounting ) for the 1st gen??? I believe it was some Japanese small car. Anybody have that information handy ?? Thenks
