  1. Hello to all, I am a new member on Venture Rider but already have a tough question. I am riding a 2009 RSV and want to get hold of some engine chrome does anyone have any ideas were to find these very items. Thank Ghostrider7:bobby:
  2. I want to get a shorter tinted windshield but not sure about size. Is the windshield measured from the base of the screen itself or from the top of the chrome strip it sticks out of? Mine measures 17" from the strip.
  3. ok guys i need some answers, with only 1100 miles on this new bike it seems to a lot hoter then my 06rsv after tracing down the main heat source it appears to be coming from the chrome clutch cover on the right side as sitting on the bike ( rear big cover). today i rode 5 miles and it was hot enough to feel thru my boot and pant leg after returning home i used a contact themp. and had a temp of 162 is this normal. i did check to insure the fan is running, the oil level ok only difference from the 06 is the chrome rad coveing,06 doesnt have one any suggestions thanks steve:confused24:
  4. Got a postcard from the local Star dealer for a test ride on an 2011 Stryker. If you take the test ride you get a pair of Oakley sunglasses. The bike only had 3 miles on it.... well I fixed that. You really shouldn't tell me to "take it all afternoon if you want", because I want. It handled really well for the amount of frt rake. More than enough power for me and I didn't have to pay for fuel. It was a good day. Except I left Brenda at the showroom alone with all that "safety chrome" around for her Classic. It would have been cheaper to stay home and just by the Oakleys online. Below is the link to the test ride offer if anyone is interested. http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/stryker_demo_promo.aspx
  5. The Chrome End Nut on my heal toe shifter keeps loosening. Looking for the right fix. I've attached two pictures. 1st of the Heal Toe shifter and shaft, 2nd the Chrome End Nut. I had this appart this last winter and can't seem to find all the right pieces. My thought would be to get a thin metric nut with nylon locking threads to keep the nut from loosening against the Heal Toe shifter. Then lastly put the chrome end nut on. Open to suggestions.
  6. Hi fellow riders. I just installed the Stebel horn in place of the stock horn on the lower right side of my 07 RSV. I used Carbon One's bracket and it works fine. The chrome plastic cover does touch the clutch housing and the exhaust shield. I have not taken it out for a ride yet, was wondering if anyone has had any melting on the chrome plastic cover with this installation. Thanks in advance for your replies.
  7. Easy one first.... I have a HF Tag Along trailer and it has 8" wheels. Has anyone put wheel covers on their trailer? Thinking of getting some safety chrome covers. Would be covers from a golf cart company. Golf carts use 8" wheels. Second... interested in an inexpensive (
  8. I got a couple new projects starting up and sending some parts to the platers to have the old chrome stripped so I can clean them up and paint them. The thing is I also have some parts that are plastic that were "chromed" and I need to remove that also. Any suggestions on removing that without damaging the plastic? Other than a lot of scraping and sanding? Thanks Mike
  9. I have added a little safety chrome. (and hitching) (and lighting) (and shifting)
  10. OK yesterday AM I get up at 0330 and head to Houston for a 3-4 hour supposedly job doing some Modifications on the Wing/\..It turned out to last all day and didnt leave Houston for Home till nearly 8PM last night arriving home around midnight. Here Is a list of what I did. 1. Progressive front springs 2. "All Balls" Head Bearings.(Didnt need YET but most Gold Wings will need to upgrade due to a front end wobble 3. Centramatic wheel balancers, front 2 and rear 4. CHROME WHEELS (Eye Candy) 5. Handlebar risers OK,here is the report: The front end and feel is AWESOME. I was skeptical about doing the Centramatics but figured since I rode one with them and it seemed to make the older Wing ride better than mine Why Not? My result..They are a FANTASTIC product and you cannot see them when installed unless you are really looking hard for them. It almost feels like it makes the bike even more stable and yes the balancing is great to. I keep wondering if it makes more of a "GYRO" effect"? Im telling you it almost feels as if the bike would stay up by itself when you stop .(I dont know how else to explain it.) The handlebar risers are fantastic, they cost me $25.00 but it raised the bars at the end about 1 1/2 inches and seems to have pulled back about 1/2 ,3/4 of an inch. I can honestly say that I now have the most comfortable bike Ive ever ridden because of this Mod. The "Chrome Wheels"..whast else can I say..when I turn on the "Ring Of Fire"and it shines against the chrome wheels man is it a showstopper. I had people in every town pulling up beside me giving me a "Thumbs Up". All in al other than the Chrome wheels it was $500.00 .For those interested the Chrome Wheels was $700.00 installed with new bearings seals everything ready to bolt on and yes he will ship them this way so all you have to do is order wheels, put them on and send your old wheels back..IF you dont wanna go to Houston to have it done for free!
  11. Well I stopped by HD in burlington today looking at new boots. AS I looked around I noticed that they have chrome tips for fenders. I measured a couple and then my fender when I got home and they have a plain chrome fender tip that will fir first gen ventures. Just thought I would share. Shaun
  12. Well I thought I had all the chrome I could get on my bike but I found a place in Houston where I can get a set of Chrome Wheels for $700.00 including new seals, bearings and Installed.. Needless to say I will be in Houston on 4/5/2011 getting them installed. I will also be getting a few extras that I dont need but I love to get things "Tweaked". I cant hardly wait!!!
  13. Looking for the chrome horseshoe shaped accessory on the bottom of the front fairing just above the front fender.
  14. Ok first the good...built my bracket and harness for the stebel airhorn. Works great and since I had it and the aluminum stock laying around it cost zero dollars. Now the BAD. I attacked the job of splitting the fairing yesterday to find the previous owner had glued the chrome windshield mole on because one of the end tabs was broken. I see no choice but to buy it and it looks like 140 bucks or so! crappy design! Also I see that my windshield retaining strip like some others on here was assembled and the 2 center bolts left out. It's under warranty but with the broken chrome I am sure this will somehow be my fault. The whole thing makes me sick... anyone ever have to have stuff like that handled under warranty? It also looks like there may be some seeping around the rear diff mounting flange. On the plus side... we did go for a 120 mile ride today... I was staring at the tape holding the chrome on the whole time :-( Frank
  15. Well, I did a little design work on my Dash and the passenger foot pegs and thought that I would share the photo with you. I put chrome plastic buttons on the dash along with chrome diamond strip. I also put chrome diamonds on top of the Radio control. Also changed out the chrome near the fuel cap and added "Free Spirit" covers to the Brake and Clutch reserviors. Forgive me for the diamonds but I will have to admit that they are not real!! ha ha Got the chrome knobs and diamonds at Petboys. DanC:cool10:
  16. I need the chrome back fender rails from a RSTD....the ones that the quick release backrest snaps onto. If anyone knows of any please let me know. Thank you......
  17. If you are looking for a very inexpensive way to chrome your Choke this could be the answer. They want around 30.00 to 40.00 for a chrome piece that covers the existing choke knob. I wanted to get around that cost so I started to look for a plastic chrome bolt cover that would fit on the existing choke knob. It needed to be 5/8 inch in diameter. They have them at several auto parts stores, napa, petboys, walmart and etc. I then took double sided 3M brand tape and cut a perfect round piece to fit on the back of the plastic chrome cover. I slightly angled the back of the scotch tape that presses on the existing choke knob. This way you can not see any of the tape and only the nice chrome piece. I then pressed it on the existing choke knob. I really like this better than buying the type that you have to connect to the choke knob with screws and etc. Its easy to remove if later you wish to remove it and your right back to stock. It also saves on fuel do to the weight difference!! ha ha :rotf:Hope that this helps someone who is poor like me. Not everyone can affort REAL CHROME!!! DanC:cool10: The tape is 3M two sided tape, not regular scotch tape, needed to carify the tape used, and it will stay forever until you "really" want it off and then it will take some effort!!! If you do need to remove it for some reason I would recommend useing GOO GONE, or GOOF OFF to help remove all the sticky material from the Choke knob,.
  18. You guys might just want to pull your trunk and check the mounting bolt holes on the chrome trunk frame. When Squid and I pulled my damaged trunk off this past weekend we discovered that the FRONT mounting bolt hole plates on my trunk frame were cracked... and it appears the only thing keeping things together was the chrome plating...and yes the stress cracks were clearly visible through the chrome too. From the response I got from my Dealer this morning I don't hold much hope of Yammi eating the $500+ bill to replace the chromed trunk frame....And yes, the Service Manager was NOT surprised to see the damage on the trunk frame... and that tells me that this may be a trunk frame defect that Yammi is fully aware of.....And the typical response from Yammi it seems is that they attribute the failure to the customer "overloading" the trunk with weight. My Yammi Dealer took a complete set of good pics of the trunk rack both top/bottom and is going to submit a request for Warranty replacement at no cost to me. Note to Squid: If this goes through I will get the NEW trunk rack to you Bro!! Boomer....With regards and respect to all.
  19. What is a good site to purchase chrome accessories for a 1999 Royal Star Venture? Gilligan

    StarGlide

I finished my StarGlide conversion today. I installed an RSTD rear fender to get rid of all the welded brackets on the RSV fender. I have a chrome fender rack ordered which should be here in the next few days.
  21. :Im not listening toI am somewhat embarrassed to ask this question but I have all you members out there that could help me with this problem. I bought the Yamaha Light covers for the running lights and the headlight. I installed the running lights with no problem. I took the bolt off of the headlight thinking that the chrome ring would come off but its refusing to come off the cowling. My question is, do I have to remove the complete front cowling to get the chrome cover off so as I can lock the visor in place?? I have a maintenance manual and it does not cover anything about removing the front chrome covering on the headlight. My owners manual also does not cover this area. Thanks in advance. Dan
  22. My loving bride got me alittle safety chrome..... now I gots to install them!!
  23. I tried to order this part from Yamaha and they said that this part is no longer available. I'm needing the small black washer (wierd sharpe) that slides over the threaded portion of the chrome bar of the entire radio module. The chrome bar is what you grip in order to lift the entire radio module out of the faring. I have an 89 VR. I'm hoping that someone might have an extra radio module unit that they are using for spare parts.
  24. Anyone ever repacked their aftermarket exhausts? Specifically Bub's..., but I imagine they're all similar.. I picked up a set of Bub's from another member in the classy's. They were cheap and as described. The bodies are very nice, but the chrome tips are flaking chrome big time. They're now torn apart and sitting in the office. (see pics) [Gonna try to make a silk purse out of a sows ear here... ] The packing was gone other than a few tufts, and I'm not sure if the tufts are original material or?? I did find some universal fiberglass packing material at Cruiser Customizing that will probably work. The chromed tips look like they have corroded to the point that they will not come off the baffle flange. The tips are aluminum so I think it's probably galvanic corrosion. Any ideas on how to seperate them, or should I leave well enough alone and see if I can scrape the rest of the chrome off and polish or maybe paint??
  25. I was at my local dealer where I bought my Venture,Honda/Yamaha of FT. Walton, to have some warranty work done. (crack in left lower faring ) I noticed they had a set of chrome breather covers for a venture hanging on their showroom wall. This is the ones that set in between the cylinders at the bottom. I think these are discontinued. I already have a set on mine. I did not see a price, but I would suspect it would be suggested retail. If I remember right, they were between $80 to $100.Any way, here is their phone # for any one that is interested.850-862-4622 or 850-863-2346.
