  1. Sorry for all the questions but they led me to find and check both the front and rear factory intercom cords. Seems like I get the same no sound from the left side of my headset using either front or rear cord. Both the fairing speakers work well tho. Am I looking at a main audio unit problem? Is there a place to send to check and repair?
  2. Hey there Rocket. I think I have bad factory cords. Is the Sierra link you posted back on 5/11/09 for the radio/intercom cords that run from the main audio unit to where you plug you helmet short cord into? Also are these music amp cords you and others are talking about pretty much the same thing ? Thanks
  3. I think I may have a bad front factory cord. I have tried different headsets and still get no sound out of the left side. Is there a wiring diagram of the factory cord on the bike where I could check to see if im getting a signal thru the 5 pins of the connector. If I bend this one at the connector it cuts off completely in the headset. Broken wire? I have been using the cord that was in the rubber holder on the left side of the cover when I got the bike. When I was checking for the problem it appears to be about 4-5 feet long. Is this the rear cord/connector? This is the one I have a problem with. If this is the rear then is the front in there somewhere and should be much shorter. If so and I can find it then maybe it will work better, dont really need the rear. If I need a new cord are they replacable? Do they unplug from main unit in the fairing?
  4. Greeting from Knoxville, TN. I have an 87 Venture and just started to use the inter/headset for riding with others using the CB. All the electronics seem to work well on the bike. I have used two different headsets with the 5-pin connector for the Yamahas and cannot get anything out of the left side of the headsets. I hear the radio, the CB works between my bud and I but only out of the right head speaker, and both the fairing speakers work well. I pulled the unit out of the fairing and the multi-pin plug looks fine with plenty of lith all over. No signs of water leaking anywhere in the fairing. I have noticed that at the drivers plugin on the end of the factory cable on the bike, if I bend the cable certain way all sound cuts off the headsets. May be a cracked wire near the end there, but moving it around I still get no sound out of the left side. Anybody know of the radio/CB combo unit having this problem and needs sent in to a radio shop?? Thanks, Dennis
  5. Looking for the chrome horseshoe shaped accessory on the bottom of the front fairing just above the front fender.
  6. Trying different things but whats the best air pressure for the front and rear and dial setting, 1,2,or 3. I ride most of the time weighing about 225. When my wife ride with me thats about 150 more. Now i have the dial on 2 and air about 35 in each. Seems soft and comfy for me but front has bottomed out on some bumps.
  7. The Big Dance = Packers vs Jets = Packers
  8. Thanks, I hear you and that could save me some $$. The bike runs great, however, I do have a low end slugish problem. Stumbles on light throttle and the occational light cracking type backfire until I give more throttle. Didnt know if the open cans could cause or out of sink carbs. I was going to have the carbs sinked soon, dont know if they ever have been done.
  9. May need to replace my muffler cans for my 1987 Venture. The previous owner knocked out the baffles. A little louder than normal but not too bad, however, will this affect the engine performance??
  10. Got it fixed. This part is by all sources called a metering valve. The end under the rubber cap can leak similar to a pressure relief valve iv found in auto brake and power steering systems and they can't be fixed. Pull off the rubber cap to check if wet. Mine was and could watch a drip form when pressing rear pedal, then when let off pedal could watch it get sucked back in, thus my air for the spungy pedal. Must be a rare thing for it to go bad. I found the MC Salvge in Morristown TN had 3 Ventures carcuses and all three still had this part. So i got one and it fixed my spongy rear brakes right up.
  11. Oh yea, found that out a while back. I fixed the leaking fuel cock gasket. So now Im headed up to Morristown TN to Motorcycle Salvage and try to find one of those linked-brake metering valves. One of the best places iv ever seen. Always had something I needed in the past.
  12. Well fellas It appears that I am sucking air thur the metering valve on the triple tree. Discontinued from Yamaha. I will have to look for one. As far as not seeing a brake fluid leak, it was catching in the from lower cowl and not on the ground. Also need to replace the o-ring and bolt washer/gaskets on the fuel-cock. Smelled a little gas and found that leaking.
  13. Thanks guys. I do have a vac pump so I will try that on all bleed points today. It still has me wondering tho why after I hand bled and got a good solid pedal, after sitting a bit, it would loose all pressure and I would get more air out of that upper bleeder. Where is the air coming from. I see no leaks (yet).
  14. Greetings from Knoxville, TN. I hope this is a good place to post this for some info. I just got a real nice loaded 87 Venture Royal. Can do a lot fixens, but the linked brakes I never had before. Seems like there is no rear pedal. I have bled the rear cal and the left front cal and there seemed to be no air. However, the bleeder up by the handle bars has a lot of air. I kept the rear master cyl filled, thru the 14mm bolt hole in the side of the MC (i guess that is a fill hole), and bled a lot of air out of that upper bleeder and got a good hard pedal and wheel stop, but after a little other work elsewhere on the bike, I rechecked the rear pedal and there was not any pedal again. I have repeated the air bleed from that upper bleeder a couple times and more air comes out. I would think that if I got a good hard pedal then Im good-to-go but why doesnt it last? If I had a leak sucking air in, I would think I would also see a leak on the floor, specially under pressure when bleeding. Would love any ideas and direction. Dennis
