  1. Not completely gone, but limited access. Will check in when I can. I have to fly to Minneapolis tomorrow and then drive to the company resort near Hayward, WI for our semi-annual sales meeting. They do have WIFI there but only in the lodge, not in the cabins so I can only check in quickly once or twice a day. Will be returning very late Friday night. Hope you all have a great week and remember me while I am there getting my semi-annual attitude adjustment.
  2. All wraps were shipped out today......(except Yamaducks... check your PM's)..LOOK for them in your mailboxes in a couple of days...Canadian members also look for yours...still have about a dozen on hand, some of each color...will not be ordering more till after Christmas.....remember these ,along with any other item I take care of for the club can be ordered year round..Some people seem to think that these items are one shot deals....check out the vrstore for those stocking stuffers or gifts for yourself or your loved ones....support our club....thank you for listening to another rant from me.... I know..I'm shameless:whistling:

  6. Front tire went down 65mph two up.Slide about 200' both of us stayed with the bike until we hit shoulder.Minor scrapes & bumps totaled 07 venture. Tire had 3000 miles on it new valve stem when tire was changed. No hole in tire valve stem rubber cracked.Never thought bad valve stem but i will now.And yes i do check my tires before every ride.
  7. Everything works, engine spinns over but will not fire. Don't know where to look or what to look at for that matter. Shop said to bring it on in, we'll only charge you $85 to check it out.
  8. We took a nice ride today and ended up at Bills Biker Barn in Bloomsburg,Pa. if you are anywhere near this place ya gotta stop in and check it out. It is amazing the guy has bikes and memorabilia from everywhere. There is so much stuff you dont know where to look. It would be an awesome place for a Meet-n-Eat, it is definetly worth the $5 admission to anyone who likes bikes and or antiques. He had a coin operated player guitar, just like an old player piano, but a guitar instead. Check it out, it worth the trip. Craig
  9. Ok you guys and gals.. the fleece jackets are now officially going on sale..check it out on the Venture Rider merchandise forum........
  10. Just hit the 4000 mile mark and really can not afford to go see the stealer for this service so I pulled up the service chart and was surprised to see that they recommend 8000 miles on an oil change. So is there any thing critical on the 4000 mile check or do I hang my key for the year and hope I get back to working a 40 Hr week by next season.
  11. Ive been running into and meeting all kinds or Venture Riders since I created the Firefighter Edition Venture. It just gets noticed. Quite a few Ventures not on here. I have also been noticing a new members here on the Island as well. All you Long Island members check in on here and maybe we can put together a ride and a meal before the summer is over!!!
  12. I just paid off actually I'll send the last payment Tuesday. My Silverado pickup is mine with only 54K miles. I'll have $42K in her and I will never do that again. Then next $42K will go toward a new house.I just opened a cold one and lets hope she runs another 150K miles.I got the check ready to mail.:big-grin-emoticon:
  13. Well my week started off oddly enough. I got my water bill on Sat. and it was $80 which is very strange. According to the bill I used 11500 gallons of water. I was gone a week during this time and Jeff isn't here. Normally I use about 2000 gallons a month. Went down to ask what's up with this and they said you must have a leak. So I come home and no leaks in the house but I check the meter again and write down what it says. Too late to head back so I decided to check again this morning and it was a lot higher. So I go around back and find lots of water back there. Seems the water leak was where it comes into the house. Now I panic I'm not a plumber Jeff's gone what do I do. So I called the water dept to get them to turn off the water because I don't know how to do that. Then I called ADC. He came over checked the situation got the bad stuff off and went for parts. Came back and fixed my leak turned on my water and everything is good to go. Now I don't usually call folks to help makes me feel like I'm being a bother or a pest. But I needed someone to help since I didn't know what to do. Arthur not only came over to fix it he won't let me pay him for the parts. I figure I'll get him back for that one later. Maybe at a meet if Josh wants something and dad says no. Reason I'm posting this is without this site I'd never have met Arthur even though he only lives like 10 mins away. So I want to say thank you to Arthur where everyone can see. So he knows how much I appreciate what he did. I felt kinda bad calling thinking he was at work, but he had today off. Kinda felt bad imposing on his day off. Ok now back to what you all were doing before I interrupted. Margaret
  14. On my last day of my New England trip I was loading the bike up at the hotel and I thought the trunk looked a little low. I didn't pay attention as I was in a hurry to get home. Once I got home and off loaded everything I saw what the problem was. Not one, but both bolts holding the trunk to the bracket next to the bags had come out. I checked and tightened pretty much everything I could find before leaving for my trip but never thought of checking these. I asked the parts guy at the Yamaha dealership if he'd ever see this before and in all his years he had not. The bolts were replaced and all is fine but better check yours.
  15. Well, it's hump day and for those of you that have to 'work' that has a significant meaning, to us that just can't sleep, all it means is another day to ride or just do nothing and wait for Uncle Sam to send another check
  16. My bike suddenly developed a vibration when I roll the throttle on at highway speeds, 60 mph and above. *It started while on a ride last weekend and my wife noticed the vibration from the backrest. Once she pointed it out I noticed it too. My first thought was a problem with carb synch but I synched them right before Vogel and Goose checked them for me while at Vogel. *So I checked them again when I got home and the synch was still perfect. *I also put new caps on the vacuum ports. So now I'm thinking it's an ignition issue. Spark plug, wire or coil. *The plugs only have about 6000 miles on them but I plan to install a new set this weekend. *Is there anything else I can check? *Is there an easy way to check the coils or wires or should I just let the dealer do that? Thanks, Dennis
  17. Heading out Saturday. Going to Rocky Top w/ the Family. Might be able to check in tomorrow. Not sure yet. Got lots of things to get done to get ready.
  18. Hi everyone, I am looking for some who can do a voltage check on your tci---let me give what I need. I have an 84 venture, I have 12 volts going to the tci- at all the wires that are 12 volts---- Now what I would like some to do is, do a voltage reading at the 12 volt inputs with the key on,--- Now his what I need to know ---- when you hit the starter WHAT IS THE VOLTAGE READING? mine is droping to about 4/5 volts!!! but will not start. Now everything else is ok, in fact I do get a very weak spark out of the coils. My thought is that I should have 12 volts all the time-can't rember any thing that would drop that low just to start! Also the other parts of the system stays at 12 volts, I hope someone could do a test on their bike just to see if this is where my problem is. Thanks a million guys. tom ---cookieman
  19. Almost anyway. We stayed in Cornelia last night but are going to be in Helen for the next couple of night before checking in to the cabin on Wednesday. We haven't gotten rained on at all but it has sure been hot. For some reason, I can't check my email from this hotel. Internet is working and I can get my email from venturerider.org but they seem to have the entire Verizon network blocked and I can't access my email through Thunderbird and even the Webmail page won't open. So...I wasn't able to check my email of all the posts for the past day and can't get any email that you may have sent. Hopefully it will work from the hotel in Helen. This is the first time I've been able to get online and have my email not work. Looking forward to seeing you all.

  24. I am contemplating parting with my 2004 RSV. I see there are two equally beautiful '04's listed in the classifieds and I'm not sure if I want to post it there yet. I've trolled a bit on Craigslist and had a few nibbles. Figured I'd check in here to see if there is any interest. Shoot me a PM if you are in the market and/or want more details.
  25. I thought I'd mention this one to others who might not have thought of this one, but ya know how it's a pain to check your oil level on this bike? You either have to have someone sit the bike for you while YOU get down and check the sight glass or have someone else get down on their hands and knees to check the sight glass for you? Last evening, I was in the parking lot sitting on my bike, and pulled out my telescoping inspection mirror and put it down by the right side pipe.. people come up to see what I was looking for.. I knew some of them to be RSV riders.. It never occurred to them to check their oil levels this way.. from the seat.. My VStar has a mirror contraption bolted down there so that I just look down past my leg and I can see the reflection of my oil level.. but for the RSV you can't do this.. However, an inspection mirror works great! I glued the swivel head in the proper position so that I don't have to fumble with it much and I actually store it in the empty cassette player slot when not in use.. NO excuse for not checking the oil level now..
